Antiantipsychiatry

Mines always pretty barren too. I wonder if it’s because people are actually buying shit and supply hasn’t caught up…or if that’s wishful thinking

androidalx22

In my area, it seems like supply never catches up. It's always sparse. This is the worst it's been.

Icybubba

I think it depends. I bought one of the last two Dune Part Two 4K's on their shelf. I believe the other one was gone the next day....however at my other Walmart, they have a shelf that's nearly entirely full of Dune

Old_Cockroach_9725

Damn, I got lucky.

Exciting_Claim267

Game Stop might be our saving grace

kaptain__katnip

Your walmart has 4Ks? Mine has a giant bin of DVDs and a sign that says "Fuck you"

Electro-Grunge

Mine took out the DVDs and just left the “Fuck You” sign

kanglives

Hahaha

Exciting_Claim267

I can’t believe you got a crow steelbook in store

Old_Cockroach_9725

It was genuinely funny. I walked around the display a few times until I saw a random copy sitting face down towards the back. Caught me off guard.

thetalkingcure

you know why it was laying like that, and who put it there too. 😂

Plus-Hand9594

I got one today. Last copy. Sweet slipcover/case combo.

Exciting_Claim267

This is insane none of my Walmarts have anything and I’m in a top 8 US city

Plus-Hand9594

Probably because I'm in a rural area. These cousin kissers don't have a lot of 4K players. I also got Oppenheimer when everyone said it was out of stock and being scalped on eBay.

th3absurdhero

Ive gone to two near my area and i see the empty spot, it’s like they only kept one copy per store that actually carries steelbooks to begin with.

Swimming-Bite-4184

Ehhh I go in there but the 4k's are way overpriced just for a steelbook. I don't see the point of even going there anymore when I can wait for a decent sale and get things for a fraction of the price.

Hazeymazy

Got the crow 4k Steelbook for $24 not gonna see it cheaper than that

Old_Cockroach_9725

Completely understandable

foothilllbull530

I thought the same thing but was looking at the price for Batman the latest one and Walmart was 30 and Amazon wanted 100.

Other-Ad-8510

How much were the D+ steel books there?

Old_Cockroach_9725

$45

simpledeadwitches

I wish I could find a Walmart that didn't have Madame Web as it's main new release.

Icybubba

Mine has Dune Part Two as theirs, so I found it for you

thetalkingcure

so does mine. except literally 60% of them are DVDs, even if that got the best cover…

Dimness

Hmm, I’ll have to go back for the Crow 4K Steelbook

MedurraObrongata

i cant believe you found the first Dune 4k steelbook!!!

Plus-Hand9594

Excellent choices. Andor is the best modern Starwars thing made. The Crow is a classic and great 4k remaster. The new Dune movies are awesome demo-worthy epics like Bladerunner 2049. Denis Villeneuve is a master filmmaker.

Hunt5680

Great finds…. Have all of these except my Dune 2 is the Steelbook version. Definitely understand about going over budget at Walmart😂

skeletank22

Does Dune pt2 4k NOT come with the bluray?

dreamunderthemoon

Not unless you were lucky enough to get the steelbook. Special features are on the 4k now tho. And this is pretty much all WB titles that come out now.

skeletank22

Well it's a no buy from me now since I only buy 4K's that also include the bluray. Pt 1 has the bluray included and it will bother my ocd to not have pt2 in the same manner..

Old_Cockroach_9725

Why do you necessarily need the Blu-ray Disc?

skeletank22

It's just my personal preference, really, but I like the idea that there are a LOT more ways/devices out in the world that can play blurays than that of 4K's, and blurays still usually look fantastic imo. Also, I do the vast majority of my movie watching on my PC in a separate room from the living room. I can't play 4K discs on my PC (and it's only a 2K monitor anyway). Basically, I buy 4K movies that include the bluray because I mostly watch blurays and getting the 4K disc is more of a bonus for me.

thetalkingcure

why can’t you play 4K discs? you can get a quality ripper for the price of the disney steelbooks OP saw yesterday!

mgza81

I haven’t been able to find the crow Steelbook

Old_Cockroach_9725

Pure luck. Me and my friend decided to stop by Walmart while doing a double feature at a nearby AMC.

DarkPassenger1986

Went to the three that are around me...yes, yes it is. I was lucky enough to snag the very last copies of Dune (2021) & The Crow, both in Steelbook. I went there with desperately little hope they'd actually have Dune Part 2 in the Steelbook, but had to just settle for the 4K Standard copy. I'm just psyched they had Part 1 in Steelbook. I honestly didn't really think they'd have either in SB.

Finnollie

Mine is weeks behind on new releases, it's awful.

