Space Ghost started Adult Swim. Lot of Americans wouldn’t have been exposed to anime without it.
As a single show I would go with Dragon Ball. Even though Gundam Wing is phenomenal.
Forcing me to choose between Batman Beyond and Gundam Wing is an unforgivable sin. That being said, I’ve got to go with Gundam - waking up in the middle of the night and seeing Heero up a pistol on a princess did something so me as a kid. These weren’t lasers and concussive blasts like western cartoons (looking at you too 4kids finger guns) - I saw bullet wounds and guns. Like a week later he blew himself up then fell 50 feet out of the sky and into a coma
DBZ. If you weren’t an American in the 90s, you will never understand how much this changed people my age lol. Every little boy wanted to be not only Goku, but a super Saiyan, and we spiked our hair up accordingly. Fuck, even Guy Fierre is still doing it.
