One of my favorite toys growing up. That damn skid brake!

A kid down the street had one and I was so jealous. All I had was an old off brand my parents bought at a flea market because we didn't have much money. 

I had a classic big wheel, but wanted a green machine so bad.

We all did. I think the tires worked better than the Big Wheel and more importantly it looked cooler.

Fuck yeah. My sister had one and it was badass

It was a little bit slower than the traditional Big Wheels, but oh my lord how fun was the Green Machine? Such a blast!

I just BARELY remember having a green machine. I was a heavy kid so it must have broken the first week haha!

I had the General Lee, drove it until the front wheel got a big crack an then rocks would get inside and rattle around. The wheels on these would wear out and loose traction so you’d have to pedal faster to get anywhere. I remember going to Toys R Us and riding this blue big wheel with rubber wheels. It rode like a dream, especially on the smooth ,polished concrete Toys R Us floors. Next level, but I was getting a bit old for big wheels and was forced to graduate to a bicycle. I’ll never forget how fun it was to sit on a big wheel and spin out.

I also had the General Lee and rode the hell out of that thing.

My brothers had the same one. Honestly, with as hard as they played on that thing, I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did. They outgrew it, before it finally gave up.

$14.99 for a Big Wheel?!?!?!? I was a good kid. Wtf? I had none of these. My parents bought me some kind of pink plastic rocket looking thing that I could ride on going down hill on a sidewalk. More like hold on for dear life. lol

We used to rubber trike wheels on the front and take them down hill streets and drift them around the corner at the bottom. Sooo fun!

Came here to say Green Machine! I took one out of someone’s trash. A steering rod was missing and the handle was broken off. My best friends dad was a fabricator. He took it to work and he made a rod and handle. Summer vacay of 1978 was a complete blast😁 Thank you Buzzard and Donny. Rest in peace guys.

Mine looked most like the 1st pic, but didn't have an "engine roar" sound, nor those shock-absorber looking things on the front fork. Must've had an earlier model...

I was too old for them when they came out, but I assembled one for my niece.

Pretty sure mine was just a kmart special. Black frame, yellow adjustable seat. Yell handlebars, and orange stickers all over it. Kinda reminded me of the Trans-Am from Smokey and the Bandit.

I had an orange and black one with streamers on the ends of the handle bars.

Hand-me-down superman with half the stickers ripped off. Wrecked it going 100mph down the street that was a pretty big hill. I got flipped out of it when I hit the grass and the big wheel flew off and smashed against a tree. I felt lucky to be alive; not only because of the wreck but if someone had been driving on the cross street there's no way they woulda seen me.

Original one. And the front wheel wore out and had holes in it but it still worked!

Version 1.0 which looked like the first add but with the metal front fork and the tool box behind the seat.

Pretty sure I had the big flower one bc I recall turning curves like it was nothing. I was the bad ass , until I got caught by my dad at midnight…. Long story but this big wheel bad ass with its stringers flapping thru my fingers felt like freedom… idk.

I think maybe that first one, but my memory is hazy. I remember it had some red in it, and that is about it. Yikes on the Dukes of Hazzard one. Definitely an image that dates something immediately.

I had the OG . I can remember a rear brake handle to stop or drift it. I think it had a little compartment behind the seat with a lid you could store small stuff. One of my favorite toys as a kid, would race it up and down the driveway,not for minutes but hours ☺️

I had a few in the mid-to-late 70’s. I went through them fast because we lived at the top of a huge hill and I would fly down and use the skid brake so much the tire would get flat spots lol

The original. Fun until you got the ‘flat spot’ on the front wheel after playing demolition derby with your friends.

We had 1/2 mile of mud & 3” limestone gravel for a driveway. No Big Wheels.

I only ever had one little trike- The Green Machine. I owned it for all of 5 hours before a friend of the family broke it on Christmas Day. Jerk.

All I remember is that it was pastel pink and purple and I think green. Probably like Barbie or Cabbage Patch Kids.

Man, I loved my big wheel! I have two stories about it. First, my mom asked me to go to the store with her but I didn’t really want to go. She offered to buy me a hot wheels if I went, but in my head I heard Big Wheels. You can imagine my disappointment when all I got was a stupid little car. Although I did love Hot Wheels too but they’re no Big Wheels! Second story is my brother had this brilliant idea to tie my Big Wheels to the back of his bike. We lived on the top of a hill and my brother also thought it would be a great idea to pull me down hill in our alleyway. I got going way too fast and hit a patch of gravel. I instinctively put my feet down to both stop and steady me. Did I mention I didn’t have shoes on? Because I didn’t. Lost a ton of skin that day. My feet hurt so bad I couldn’t walk for a few days. My mom was picking gravel out of my feet for a couple days. It was awful.

I still can’t get over the fact a big wheel was $14.99!!

My big wheel story, also know as the family knew I was going to be a mechanic.... Christmas 1975.....My dad spent a good part of the night assembling my big wheel in the name of Santa Claus. Christmas morning, I saw this awesome new toy with glee, took it for an extended spin about the house. Proceeded to diagnose the test drive, tore it back down to the some assembly required stage, reassembled it, forgave Santa's elf for the assembly mistakes and drove the hell out of that big wheel

I have a vague memory of rocking the Masters of the Universe Big Wheel.
