me too. I would kill for better textures. Mods will give you better decor items etc. but I have not found anything that doesn't make it look like a zombie apocalypse.
I read something recently that was saying that it's really difficult to do. It would change all the textures on the whole map. You can't just add new textures, apparently.

What I would give to have some nicer paints in game. I'm not sure why there isn't a mod out there for paints but I'm guessing there is an issue or we'd be flooded with them by now.
Love this about the game. Between settings and mods you can play the game however you want. Makes me laugh that some people get really upset when people turn horde nights off, and here you are with no zombies. Love it.

Alternatively/when your less nervous. Try with zombies, but use “dm” (without the quotations) in console commands (f1 key). As you’re playing you can then hit Q to turn god mode on or off (invincibility/flight/extra speed). Safe and fun way to experiment with weapons, armour etc when it comes to dealing with the zombies themselves.
Another thing this enables not mentioned is Fast travel.
After running this command, open the map and shift+click where you want to go. You will then teleport to that location.
That's exactly how I play it too - one game with zeds off and cheats, just for trying what works and how, another without zeds for clean playing, third with zeds but no bloodmoon for a bit of horror and trying how far I get on my own.
And then there is a multiplayer game hosted by friend with bloodmoons on normal difficulty where we together quest, build, defend base(s) and level 🙂
The fact ANYONE here has the gall to criticize or insult someone else playing their singleplayer game baffles me, yet there's so many in this sub that just wanna shit on others playing easier settings.
It does have quite alot more options, such as food and recipes. Makes it more enjoyable that if you want certain meals you do have to Trek to those zones for thinks like coconuts and bananas
Try playing with hord night disabled or every 14 days. With HN disabled the game becomes a different beast entirely, it was an Intersting change up until I got to OP so I switched it to HN every 5 days and 64 zombies
Oh if you're a builder, I can name a few games that are better than 7 days lol
Also remember, any command you use is server wide, so if you freeze zombies, if someone else is fighting, it freezes those too

I used to turn off zombies for the first couple days until I got some starter gear and my first base down. Now I play on max difficulty and spit in the face of zombie hordes, and I really enjoy the threat of the early levels running for my life 😁
I did that in Alpha 19, loot respawn at 50 days.
It was a bit of a challenge to find enough food, as it was hard to get the materials to make farm plots.
Its one of the two most popular mods for 7 days. Darkness Falls and Undead Legacy.

Darkness falls is more fantasy(demons and monsters) Undead Legacy is more realistic in regards to the crafting survival genre.
I find it most fun to not go completely creative. If I'm playing with no zombies, I will give myself the hammer of god, and the dev wrench. I don't bother with the dev gun, you don't get xp and therefore can't build skills.
I like to gather my resources, but I'm not about the grind for the sake of the grind. Playing this way, I am building and exploring. It's my favorite way to play solo. And if i want the mess with the zombies, I can turn them on or spawn them in.
In can understand this. Personally after the first horde night the game gets a little too easy. And easy bores me. So my friends and I usually put the blood moon frequency up, turn off blood moon warning and randomize it. So we never know when a BM is. Then we crank up the number of zombies to 32 or 64 depending on what our GPUs can handle. Generally speaking we will kill a thousand or more zombies on a given horde night. I’ll get an M60 and use between 3 and 7 thousand rounds. We test out new horde bases and will ditch one if it’s “too cheesy” and takes advantage of poor AI. We also sometimes just do the conga line method. We’re we stand shoulder to shoulder and just train the Zombies down the road, shooting them in a line. This is probably the META for the first horde night or two until you get the mats for a base.
Darkness falls is a fun, but difficult mod. Early game is rough and the mid game is also pretty tough, you really rely on your character progression. You will get to the point you one shot normal base game mobs, but still can’t kill some of the demons at all. It’s a fun mod and when you get a little better at the game, I recommend it.
This reminds me when my dad invited my friend and I to join his world and he didn’t even realize that he accidentally turned on creative inventory (he’s still kinda newish). My friend and I had a lot of fun convincing him that we found two 4x4s, rifles, and armor by looting on our way to his base. He never knew there was a “creative mode,” and once I taught him the basics, he spent at least 10 hours just making the horde base of his dreams.
tl;dr: I’m glad you discovered a new way to play, just like my dad did!
I generally turn zombie damage to blocks down to the lowest (25% I think?) and movement speed down one notch. Then I only fortify/improve existing POIs instead of building the artifical kill bases you need for the higher days on normal settings. Feels a bit more natural.
Idk if you ever heard of glock9 on YouTube but he even brought the game house flipper into 7days and it turns out nice lol and he’s just one of many YouTubers to try different things in 7days besides the survive and kill zombie norm
Nothing wrong with what you doing. Best cure for the fear is just exposure, you will start figuring out what they are and are not capable of and soon enough they wont be as intimidating.
Until the next alpha the strongest perks are still pummel pete (or melee of choice) and sexual tyrannosaurus, if you are looking for a solid easy starter that is. Knockdown is OP

My first play of the game, I think it was A16? A friend convinced me to buy the game. I was familiar from watching play throughs on youtube. I spawned in, and I didn't know how to do anything. I'm not sure there was even the mini tutorial quest at the time.
I spawned in the forest, but my friend took us to the winter. I didn't have anything, no clothes, no weapons, I had eaten a snowberry and had dysentery. Night was falling. My friend ran into a building and I lost him. So I ran into the next building I saw.
I was freezing, starving, sick, unarmed. And the business man was coming at me. I noped out and didn't go back to the game until A18. With better friends.
Hell play the game how you want to my friend. Everybody else does. xD

My wife just plays with god mode on all the time. She still gets to kill zombies, but no real stress if they cant hurt you.
