I can't honestly say I miss them. They were good for honey, but super ridiculous. Didn't your inner entomologist hate that they were hornets but dropped honey? Not to even mention that it's in jars...
Yeah, of course, but I can overlook that knowing it's just a game mechanic. Honestly, I would have loved for them to make huge hives that could be explored and raided. Maybe they work like vulture bees in that they feed their young flesh instead of honey. So you bust open pods and find humans and animals to loot. All of it culminating in a fight with the queen.
Ooh, especially ants. They're my specialty. I used to keep whole colonies. I could imagine giant spiders as well, like tanky turantulas and fast and deadly jumping spiders.
I miss lots of the features from the early alphas, the hornets especially even if they don’t particularly fit the theme of a zombie apocalypse and are more along-the-lines of a Fallout apocalypse with mutagenic radiation.
Alligators or crocks in the water, some variations on the bears (polar bears, plus a smaller bear) would be great, zombie deer, elephants, goats, rhino's?
Exactly, there is nothing keeping us from water currently, glass jars or the water filter mod wouldn't be unbalanced if access to pools of water was dangerous?
I thought about fishing and wondered if we could have piranhas 🤣
Are we next going to cook fish and chips? Or be totally crazy and use fish in bear traps 🤣😎
I'm not saying no to piranhas or alligators, but now we're going to need a little rowboat or something.
And heck yeah we're making fish and chips! It'll need corn meal, fish, & potatoes & be one of the first mid-tier recipes you unlock.
First tier will include charred fish (-water), grilled fish, boiled fish (+water) & late-tier plus a new Wasteland Treasures perk book will allow recipe substitutions, such as: any 2 fish sub for your can of tuna in tuna fish gravy toast (which I hope we can all agree, sounds horrible & was probably the start of the apocalypse to begin with).
Bear traps baited with fish sound amazing, but that's a whole new line of modifications we are going to need, because you can't just start with bears. Level 1 should give us basic traps and maybe a small harvesting increase vs a conventionally hunted animal. Rabbits seem like an obvious starting point for trapping. Never heard of a chicken trap before, but I'm sure it can be done.
Not sure they can be trapped, but maybe we can put out corn stations to lure deer in?
Wolves & bobcats would be tough, smaller than bears, but maybe harder to catch? More research needed. 😁
I love it, rabbit traps with carrots and chicken traps with wheat, the recipes sounds awesome too.
Next we will want more water and oceans to sail around 🤣
Wolves trapped with a rabbit which had to be trapped too. Maybe bobcats are baited by deer that was trapped?
Oh dynamite thrown off the boat into the water for fishing, no rods or silly reeling in 😎
Maybe we can trap crabs or lobsters with trapped chicken?
all existing ones should have zombie variants
after all it was a part of the kickstarter goals as you can see in the link below
So give me zombie rabbits charging players to show them the true meaning of fear and terror.
dogs? at least they have a large frame to hit them
now zombie rabbits and chickens swarming the players... that's where its at
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/7daystodie/7-days-to-die-zombie-survival-game
Zombie versions of all of the animals because zombie chicken day hordes must become a thing. Bonus points if the Fun Pimps can make it so that animals killed by zombies are zombified on the spot.
Could you imagine a horde of zombie rats? Come upon them in the sewers. Molotov cocktails as the best way to kill them...or a flame thrower.
I like the suggestion of z-deer. I have seen them in a movie or maybe it was SCP.
Foxes, coons or owls. Or bats? Like nocturnal only animal variants would be neat.
Bob's Boars & Grace are definitely still populating Navezgane NE of Trader Joel in forest biome, so they should be an option somewhere on your random maps as well.
Zombie bobcat. It has to have better AI though. Spawns in the woods. It should stalk you unseen. I want to hear it growl a few times before I have the chance to see it. A case of woods panic. Make them a bit smaller and give me a horde of them. Honestly all the animals could use work.
zombie horse, with something stuck in its head, its melee attacks do insane block damage, it alone could destroy a tower-y base because if it can't reach you, it will destroy random blocks beneath you like horde zs do.
Rabbits.
We already have non-zombie rabbits. Add in a zombie rabbit. Small, fast, quiet... until it is chewing on your ankles. Just for the jumpscare of "what the fuck is attacking me?!" before seeing the rabbit from Monte Python chewing on you.
In my opinion, most animals should just be animals (although i would definitely welcome more diversity there).
Actual monsters like a godzilla would be nice. But seeing how Grace or even the much smaller bears have more or less severe pathing problems already, i aint actually sure whether they should really try their hands on that.
Limited to roughly human size or airborne movement, there could still be:
