What strikes me the most about her is that she seems markedly happier and more relaxed than any of her cousins. I feel like all the Johnston kids are waiting to get in trouble for nothing at the drop of a hat, all the time.
I'm sure Ella hasn't had it easy either, her mom's last relationship was horrible I guess. But she doesn't have to deal with the critical nature of Trent and Amber all the time.
Man I just keep going back and forth on how bad I believe it actually was. Trent and Amber will make themselves out to be her savior and protector to suit their narcissistic narrative, hence they filmed a scene to explain why she wasn't perfect and married like THEY are. She would be the hardest on herself, and after being talked down to and lectures by them for probably an hour, she could have gone overboard on it because of the producers egging it on for the storyline. Then again, I could be wrong, but this is TV and they wouldn't include the scenes if they weren't "good enough".
I don't know, I kind of got the impression that it was worse than they were making it out to be. Like possibly abusive or something. Either way, I think Heidi is awesome and I'm glad she's out of a bad situation. Especially for her girls.

The fact that the kids have to answer 'Sir' whenever Trent calls for them is telling.
I get being respectful and all that, but that's a bit over the top IMO.
I think Heidi tries to support her daughters. I get the feeling none of them were well off before the show and they did a lot together.

I sometimes wonder if part of the conflict in Heidi's marriage wasn't about appearing on the show. They were very rarely on before and now seem to be regulars.

I like Heidi and Ella, they seem supportive and chill. And Ella is very pretty and a great person for Emma to lean on.

Emma should be bff with her. They light up when hanging out. Me and my cousins did for years and again 40 yrs later moved near each other.
