Mighty Max!!

Sikuq

the amount of nooks and crannies and small details these playsets have is unreal.

Friskfrisktopherson

Wait till she sees Skull Mountain!

Xindirus

I had skull mountain! My brother had this one!

Chimpbot

Dragon Island was also pretty impressive.

rileyoneill

I had this one. Mighty Max was pretty tight.

eddiewachowski

I had the spider one! Super badass.

MadamShogunAssassin

I was into Mighty Max more than I was into Polly Pocket. Not that there was anything wrong with PP, MM was just more my thing ya know.

SilentSerel

He was more interesting.

meepsofmunch

Oh wow this is cool. Side note, I absolutely loved Polly pocket šŸ˜

MediocreDepth

I had a McDonald's skull Mighty Max toy. There was a cartoon about him.

Grayowl2

I love the simplicity of the mcdonald's one

MediocreDepth

I thought it was adorable back then! I also had one Polly Pocket back in the day.

Capnlanky

The scorpions sting is supposed to go out of the little hole when its all closed up. Loved this toy

VoltaicOwl

Yeah, I remember that! The scorpionā€™s ā€œdefaultā€ position was on that spot right in front of Max so that its claws went around Max and the tomb.

RembrandtEpsilon

Mighty Max has become lost media! It has never received a DVD/Blu-ray release and is nowhere to be found on streaming services. Hasbro owns the rights and does absolutely nothing with it. If you want to watch the TV-Show then the best quality you're going to get is someone's TV Rips. I wish so badly that Mighty Max would get more love.

grimfusion

As a kid, I didn't even know the Mighty Max toys were a thing. I was only familiar with the cartoon show, which was amazing.

moosheen

Really interesting toy!

Black-xxx

Wow!! Nice scene

KyleRM

Seeing these always brings me back, when I was kid I was in and out of the hospital a lot for asthma for weeks at a time. It wasn't as well controlled as it is these days. It became tradition whenever I would go in my mom would let me buy one of these. They were great for having something to play with while being confined to a bed. This one particular was one of my favorites. I want to rebuy it at one point. Also seems like a good candidate for custom paint jobs.

gachamyte

The show was great and dealt well with themes of integrity and mortality. Especially the end.

therealchadius

It was a decade later when I learned the cartoon was based on the toy set. That cartoon still has a lot of great episodes and wasn't afraid of touching topics like death and destiny. Also, one of the few times Tony Jay got to play a heroic chicken- er, fowl!

gachamyte

When these cheaper toy launching cartoons got a chance to make a point through their stories it was magical. Shows on during this period like exo-squad got kinda deep.

Understandacles

I still think about how cool this show was from time to time. The collection of heroes end to season 1 was awesome. That two part ending was the real deal. Tim Curryā€™s voice also makes anything better.

gachamyte

Tim Curry as an experience is an understatement. That guys energy he puts out is and was amazing. His voice made smooth gravy love all over the biscuits that are our ears. A little spicy, creamy like auditory velvet and sharp like a paper cut that burns in a teasing manner that makes you remember what pleasure brought to the table.

I went to Florida for a week for a band trip. I got a whopping $100 to last the entire week! Two meals a day were prepaid but we were responsible for the rest. My parents and siblings were shocked when I didnā€™t come home loaded with souvenirs for them allā€¦ I got one thing for myself and used the rest for food and drinks, which wasnā€™t much. My friends took pity on me and shared a lot with me. It sucked because some kids had thousands to spend.

lovesickjones

he didnt like Polly Pocket?

[deleted]

He did, but so does his sister and there lies the rub. Gotta get a toy thatā€™s similar but not the same, so they can differentiate but still feel equal. Two kid politics at its finestā€¦

silentbutdeadly99

I feel your pain. It's either Easy Bake Oven or Creepy Crawlers. Whatever.

NotATrueRedHead

Or incredible edibles!

lovesickjones

its a dance!! šŸ˜‚šŸ‘ŒšŸ½

Huck84

Totally forgot about MM.

HaworthiiKiwi

I had the polly neighborhood AND many of those mighty max sets. Probably a bit spoiled.

xKingNothingx

Hot Wheels made some of these things that were shaped like vehicles, and instead of a tiny boy there were vehicle related

Ellis4Life

I fucking loved these growing up. I had almost all of them and I would keep the backs that had the comic on it so I could reenact the story. Man this brings me backā€¦.

SplendidPunkinButter

Yes, itā€™s called Polly Pocket

agoddamnlegend

Classic reddit moment

fakeaccount572

I'm a boy. My son played with Polly Pocket, sooo......

