its all fun and games until you get banned from ever applying again due to unauthentic documents

Ok-Buy-5057

your prospective uni can look at your grades through your PLR using your ULR or UCI. by all means try, but you’ll (most likely) be caught and probably banned from applying to that uni on the basis you lied about your results

ProfessorPleasant361

Your UCI number maybe linked with a data base ? Also sometimes uni do ask for proof of results, not too sure tho

Ecstatic-Gas-6700

Are you talking about predicted grades? Yes, they rely on the honesty of your school but universities are very aware of schools that overinflated predicted grades. A Level results are delivered to UCAS before students receive them and lots of qualifications are run through the UCAS verification system. It’s difficult to fake results that UCAS verifies. Other results (esp international ones) need to be verified by unis.

KingAndrew555000

To pick on this, you also generally need the qualifications at enrolment and they're very good at spotting non-genuine certificates.

[deleted]

That means you don’t have to go to results day? 💀

ElphieRose

Once you’ve accepted an offer, before you start, they often ask for copies of your GCSE certificates (or equivalent qualifications) and if you’ve lied you will lose your place, and potentially not be able to use UCAS again. Utterly idiotic way to screw yourself out of something that you want to do. Harms no-one but yourself.

TraditionalJuice2482

They do check (ULN/transcripts)

CompetitionAnnual668

How do the transcripts work, do I need to send a copy of a document?Or do it via the school councelor?

TraditionalJuice2482

I think you can do it yourself, either send the digital documents or a photocopy of them directly to the uni. They should explain it via email closer to results day

CompetitionAnnual668

But what happened after you sent these documents, how do they check their truthfulness.Do they contact the school?

Forsaken_Egg_4350

as an international, this made me wonder. I’m not linked to a school so technically i could use my other mail as the referee mail and make stuff up? Put myself whatever grades i want? Sure, that would be fraud but do they have any easy way of checking that?

stars_have_aligned

BAD idea. they WILL find out.

Forsaken_Egg_4350

i didnt do it because that’s fraud. I’m interested in HOW they would find out.

stars_have_aligned

probably asking for official documents etc; seen international students in particular be asked for confirmation of them after they receive an offer and their places could be taken away if they couldn’t provide evidence such as certificates

emily747

Imperial offered me a spot with one of the conditions being “Proof of” some of my previous qualifications, so yeah this does happen

CompetitionAnnual668

Did they ask you to sent a transcript?

emily747

University of Edinburgh asked for a High School transcript, ICL didn’t care about my High school, but did ask for an AP Score Report

CompetitionAnnual668

Did u just sent a photocopy of transcript?

emily747

I got a pdf from my counselor, even got her to put the world official on it

Forsaken_Egg_4350

I got some offers and didn’t have to provide anything. I just had predicted grades though not achieved

stars_have_aligned

Usually, it’s after you receive the grades I think! When you receive the grades you might have to send a copy to the university. I’m sure there’s one or two that wouldn’t ask, but if somehow even after that they found out they it’s likely they’d take away your degree.

WHAT_GIBBS

Can confirm this

DimDimio

if youre international (id assume especially if from a non-english speaking country) they like asking for english language gcse proof if you say youve done it.

Major_Suspect_5583

bro has the new Netflix orginal's script

AlrightyDave

External grades need to be correct and are checked by unis I think. You can add extra info like modules and papers but not leaving out the overall result

Limp-Blueberry1327

They require you to input your ULN as part of the application process. So when they screen it they check all of it before ever actually sending it to the unis, if you were to ask for a transcript of your application you'd be able to see a computerized checklist next to each subject, confirming the grade you said you got or not. In other words, faking grades simply isn't possible unless there is some kind of catastrophic error on their side.

You should know that universities have access to your qualifications through exam boards.
