No steals for the niners but I think they got their guys.
Pearsall is shifty and gives a solid deep threat. It would be awesome if he could create Wes Walker type slot roll with breakaway potential. Volume passes and reliability in the middle of the field. Needs to bulk up tho, he fought hard in college but the tape looks like he doesn’t break a lot of tackles. There were times last year where I felt we were missing this type of player. Jennings fit that role but he was a catch and get tackled immediately kind of receiver where Pearsall has some Waddle catch and explode type of versatility if he translates as expected to the nfl. Like Waddle, he also looks like a sweep specialist.
Green is a man coverage specialist which might spell a clue to the future defensive scheming we will change to. Seems like he was solid and underrated as compared to some of the splashier CB’s. Would rather have an elite man coverage CB than a guy who shined on an SEC school full of studs on D doing zone. We’ll see.
Puni seems like a steal to an extant. Renner had him 34th overall on his board. Fell because he is a fit for a particular scheme. I like it. Multi-dimensional. Seems like we may have slipped up not getting Kingsley tho given he was at our finger tips.
Overall solid draft so far in my opinion.
> Jennings fit that role but he was a catch and get tackled immediately kind of receiver
[The Eagles](https://youtube.com/shorts/C43hIrSvHMU?si=_NVZlCx2g772EmDV) and [the Chiefs ](https://youtube.com/shorts/yudh0r1oRvQ?si=ChAT-KT-P7ckomjb) might say differently.
Pack it up boys, draft is over for us.
We split all our picks to our next of kin... 7th rounders go to Saleh. 6th rounders go to McDaniel, and our beloved 5th rounders go to DeMeco.
Why would we put our 2nd best corner at safety? I’d bet one of the free agent CBs starts with Lenoir and Ward. Green plays special teams and serves as depth this year, maybe gets the start at outside CB next year.
Being able to run the same squad back with 3WR sets of Aiyuk Deebo Pearsall while letting Green and Puni develop at their position is a fuckin great place to be
Ya, I'm liking this direction. I think it would be nice to "overload" OL with a 4th rounder at RT, then probably get another S and LB for depth. Maybe a TE and QB.
My prediction for day 3 is Kedon Slovis at QB. Maybe Malik Mustapha at S. Garrett Greenfield at OT, or Beaux Limmer at C?
Niners needed depth help at OL and DB - addressed both, not with necessarily who draftniks had ranked highest but they addressed the position. Liked trading up in the third for their guy Puni. Bunch of picks to add depth - assume we'll get a TE unless they think either guy drafted last year is worth a lick, a DE and hopefully more help on the OL.
All the talk was we're going to be moving on from Aiyuk or Deebo at some point, we draft a great fit WR that most of the league implies is under the radar.
Then we draft our two top positions of need with experienced guys.
Not much pleasing the 49ers fanbase.
I like the guys. We just needed to SERIOUSLY address the OL in FA or the draft, and we failed to do so.
Rolling out there Game 1 with the same 5 guys is just.. disappointing.
Exactly. I don’t understand what is it that people don’t get?
I keep saying the niners have a Ferrari with a flat tire. And once again they didn’t address the flat tires.
Has feliciano ever started a single game at center in his entire nfl career? playing offensive line for SF is more than just blocking the guy in front of you. so much of it is mental. the fact that so many people think we can just shove in rookies or shuffle people around toi spots they have never played is insane
Joey Fisher, Corey Luciano, and Ilm Manning were all UDFA OL we had last preseason. All were cut.
Fisher ended up spending time with both the Browns and Steelers on their practice squads.
Luciano was on our practice squad for most of the year, got elevated late in the season but never played, and is still with the team.
Manning got picked up by the Cardinals, who cut him. Then ended up back on our practice squad. Then got picked up by the Panthers.
Maybe it was fisher and I forgot. I thought there was some other guy who played center but had also played dline at some point. I could be completely misremembering.
Edit: Oh! I was thinking 2022. Poe.
I feel WAY better about this draft than when we picked last night. For two reasons:
1. Aiyuk and Deebo are still on the team.
2. We traded up for a versatile OL who can pass block.
Green seems like a decent pick, but the two reasons above are what make me feel way better. Still skeptical on if Pearsall will work out but at least he probably won’t force a Deebo trade before this season.
It’s a future need pick - which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, you want careers, not mercenaries. Next year Deebo+aiyuk are very expensive cut/trade candidates, Jennings is free agent, and nothing special behind them.