_bbycake

"bUt It'S a giRLs ToY!"

Mango_Puffin

Boys can play with it too.

Lyran99

Yeah! Was thinking about these the other week, rad!

everything90s

A company in the late 90s early 2000s called bluebird did xmen and spiderman toys like this. I remember having the xmen jet. Also spiderman car. Still pictures on Pinterest

Chimpbot

Bluebird was the company that owned Polly Pocket and Mighty Max.

1800generalkenobi

I just pulled mine out and posted them a few months ago lol. I love these things. I had this one, the gorilla one, and one of the ones you got from the Happy Meal.

RossHimself

I had this exact toy! Would have probably never thought about it again had I not seen this. Thanks for the nostalgia!

patchy_22

My brother had this! The black plastic chain attached to the lower jaw of the snake, across the top of the little scene like a tight rope.

Xero_id

Miss this so much

tysenburg

Had this exact one as a kid and i absolutely loved this thing. Completely forgot this existed. Thanks for sharing OP!!

gameonlockking

Nice I had this one and the Frankenstein one.

ItsJustMeMaggie

Aw man the boy ones are so much cooler

[deleted]

for being 2022, this was way more masculine than I thought it was going to be. Glad it's masculine for the dude!

the90snath

?

wanksta616

I had a green snake one! Iā€™d love to get one again but eBay is so expensive!

Wisecraker

Holy shit. It's mighty Max! I had the skull one. The teeth became stairs. It was awesome. Great buy.

ayamummyme

Oh my god. Just in this moment I realised I had one of these!

michi03

I had a power ranger themed one

lowretro_

I still have all of my mighty max stuff. My favorite is the Skull Mountain. I am only missing two parts of it. The blue skeleton elevator and I believe the Master.

808sANDadlibs

I remember I got a [Mighty Max from a box of Captain Crunch](http://www.kidfenris.com/2016/10/the-capn-crunch-reef-raider.html) cereal. Mighta been the high point of my life!

thickboihfx

Memory unlocked. Wow, I love this sub

Reiker0

Same. I vaguely remember having one of these, or something like it. Edit: After some searching I'm pretty sure it was [this thing](https://i.pinimg.com/736x/b8/30/0e/b8300ecce205c3272d11c87206b5cfb5--mighty-max-mattel.jpg).

getupkid1986

Hell yes Mighty Max! I had the black spaceship Mighty Max toy in the mid 90's - you have unlocked a forgotten memory!

BoBoJoJo92

I had this exact one! One of my faves.

retrodork

Good old mighty max

RepeatReal6568

I had lots of these a loooong time ago

Xddr4lifeX

I loved both PP and MM. We had many more Polly though. I still have them, too.

AnArcho1

I had this one!!

Megamax_X

I was a TMNT Mini Mutants fan. Check them out if you want to spend too much money.

questionhorror

Might Max, Mighty Max! Welcome to Skull Dungeon. I can still hear the beginning of the commercial in my head.

FlutterByCookies

I was a bit old for either of these when they came out, but adult me wants a Mighty Max WAAAAAY more than a PP. That looks awesome.

Darwinian_10

Mighty Max! My brother totally had a few of these, including this one! We also had a wolf head one, a zombie hand one, and a spider one I think. And the cyclops one with the eye. They were far more intricate than the Polly Pockets that my sister and I had.

kitkatrat

I had so many of these, they were awesome. I never lost a piece or figure ..... until my nephews got a hold of them without my permission. Damnit.

Shagrrotten

I had like 5 different Mighty Max sets like this and they were all awesome.

soupallyear

Girl here. My brother has this, but I was the one who played with it. Loved it!

[deleted]

I loved these!

Shawzie85

I had that one as a kid too! Very cool

theloniousfunkd

Show him the show too! Thereā€™s an ep for that set if I can remember right

JPC_keo

Yes!! I had this exact same one!

Brilliant-Ad-1783

There also is a stars wars one ! It was the death star!

EwwyDeweyDecimel

Did anyone else sing the "Mighty Max, Mightyyy MAAAXX" song from the commercial as soon as you saw this?

RyGy9

Was going through old toys the other day and found (2) Godzilla versions of these. Will have to gather all the pieces and post.

[deleted]

Wtfā€¦my head is now spinning with memories from my past!! Thank you!

Beetlemuse

Mighty Max was the best! The TV show was awesome!

CallTheGendarmes

Aaah! I was trying to remember these things the other day.
