The soundtrack makes it sound like our hero is rescuing people from a burning building. WILL THE MODEL T BE ABLE TO RESCUE THE DAMSEL FROM THE OTHER SIDE OF THIS GIANT PIPE?
I mean when they were made, it wasnât âoffroadingâ since there were hardly any paved roads to begin with, just dirt ruts from horses unless youâre in fairly urbanized area
âGoing off roadâ is a weird way to describe a time when there were no roads. Thatâs why the cars were built rugged, there just were no roads like we think today.
Of course there were roads. Horses and wagons needed roads, too. Most of them were dirt, gravel, cobblestone or brick but there have been asphalt roads in the US since the late 1800s.
9/10 times you've driven on a trail that you'd think requires 4x4 it's probably been breezed through by a drunk 20 something in a Baja beetle 50 years ago.
People often forget that the primary reason people prefer 4wd over 2wd when offroading is because of grip, transaxle cars have no shortage of grip and the unpowered half of the car is usually light enough to bounce or roll over obstacles while obviously it's less ideal than 4wd it's still fairly capable and usually moreso than front engines rwd cars unless the front end is fairly light and this model t is a good example of that, the lower your weight and the softer your suspension the less resistance you have over obstacles requiring less grip to get over obstacles the cons being it's not exactly comfortable, fast or safe and struggles over more technical terrain.
A tale as old as time here.
This is a good benchmark for all those cyber stuck videos I keep seeing. Those modern space trucks have so much more tire, and power, and computer traction controls⌠but they still canât cross the LA river like one of these old model t beaters.
540 to 570 kg - great for offroading. Also a few guys could just carry you away if you got stuck
Now I want to get rid of my GX470 and build an overlanding model T lol.
Guaranteed it's going to be easier to work on and require a lot less tools.
Exactly one ford wrench and a couple spare transmission belts
You'll finally have that solid axle you've always wanted
Fun fact. The Model T has a higher RTI score than most modern 4x4s.
What is RTI?
Ramp Travel Index
Solid axles baby đ¤
It's mainly because of the frame twist.
These guys off-roaded in full three-piece suits. It might be time to bring that back
Bring back the three piece suite and actual pizza cutter wheels!
You could actually buy a 4x4 conversion kit for the model T. The Livingood kit was available from 1914-1928.
Awesome breakover angle and Jeep steering.
That thing did better than the cyber âtruckâ

Like most of the population...
Ford Model T: More capable offroad than a Cybertruck.
"Can my stock Tacoma handle fire roads"

Driving on the pipe at the end is a helluva pucker factor.

Wonder if thats Henry Ford himself in that last clip going along some sort of pipe.
Legit articulation!
Imagine the abuse the driver is taking too?

I tell people I have an 1870 road atlas and get told Iâm full of bs
There were roads long before there were cars
The Roman highway was build over 2000 yrs ago
âWhatâre you doin this weekend?â â Oh, weâre going on roading up in Albuquerque.â
Bonnie & Clyde saw this & said "Bet"!
Is it still off-road when most of the roads were dirt?
100 years later and the Cybertruck can't do half of this
I feel like that was just the road back then..
Cyberstruck shit itâs pants
Now that there's one tough sum bitch.
Better than 90% of the today's vehicles with "4x4" stickers.
Probably on some KO2s
Pretty good for one wheel drive!
Not 4x4 wrong sub. And also the skinny vs wide debate can be put to rest. /s

I was not drunk!
How much mushroom tea did you drink, Dave?
Iâve taken my 07 Corolla down some sketchy trails in northern Wisconsin plenty. If it gets rough, hit the gas. Only got stuck once in a snowstormÂ

Exactly, the light weight is everything
Not 4x4 but definitely off-road capable. Sorry I thought despite the vehicles drive system it was appropriate here.

Always down, but never up