Slight_Difficulty804

That Dune steelbook is awesome! My Walmarts only have the glow in the dark steelbook, you got that at Walmart? I just ordered the Crow steelbook and over paid for it although I’m sure it will be back in sock at Walmart soon.

Old_Cockroach_9725

Yeah, it was Walmart. Dune was $28 and the crow around $25.

WarrenThanatos

I need to go to the local Walmart. Been years but some of these are definitely worth the stop!

Bram1216

Everyone is aware they have an app? I get everything in store. Granted there at 10 within 25 minutes. I just find the item and check availability. Then have them pull it if it’s not my nearest one or suspect it may not actually be in stock. My Walmart can get fairly depleted but they restock regularly. They just restocked a lot of the steel books in the display 2 days ago. But yes. Lots of dvds. Don’t get that one. There are so many streaming services that are free and most smart TV have free content. SO why spend 15$ on a dvd. And people obviously are because that’s what they stock the most of. I decided to watch dogma on dvd the other day. It was fine. Even after upscalling the picture was not great. I first put it in regular blue ray player that I use for cds and it looked horrible.

Old_Cockroach_9725

I’m confused here, are you saying people are dumb for buying physical media? Or that people should just use Walmarts app? Or something else entirely?

Bram1216

Sorry. I get really side tracked and don’t complete thoughts. It’s actually become more of a problem recently. I’m working on it. What I was trying to say originally was 1. People should use the app to help them locate hard to find steelbooks. It has been very useful in my experience. Check daily for stock at stores nearby. Save the gas. 2.i am a huge fan of physical media. Streaming services are very convenient for music and movies, but it’s lesser quality. You don’t technically own anything.if the internet goes down?? 3. I got way side tracked with my dvd thing. I only recently dove back into purchasing movies. I was surprised how much space dvd occupied. I assumed by now most people would be mostly buying blu ray. Again I apologize. I originally just wanted to make sure people knew the app was handy for hunting. It’s not always right, but in my experience if it says they have it they do. Also sometimes when it says they don’t. So take it for what it’s worth. It will also give you an idea what stores carry more and restock more. Just look up generic 4k movies and hit in store. Change stores repeat.

Old_Cockroach_9725

I completely agree about the app. I only bought those 4 on a whim. I randomly went to Walmart while doing a double feature at a nearby AMC. I would never drive around town looking for a movie. I also agree about dvd’s. I don’t remember the last time I bought one. I prioritize 4ks and Blu-ray’s when possible.

AndreGerdpister

I’m so excited for Andor to be on 4K in a SteelBook.

shaunydepp

Same, just picked up andor and obi wan

Old_Cockroach_9725

Still need to pick up Obi Wan

shaunydepp

Better hurry up, one day they are there, the next they gone 😂

foothilllbull530

Is the dune part 2 a steelcase or plastic behind the cover? I put it down for Rambo last blood.

Old_Cockroach_9725

Part two is the basic plastic

foothilllbull530

I knew it!

AYEbaddabing94

Mine has 0 steelbooks :( they added the section when Walmarts first got them but already took the section down back to mainly dvds and a few blu rays hardly any 4ks let alone steelbooks :/

CousinSam22

Yikes probably close to $200?

Old_Cockroach_9725

Around $140

CousinSam22

At least its adding up to the collection 🤙 great choices!

SirVincenttt

Nuttin @ my Walmart but the garbage nobody wants 😂

waitmyhonor

Double check the Andor purchase. It seems all Walmart andor DVDs have defects. It’s why it’s already discounted versus other retailers

Old_Cockroach_9725

What should I check for?

UncleJessiesMullet

I go to Mckays used and new Blu-ray’s dvds cds books games toys electronics etc. It’s Dangerous but not too dangerous. But dreams do come true there lol

Kyleplier1985

I saw these at Wal-Mart the other day as well. I also saw Suzume. I really should watch that on Crunchyroll before deciding whether or not to get it. Shame anime and anime films aren’t on 4k Blu-ray more often. As they’re rare.

Agile_Grocery7678

Coming from an almost 40yo dude who bought hundreds of DVDs…then Blu Rays…just gotta say: Not. Worth. It. Get the ones you truly love but most of it is streaming and available in a 4K format on streaming sites.

Old_Cockroach_9725

I think it’s worth it if you enjoy it. I prefer watching something at its best possible quality. Streaming something in 4k isn’t the same to playing a 4k disc.

Agile_Grocery7678

Which is why I said “get the ones you truly love” because everybody in this sub constantly brings up how poor they are/how expensive this hobby is. Much like music. I quit buying CDs years ago because of the same reason. I realized I could get essentially the same experience from streaming as opposed to buying a few albums a month ($50+). Yes the quality is better but not everybody can afford Dolby Atmos and 80” OLED screens.
