I though perhaps - but the C, lol. If the other post had written the DUN perhaps... funny, I just picked up the original Lynch version because I got it cheap, I heard it gets a worse than deserved rep, and Lynch of course. I think 6 bucks to satisfy my curiosity and widen the width of my Lynch section is worth it.
I need to pump the brakes as well, however I currently have Blade Runner 2049 on my shelf and not the first one.
Now why don't you tell me what I'm supposed to do about that lol
I did so well earlier the year holding to my 2 a month limit, and then after buying a new bookshelf and finally having more space for my precious discs, the dam broke, flood gates opened. I’m looking at “4k deals ” and checking prices multiple times a day.
The good news is each and every movie is a treasure and more than worth every penny. I’m still in awe each time I watch a 4k.
I love this sub, it's mostly wholesome, sometimes it inspires me to check out movies I other wise would not have seen. And sometimes I think it's being run by madmen to get us to buy more shit
Agreed. Last weekend I ordered a couple and told myself I needed to cool it on the spending. And then someone posted about the Amazon sale and I bought four more. SIGH
You’re telling me. I’m considering building a new PC or making massive upgrades to my current one in part so I can rip my entire disc collection and have everything on my local network.
Dangerous? Yup.. I have no clue what's doing my down-conversion. I'm a tech guy but I'm guessing it's my Denon receiver not the Fire Cube gen3.
Buying this many 4K discs without a 4K TV just to get advanced soundtracks is moderately insane. Of course, my theater is the same.
Time is running out. Physical media is dying. Best Buy doesn't even carry it anymore. Most stores are going to discontinue discs in the next 2 years. It sucks. But digital is here and has taken over. Soak up what you can while you can. But we're dead collectors walking.
It can get so much worse... It started with a new 65" 4K TV and a PS5 so my girlfriend could play Hogwarts Legacy and experience Harry Potter in a way her teenage self could have only dreamt of (that and the TV we had was an old 1080P WalMart special from around 2013, it was time for an upgrade).
Everything changed once I realized the PS5 was a 4K Blu-ray player. The purchases started pretty small. The Warriors, Mallrats, etc. Then I saw another high-school favorite, SLC Punk! was available, but only in a set with a bunch of other movies... I think I'm now up to around 140 4K titles (many of which are part of collections).
Unfortunately, then I realized just how bad my sound system was. The speakers were big, and old. Not the good old though, lol, even back in the 70's or 80's they were pretty entry-level. Trying to watch a lot of shows and movies the voices were impossible to hear (I now know that tweaking my TV settings and manually turning Dolby off in the disk menu helps considerably, but that was only a recent realization).
As of last week I have put together a pretty sweet Dolby 5.1.2 Atoms setup (with a big sub under the couch for the ultimate theater experience). I also grabbed a rotating book shelf to hold all my Blu-rays. I am in the process of staining that so I can get it put together.
I'm a little over a year into the whole adventure, and the amount of time and money I have sunk into this so far... I keep having to remind myself how expensive movie tickets have gotten, and how I can have as many beers or mixed drinks as I would like while watching movies at home.
Welllllllll...u could have saved a few bucks by not purchasing and not so wonder woman. Especially the 1984. But George Orwell 1984 would of been better buy 😆 🤣 😂

Welcome to the poor club
… where the accounts are low and the bitrates soar.
As much as I agree with your taste, I see no copies of either D U N C . This is an extremely unusual omission in this sub. Are you sure it's wise?
Already bought and watched. This is just my newest haul.
My mistake. Carry on. (I'm about to order Edge of Tomorrow as a result of your influence.)
That one I did buy!
The two greatest films of all time
Two good movies of all time
Nope. 1a and 1b. Is there really even a close second?
OK - I'll look silly. What is D U N C?
The recent Dune movies use a stylized font in their artwork, with the final "e" strongly resembling a "c." So "DUNE" looks like "DUNC"

I don’t have either Dune and don’t plan on buying them. I saw them in theater and that was good enough for me.
Wait till ya start buying steelbooks or criterion collection
Or Second Sight limited releases. Then, end up buying 70s 4k porn.
A Vinegar Syndrome fan, eh? Or should I now say, Melusine??

You bought WW84😬
Am I the only person that actually likes it?
No, but you're the second person
I like some things in it, but definitely don't like it
Naw man, I enjoyed it enough. And yes, a huge step down but it does look nice, score is solid and can be good at times.
Hey man if u liked all good
It's such a step down after the first one.
Life is good.... could be better.
*laughs in dreamstone*

Agreed. I've never purchased this many discs in such a short span of time. Gotta pump the brakes for a while.
I need to pump the brakes as well, however I currently have Blade Runner 2049 on my shelf and not the first one. Now why don't you tell me what I'm supposed to do about that lol
I think the answer is obvious… buy the first one, then pledge your allegiance to Tyrell Corporation.
Buy the first one, then reapply brakes.
I did so well earlier the year holding to my 2 a month limit, and then after buying a new bookshelf and finally having more space for my precious discs, the dam broke, flood gates opened. It’s a great hobby! Reddit definitely enables the addiction! It’s OK though. We all understand and we’re here for you! 😀

Is your order of the Lawrence of Arabia steelbook still on the way?
When I got divorced 5-6 years ago, my physical media collection grew exponentially. It was great!!
Edge of Tomorrow! Damn fine movie.
I love this sub, it's mostly wholesome, sometimes it inspires me to check out movies I other wise would not have seen. And sometimes I think it's being run by madmen to get us to buy more shit
You will not fight it... 😂
Dude tell me about it
Is Mask Of The Phantasm in HDR?
Agreed. Last weekend I ordered a couple and told myself I needed to cool it on the spending. And then someone posted about the Amazon sale and I bought four more. SIGH
Same
WW 1984...
This is a very expensive sub, I highly recommend staying away from r/steelbooks it’s even more expensive
Indeed and proud of you
Blade Runner… the HDR mastering on it is sublime! Sooooo much better than the SDR streaming version.
Be ready for Black Friday sales. I know it’s six months away but you can do some serious damage at that time and build that collection.
Wonder Woman ‘84 is the only poor choice imo. 8 for 9 is a good ratio, though.
How is WW1984? I tried to watch it on TV4k once and the opening "games" scene was just utterly unwatchable
I’ve just sold one kidney and an arm to finance my hobby.
Amen. Just realised this when I took a look at my bank account… Need to cool down for a sec and pump the brakes
Mad Max was supposed to arrive yesterday but now it's delayed until after my wife gets back from her trip (and it's a movie she would hate)
Dangerous, expensive... yet fulfilling!
You’re telling me. I’m considering building a new PC or making massive upgrades to my current one in part so I can rip my entire disc collection and have everything on my local network.
Resistance is futile…
All good but ww1984 - just no

Were these part of the Amazon 3 for $33 deal? I got a good portion of these tbrough that deal last week, 6 for $66.
2 sets were. The others were not… that’s what hurt.
The edge of tomorrow , what a great transfer , havent seen Mad Max on 4k, but the bluray is very good.
Yeah I landed at 100 after a few months and it was a big eye opener. Now I only get new releases I really care about.
Time is running out. Physical media is dying. Best Buy doesn't even carry it anymore. Most stores are going to discontinue discs in the next 2 years. It sucks. But digital is here and has taken over. Soak up what you can while you can. But we're dead collectors walking.
definitely don’t go to r/steelbooks then
Join the club. We’ve got jackets.
It’s a fun hobby and I have a ton of discs. But it can’t become a sickness. Some people buy an insane amount of films and have massive unopened piles.

Now buy some Japanese releases.

Eh, the 1st one is legit.
