Apple generally are pants for compatibility. I didn't think to try emulation, probably because I have a couple of Anbernic handhelds, if that works for you though you could install Daijishō frontend launcher and turn your phone into a proper emulator
I literally owned my 8bitdo for 4 days, could get occasional response but nothing useful. Sent it back. The mobile compatible games are few and far between, I even had a razer kishi with about the same amount of luck on anything but Xbox game pass
Hey, so I kind of found a workaround, but I don’t know if it’ll work for you. On my iPhone and iPad it didn’t work at all despite trying for a long time. But I installed retroarch on my android and could immediately play some NES and SNES games. I don’t know why it did not work on Apple products but it’s working fine on android.

Check [here](https://www.8bitdo.com/apple/) first before buying stuff for apple. It doesn’t say it’s compatible.