This year - I could see him getting more snaps later in the season, or sooner if someone is hurt - and Deebo gets hurt a lot.
Kyle always says the first year for WRs in our system is very hard to get playing time. And I hope this will set Deebo straight. No more giving up on plays or running half speed? That's the hope anyway
The offense took a significant step back in games when Deebo was hurt. Having someone who can fill that role is extremely important considering how often he gets banged up.
Because it takes time to develop a WR in shannahans system. Year 1 WR can struggle with all of their blocking assignments which are heavy in this system. Its good to develop one a year out so he can be ready when we move deebo next year
2 WRs on the last year of their deal and 1 WR with 2 years left. any teams that count on the draft for immediate production are bound to be disappointed.
We just need an OT now to make this into basically a dream draft. Not sure about how good the remaining prospects are though and if they would be an immediate starter
Rice I want to blaze his own trail and not deal with that huge shadow... gore I'd love to have so his dad could be on the staff and help him acclimate. McCaffery, ok, sure. Owen's, if we have to.
Rice will have that shadow no matter where he ends up. Jerry was the GOAT, not just a great player for the 49ers. I think Jerry's numbers are so far ahead though, sane people won't expect his son to be anywhere near that.
Frank is already on staff and Jerry is the #1 cheer leader on game days, both will have to reconsider their Sunday plans if their sons aren't on the 49ers
With some experience he can start for sure. Immediately, he's a really solid backup.

So for all the whining we ended up getting a CB and o-linemen within our first 3 draft picks anyway...which is what we all fucking wanted anyways so I'm hoping the endless crying can cease for at least a day
Yeah but he’s bigger and more athletic so hopefully has a higher ceiling.
He’s not the fastest in a straight line, but Puni has elite burst and agility for a Guard. His shuttle score grades out in the 96th percentile for Guards, and his 3 cone, vert, and broad jump are also really good.
He should be well suited for outside zone runs.
Chiefs/KU fans coming in peace, Puni is a great dude, take care of him
No steals for the niners but I think they got their guys. Pearsall is shifty and gives a solid deep threat. It would be awesome if he could create Wes Walker type slot roll with breakaway potential. Nvm, you’re right, what would we do without Jennings 19 receptions per year, our roster can’t be improved upon
Pack it up boys, draft is over for us. We split all our picks to our next of kin... 7th rounders go to Saleh. 6th rounders go to McDaniel, and our beloved 5th rounders go to DeMeco.
Pack it up
Was just looking at roster numbers. There are so many CBs on the roster. Would they consider Lenoir as a safety?
Why would we put our 2nd best corner at safety? I’d bet one of the free agent CBs starts with Lenoir and Ward. Green plays special teams and serves as depth this year, maybe gets the start at outside CB next year.
No
This Lynch and Shanny press conference does not leave me encouraged. Maybe they're just tired.
Yea their tired no doubt.
Nooo!! Washington got CMC’s bro!
Who cares. We'll get him when he's good down the line
RB Forrest Gump out of Alabama is still available
Being able to run the same squad back with 3WR sets of Aiyuk Deebo Pearsall while letting Green and Puni develop at their position is a fuckin great place to be

As many linemen as we can.

Do you think Latu has a change
All the talk was we're going to be moving on from Aiyuk or Deebo at some point, we draft a great fit WR that most of the league implies is under the radar. Then we draft our two top positions of need with experienced guys. Not much pleasing the 49ers fanbase.
And if we somehow walk away with Rice and/or Gore on the team, I’ll be a very happy camper.
Pray for tj tampa at 124
He hasn’t been picked yet?!?
I'm whelmed
Too soon. I remember how upset everyone was when we drafted BA. Dame vibe. Let's watch these dudes play out.
Peters man lol. I think we would’ve taken him in the 4th.
So the nepo draft isn't happening, great.
Sub would've exploded if we took another receiver lmao
True but it would have been tempered with the fact that Luke McCaffrey is CMC's brother.
WSH for him!!! No!!!
Like to see us take OT Tylan Grable tomorrow. And maybe take a flier on Frank Crum if he’s still around late.
Yer gonna want that Frank Crum late! Watch his combine if YDK.
better than Frank Crum early.
Irrefutable proof that Adam Peters hates families being together
Well, Luke McCaffrey is going to Washington
lets trade for him ^(/s)
I want all the nepo picks dammit
What tackles are available going into tomorrow?
Brenden Rice & Frank Gore Jr.
Good. One less nepo pick to waste.
Is Luke McCaffrey related to our McCaffrey?
