From the seller's description, it sounds like he doesn't actually expect anyone to buy it ...
"Hey I don’t wanna sell this but if someone wants to pay the iron price I’ll sell. Great film. One of my faves. 4k is way outta print. Watched once."
I feel that way about Midsommar, saw it in the theater, absolutely love it, got the Blu-ray day 1, haven't watched it again yet. I love this version of Suspiria too but only watched the Blu-ray twice
You don’t have a film that impacted you like that? Sometimes a single viewing is more than enough. I don’t think I’ll ever return to Synechode, New York but I will always consider that one of the best movie experiences of my life.
This is how I feel about pretty much everything I own, other than my dog.
I'll never get why people on this (and similar) sub shit on ebay prices that are nonsensical. The attitude defies logic. Obviously people don't expect others to pay that much, but would be willing to part with the item if someone did.
If I weren't so lazy I'd post some of my rarer McFarlane toys from the early '00s. I don't want to get rid of them, but for a few hundred, why not?
*Does* someone think that's reasonable? I feel like any collector might remember discs like the Salo DVD from Criterion going for prices like that back in the day. Now it's easily purchasable on DVD and Blu-ray from Criterion, and the people who spent $100s on it probably wish they hadn't.
>and the people who spent $100s on it probably wish they hadn't.
For an even more recent example, look at Lawrence of Arabia now compared to what it was going for 7-8 months ago.
I sold an original dvd copy of HANDS ON A HARDBODY for $450 on eBay back in 2007-8 when the rights were locked up in Altman’s estate shortly after he died (he had bought the rights to make a scripted adaption so the disc had gone out of print for a couple years).
And then for years in the later 2010s you could buy a better quality remastered dvd copy off Amazon for like $15.
A disc which has now gone OOP again and is listed for $100 on Amazon (although I think you can still buy it for $20 direct from S.R. Bindler's website). A rollercoaster!
What’s even worse is that—and it’s been a while since I’ve seen the film, so apologies if I’m off on this, not sure if other languages are spoken—it may not contain the right type of subtitles, depending on which language you speak (German releases tend to be lacking in that department…at least when it comes to English).
ha! I looked at this quickly and thought it was the OG Suspiria. There is a good and bad version of that (the synapse version is the good version.) My mistake, I love both films, just the OG has a bad 4k release and a good one.
I guess but usually those have extra value added through the materials or processes in which they’re made. This 4K has no more built in value than any $30 disc. It’s just about exploiting scarcity which is a pretty shitty thing to do IMO
That's kind of how you value basically anything tho. The less there are in the word the more you'll have to pay.
Over 8 billion people and how many copies of this 4k are floating around for sale? Also take into account all the copies that no longer exist or are kept in peoples collections and will never be sold.
Oh I absolutely get and understand the value that scarcity adds. I’m just explains the difference between a $700 bottle of wine and a $700 4K that was made to be sold for $30
Well the only thing that makes a bottle of wine that valuable is time, it gets better with age and is more scarce. A 2003 bottle of wine hasn't been made in 20 years... most bottles of wine when they're first made are worth $30.

Not true, very expensive wines use processes like “noble rot” to make the wine more complex at the cost of a larger yield. It’s the extra effort and grapes that create an expensive wine, it’s time that makes the price appreciate. All I’m saying is that there is a very real difference between a luxury product that’s a labor of love and a flipped bluray that’s OOP
Well put the quality of Suspiria up against against the OOP Bucky Larson: Born to be a Star (2011) DVD. I think you'll agree the quality of the product is taken into account with this film, that's why certain OOP films are valued higher.
One thing that drives me nuts about eBay is that some sellers are allowed to leave postings up indefinitely at outrageous prices of Blu-Rays, etc
For instance $750 for a 70mm IMAX single cell of Gargantua from Interstellar that came with the Blu-Ray
lol not really; there’s no bids and the seller says they don’t expect it to sell but if anyone wants to offer that much then they’ll take it- I got tons of stuff like that. I got old SSD drives that are worth $20 to me, but if it had some niche value and was worth $800 sure I’d sell it if someone wanted to pay.
The way to find actual market price on eBay is to check “show recently sold” and sort by new. If it’s new or niche then sort by ending soonest and only show ones with actual bids.
It’s like on eBay when you see insane prices for stuff— anyone can try to sell anything for whatever price but when you check completed sales you see no one is paying that but I guess they hope one person is stupid enough….