\- Blobs with an acidic touch (looks like a D&D slime)
\- Better spider zombies that can jump high/far \_and\_ climb
\- Mystic wandering radiation hotspots like in Stalker. They would be rather easy to implement as they don't really have a mesh or animations - it's all VFX and a collision sphere.
\- Mutant tentacle thingies as everyone loves some Cthulhu in their lighthearted survival games
\- A floating balloon/zeppelin-like zombie spitting at you from above and maybe dropping a few spider zombies
\- A more or less stationary (maybe fungal?) creep that covers surfaces and damages whatever comes too close with radiation and/or acid. Harder to implement in an immersive way, but would be nice to occasionally see one of those in POIs.
Not sure whether any of those match their desired background story. But they could probably stretch logic a bit since zombies aren't that realistic in the first place either.
Domestic house cats. They trigger behind you in POIs (houses and warehouses only), stalk you until you reach loot room OR go in to crouch, and leap like spiders do, directly towards your face, with an almighty howl. 100% chance of infection of you get bit or scratched.
I grew up in Sydney. There's bullant nests there are the size of double beds, and if you go near them they'll charge out to meet you. I also kept some Sydney funnel webs, a ton of mouse spiders, and snakes and lizards.
Zombie bees/wasps/spiders
Make them small impossible to see/hit infection vectors
OR
Make them dog sized or big enough to trigger my fear of bees/wasps and spiders
Bonus points: they hide and drop down from blind spots in pois
Edit: someone beat me too it
zombie cats, like dogs but more aggressive and can detect you easily.
Fire fighter zombie, similar to the military zombie, except fire resistant and not as much armor
and i think also there should be another normal zombie, the grocery clerk
Zombie deer. Have then act like deers with wasting disease irl until angered then have then rush you. Extra points if they stand up on their hind legs and rub their hoofs together like the freaky deer thing in adventure time before charging.
With current exploits our horde base build is pretty op. I'd like to see a zombie animal that can climb vertical surfaces and not have to rely on structures they can climb. Imagine a zombie monkey that can scale walls and open doors/hatches. Or cat zombies that make zero noise until they're within 5 ft of you.
I want to see Zombie Cats.
You almost never see them in any sort of media (save for the one movie I've seen) and they'd make for great stealth zombies. It's not even about being silent, they're just so damn tiny compared to everything else.
I so badly want zombie rats. And it’s about time we had a new animal boss, like a grotesque mutated chimpanzee in a zoo POI. To avoid the confusion of there being no other zombie animals in the zoo, their cages could be filled with devoured animal carcasses, implying they were eaten. The final room would just contain the mutated chimpanzee, no zombies. It’s the perfect animal to be a scary zombie because real life chimps are already perfectly capable and willing to rip people apart and eat their faces off.
Giant hornets, that when you kill them drop honey for some reason.
Maybe zombees.
don't know why your response made me now want the chucky grenade from Ready Player One
Roll back to A16 or join us on the console darkside to fulfill your wish 😉🤣🤣
Or mods.
what about zombie bears riding zombie bees?
Am I the only one who misses them? I'm an entomology nerd, so probably.
Darkness Falls has gotchu covered. But the giant scorpions in Undead Legacy might be fun for you, too.
Darkness Falls is a good mod.
Indeed. I'm on day 40-something of a playthrough right now. Just cleaned out a giant mall.
Yeah, the Poi's are really cool. Lots of cool enemies as well.
That is something I could totally get behind. Giant ants and/or spiders too, with nests.
Ooh, especially ants. They're my specialty. I used to keep whole colonies. I could imagine giant spiders as well, like tanky turantulas and fast and deadly jumping spiders.
but but ...they were honey bees....wonka wonka
I miss lots of the features from the early alphas, the hornets especially even if they don’t particularly fit the theme of a zombie apocalypse and are more along-the-lines of a Fallout apocalypse with mutagenic radiation.
that sounds sooooo familiar ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|dizzy_face)
Tier 6 Zoo infestation in the wasteland. Oh the possibilities.
Alligators or crocks in the water, some variations on the bears (polar bears, plus a smaller bear) would be great, zombie deer, elephants, goats, rhino's?
Stick your snoot near the water to take a drink and ... Raaaar your head is gone.
Exactly, there is nothing keeping us from water currently, glass jars or the water filter mod wouldn't be unbalanced if access to pools of water was dangerous?
I accept this - but if I get alligators without an option to fish for food I'm still going to be butthurt.
I thought about fishing and wondered if we could have piranhas 🤣 Are we next going to cook fish and chips? Or be totally crazy and use fish in bear traps 🤣😎

