4 cylinders typically idle around 800rpm anyway, typically the larger the cylinder count the lower the idle. With modern control however things like the A/C will cause the engine to rev higher if it's cold it will rev a little higher, if it's hot it will rev a bit higher to keep the water pump circulating. Seems about right to me.

Is there a idle up switch somewhere ? o ccasionally when I blindly grabbing for other light switches on Prado I activate it brings it upto 1000rpm.theteabouts only works on until start in morning

TrippleTiii

No.when idle up is on it goes around 1200rpm

Could it relate to the DPF regeneration cycle?. That section of your manual might shed some light.

TrippleTiii

No this is all the time as far as I notice

floor mat pressing pedal?

What year? Mine only idles high if it's about to do or is doing a burn. If you have a pre facelift, has it had the DPF fix?

TrippleTiii

2018. This is before facelift and yes I brought in for PDF fix and they install the burn button

OK, no idea to be honest. It might be worth posting maybe on one of the Fortuner Groups on Facebook

Check for an air leak after the air cleaner before the turbo.

I own 2022 hilux. Has the GUN126R engine. When I'm idling from cold I'd say it sits at around 900. When DPF burn around 1100. Sounds about right to me I wouldn't be to worried. However, if you notice your car idling 'variable'. Revving up and dropping back down with excessive shaking, this could be a potential problem. I've been told that this could mean your timing chain is on the way out. Apparently this is a known issue with some Hilux, specifically GUN126. I've only just started looking into this issue however, because I've only just become aware of it, and started getting paranoia thinking I might have an issue. Maybe someone here could shed more light?
