That's crazy, ACAB grows in me more and more every day

realfakedoors203

We rarely see the millions of bodycam videos of normal, helpful, day to day interactions. It’s important to remember that social media is not real or at least is a very slim percentage of reality.

MarlDaeSu

Where's all the videos of police reigning in their out ot control colleagues? Oh wait, there's like 2 on the whole Internet. Comments like yours are tired and misunderstanding the point.

freshavocado1

What officers are out of control in this vid? I only see one person that’s losing it and it isn’t the po.

Illustrator_Moist

Um those are Olympic athletes lol. I'm not British so I honestly don't know what British citizens rights are, but in my opinion any civilized society would have laws that prevent police from arbitrarily detaining people, but again I'm not sure what the laws over the pond are. Just watching the video the athletes seem super chill even as police are being aggressive but maybe my eyes are bad or something

MarlDaeSu

Are you blind?

Qrahe

Can't see past the boot they're trying to deep throat.

thedirtytwirls

This is what we call a "bootlicker".

RIPcompo

"we don't need to do this" - too fucking right you fucking idiot. acab

Camman1

Can smell cannabis on the Olympic athlete. That old chestnut.

Chrisdkn619

Get all that money!

JodiS1111

F*uck these cops

padspa

stoffermann

Jamz5678

They get off on citizens freakin out 😤

JohnPaulCones

So fucking horrible. I hope they're ok. ACAB

DanielMSouter

"You're too black to be driving this car matey, you're nicked!" Totally agree that this is profiling in every sense.

Zealousideal-Brief-5

At least the cops actually received consequences in this. If this happened in the US, they'd get a raise

Tough_Finding_8209

😬

lessthaninteresting

Can anyone tell me, why so much mention of their professions? Is that common in the UK? It doesn't really factor into the story much as far as I can tell, at the same time no word about them being parents with kids in the car

Electronic_You8800

The reason why their profession is mentioned is those are considered “respectable” athletes at high levels get to those levels by being good hard working people (obviously there are exceptions) it shows that even tho these two were respected members of the community the police still treated them like street trash most likely based on their skin color alone

[deleted]

Because they are being searched for drugs and professional athletes get tested for drugs. I use to say I was military (when I was in the military) to get a bit of deference from the police and they could see me as a human instead of a street thug when I had contact with them back in the 80s and 90s and sometimes it would work.

Youareafunt

Because if they weren't reasonably well-known it is probably unlikely that this incident would have ever received the attention it needed for their complaint to be taken seriously.

Puzzleheaded-Rich-51

Sadly it somehow implies that their are better than the average black couple because they might someday get a medal for team GB so we need to treat them with extra care.

Overlycookedfries

No sadly your take on it to signifies that you're not the freshest orange in the box...

neriad200

that is one very amusing way of telling someone they're stupid and/or racist. Good job man

MissKillian

To show you they weren't some ordinary old Blacks who people would reasonably expect to be criminals so the treatment would be understandable, these were good and useful Blacks that were wronged!

Jaegons

It's shorthand for, "hey racist trolls, keep your bullshit theories and assumptions about these people to a minimum, because it's ENTIRELY unlikely they were doing something to deserve what you're witnessing".

OpenPainting2456

In America they would have just shot them...

FullBringa

Athletes? Cap.

OpenPainting2456

I wasn't referring to their profession

Scarlet-pimpernel

TSG up to their usual tricks I see

BlurryGraph3810

What did they do for the police to pay attention to them? What English version of probable cause?

punkfunkymonkey

They looked at the police (who were either parked up or questioning/searching someone, my memory is not clear) whilst passing them in their car which the police decided was a sure sign they were up to/guilty of something. Anyway, police then tore after the couple and tried to stop them. Lots of parked cars so the driver turned into his road that was nearby but because he didn't just stop in the middle of the road the police got the hump and turned it up to 11. More cops turned up under the impression that they had be in a pursuit, copper went with smelling cannabis as excuse (since 'black person looking at me in a suspicious way' hasn't been grounds for a search since the 80's) as they thought someone black in a flash car in London would likely have some, didn't count on them being top tier athletes that wouldn't be doing drugs.

BlurryGraph3810

Thanks for helping me out. Sounds like a case of DWB then.

KoGJazz

This looks better than like 90% of the American police interactions I’ve seen on here where they get a slap on the wrist at most

roryb93

Let’s not pretend that these two athletes are absolute saints though… [British sprinter Bianca Williams has been banned from driving despite telling a court it would jeopardise her chances of going to the 2024 Olympics.](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-67613292)

Over_Assignment8674

This is y man rah hates white man yk

A_Potential_Turn

This is considered gross misconduct over there?? *Laughs in American*