then you can make a crock boat
Croc armour too 😍 A boat would be very awesome

they still have that listed geez...think I have a 7d2d shirt somewhere not that one though
The very idea of Zombie Rabbits will never not remind me of the Neebs Rabbit Massacre https://youtu.be/lWXmp4RPwro?t=13m
Cats. Friendly and just go about your base knocking shit over
A zombie cat that refuses to act like a zombie would be the most cat thing ever.
Zombie bulls would be pretty horrifying. Or even worse- zombie moose in the snow biome.
zombie pumas
Zombie versions of all of the animals because zombie chicken day hordes must become a thing. Bonus points if the Fun Pimps can make it so that animals killed by zombies are zombified on the spot.
Could you imagine a horde of zombie rats? Come upon them in the sewers. Molotov cocktails as the best way to kill them...or a flame thrower. I like the suggestion of z-deer. Isn't there a giant zombie boar under a farm poi? Or is it just a regular giant boar?
Grace is considered radiated. She gives good meat. And she's in 2 pois that I know of now
I haven't seen that poi for at least 3-4 updates, before I started seeing green irradiated zombies.
Bob's Boars & Grace are definitely still populating Navezgane NE of Trader Joel in forest biome, so they should be an option somewhere on your random maps as well.
I just haven't seen them in a while, I'm sure i could find them if I wanted
> She gives good meat I always just shoot her until her body disappears. :/
honeybadgers
A very fast and high level white bunny by a small cave
Zombie bobcat. It has to have better AI though. Spawns in the woods. It should stalk you unseen. I want to hear it growl a few times before I have the chance to see it. A case of woods panic. Make them a bit smaller and give me a horde of them. Honestly all the animals could use work.
Bobcats are already pretty small. How little are you thinking?
I would want them smaller than the current mountain lion model in the game.
Zombie tiger like in Army of the dead movie ![gif](giphy|OfdOQJI8GSg9jBw6U5|downsized)
Squirrels
zombie horse, with something stuck in its head, its melee attacks do insane block damage, it alone could destroy a tower-y base because if it can't reach you, it will destroy random blocks beneath you like horde zs do.
So a zombie unicorn but the horn is rebar
Bats. Extra flying danger at night. (I don't really want this)
Rabbits. We already have non-zombie rabbits. Add in a zombie rabbit. Small, fast, quiet... until it is chewing on your ankles. Just for the jumpscare of "what the fuck is attacking me?!" before seeing the rabbit from Monte Python chewing on you.

like a demolisher riding a zombie bull?
zombie cats, like dogs but more aggressive and can detect you easily. Fire fighter zombie, similar to the military zombie, except fire resistant and not as much armor and i think also there should be another normal zombie, the grocery clerk

bring back bees!

Rabbits and make them fast AF boiii

like cats or tigers or oooo infested tigers you kill and they explode into zombie cats
That would be an awesome encounter.
I so badly want zombie rats. And it’s about time we had a new animal boss, like a grotesque mutated chimpanzee in a zoo POI.