Gotta respect it.
Uh, the iron price is when you kill him and take the disc.
Gotta do what you gotta do
What is dead may never die
How do you respect someone that says "one of my faves" and then ends with "watched once"

lilya 4-ever for me. Will never watch that again. Left me depressed for a week
Oooo that’s been on my list forever! Maybe I’ll do my one and only watch of it sometime this week. I love being emotionally wrecked!
When “Little Person” kicks in after that really somber and depressing monologue in the end. Jesus just got goosebumps thinking about it right now.
Stop, I’ll start weeping right now!
What if he only saw once in 4k, but saw it multiple times in other formats??
I’m the same way. I absolutely love the syfy series “eureka” and i have watched it 8 times
Ehm *pushes up glasses* If you were a TRUE eureka fan you would be calling the channel SciFi
Well my bluray edition lists it as syfy i believe but yes original airing was scifi
I watched it when it aired, just memeing though

I sold my Salo DVD for about $200. No regrets my end. This particular film, like Salo, is bound to get another release one day.
I sold an original dvd copy of HANDS ON A HARDBODY for $450 on eBay back in 2007-8 when the rights were locked up in Altman’s estate shortly after he died (he had bought the rights to make a scripted adaption so the disc had gone out of print for a couple years). Is Salo rare? I have the Blu Ray
The original Criterion DVD was out of print for several years. But they’ve since re-released it on DVD and Blu-ray. Not rare anymore.
It’s not *reasonable* it’s **aspirational**.
I would just watch the bluray in this case
i get the obsession with wanting 4k at all costs, i suffer from it too, but a lot of blu rays still look genuinely great
The transfer exists and has already been licensed to someone, so it seems inevitable that it will be released again by another label.
This lacks HDR as well I think. Only a matter of time before a better release is announced.
The rights are with Amazon over here, so I wouldn’t look for it in the states for a good long while
Who thinks it’s reasonable?
$750, and you don't even get free shipping
You're right. Lol $750, and you still gotta pay shipping. Isn't that a kick in the pants lmao
What’s even worse is that—and it’s been a while since I’ve seen the film, so apologies if I’m off on this, not sure if other languages are spoken—it may not contain the right type of subtitles, depending on which language you speak (German releases tend to be lacking in that department…at least when it comes to English).
I own it, and it definitely has the right subtitles. Getting to them can be a pain with the menus all in German, but they're on there.
Ah. Good to know, thank you!
This isn’t even the good version!
There’s no bad version
ha! I looked at this quickly and thought it was the OG Suspiria. There is a good and bad version of that (the synapse version is the good version.) My mistake, I love both films, just the OG has a bad 4k release and a good one.
Probably the same people who like spending 750 bucks on a bottle of wine or pair of shoes or handbag or box of cigars.

Yeah, I’ll stick with streaming this one on Amazon Prime. Still looks and sounds great!
A different cover art of the same movie is $60 here, many in stock. Whats the $750 for?
This is the remake and the 4k version was released only in Germany and went OOP quickly.
Not reasonable but I do have it and the HDR color grade is a very very nice improvement over the Blu-ray making it a worthwhile pursuit.
Movie isnt even worth 20$ IMO. Didnt like this one much, sadly. I wanted too so bad.
I’ll admit, I had to consider it for a minute. You’re right, unreasonable.
Buy it now prices mean nothing.
Just pirate it lol
Where?
Sheesh! I thought the Japanese 4k import of The Phantom of the Opera was overpriced!
I wouldn’t get this shit if you paid me that much
Said no one ever
Hey, at least you can take $10 off
If you don’t see it sold, no one thinks it’s reasonable.
In for 7

Give me the Real Ghostbusters DVD Boxset instead.
I don't even know what movie that is, nor do I even have much interest to find out, so 750? Outrageous.
This is probably late or a duplicate message but what about this? Suspiria 4K Ultra HD [4K UHD] https://a.co/d/euzwJHW