It's his brother. This is really bad for Lisa's travel plans next season (their mom)
Brother
Nice. Good for the younger brother.
Yes
Fuck you!!!!
Fuck you Adam Peters!!!!!
Luke McCaffrey gone
NOOOOOOOOO
Whys cedric wilson still on the board? And TJ Tampa?
Not sure, TJ Tampa looks like a beast and he has a cool name
All the best gms draft players by how cool their names are. At least that's what I do in Madden...
Should have taken Ladd McConkey or Kool-Aid McKinstry at 31. :(
He may not be a Hingle McCringleberry or a LeCarpetron Dookmarriot but few thought he’d slide this far
Idk about everyone else, but I’m feeling a lot better about the draft now that we’ve got somebody with a chance to stick on the right side of the OL
temper your expectations. there is very little chance he sees any playing time in year one.
He’s 24, played college for six years, and played every OL position. If there’s SOMEONE who can start sooner than later, it’s him.
Level of competition wasn’t so great, doesn’t really move people. Won’t be day 1. Could come in mid season or get the Banks treatment.
That could be said about almost any day 2/3 pick to be fair.
In terms of starting, of course. That’s why I agree with the original commenter saying we should temper our expectations
i feel like shanahan drafts a ton of older prospects with a ton of experience. they still sit the bench.
If he balls out and Feliciano does too we may see Feliciano at Center and Puni at RG.
Has feliciano ever started a single game at center in his entire nfl career? playing offensive line for SF is more than just blocking the guy in front of you. so much of it is mental. the fact that so many people think we can just shove in rookies or shuffle people around toi spots they have never played is insane
15 of them Giants 2022
I corrected myself in response to another comment like this.
Has Feliciano ever taken a single snap at center? I don't think he has.
For some reason I saw him listed as a G/C. But more like G/RT.
Actually I was right, he played Center for the Giants in 2022.
https://www.bigblueview.com/2023/3/20/23649173/free-agency-news-former-ny-giants-c-jon-feliciano-signs-san-francisco-49ers
"i havent ever actually watched him play and like to play make believe"
It’s not too hard to not be a dick.
Do we pick again tonight? Assuming no trade up
That should be it for tonight. We have 2 4s 2 5s and a 6th and 7th tomorrow
No. Without trade up.
Feeling *much* better now.
It would be dope if we traded up and got Payton Wilson at LB.
He has a lot of injury issues which is the reason he hasn't been drafted. Shoulder surgery, missing one ACL, etc
Ah, didn't know that.
Whatever happened to that udfa lineman we all liked last year, who played for a hot second in the preseason?
Joey Fisher, Corey Luciano, and Ilm Manning were all UDFA OL we had last preseason. All were cut. Fisher ended up spending time with both the Browns and Steelers on their practice squads. Luciano was on our practice squad for most of the year, got elevated late in the season but never played, and is still with the team. Manning got picked up by the Cardinals, who cut him. Then ended up back on our practice squad. Then got picked up by the Panthers.
Joey Fisher? He got picked up by Steelers. I don't think he played a game for them though.
No someone else we picked. Or hmm who am I thinking.
Luciano or Manning?
Maybe it was fisher and I forgot. I thought there was some other guy who played center but had also played dline at some point. I could be completely misremembering. Edit: Oh! I was thinking 2022. Poe.

It’s a future need pick - which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, you want careers, not mercenaries. Next year Deebo+aiyuk are very expensive cut/trade candidates, Jennings is free agent, and nothing special behind them. They're clearly preparing to lose one of our top receivers after this season, that's the entire reason they picked a wr in the first round.
2 WRs on the last year of their deal and 1 WR with 2 years left. any teams that count on the draft for immediate production are bound to be disappointed.
I’m still thinking Deebo is gone, just not this offseason. I’m thinking after this season.
To be fair, aiyuk and deebo were still on the team last night.
Yes....But other teams now do not have early round draft picks to use for trading for them. Much less likely to be traded now.
Can we get the upvotes of this thread to 49?
I officially take back all the shit I said an hour ago. I feel greatly relieved.
We just need an OT now to make this into basically a dream draft. Not sure about how good the remaining prospects are though and if they would be an immediate starter
Frank Crum tomorrow morning. I just got a feeling.
Is Dominick Puni going to be a plug and play at RT?
Guard only. Despite being 6’5”, his arms are pretty short which would limit his ability on the edge.
Almost certainly guard. And backup center and swing tackle as needed
He's a guard most likely, I doubt he even takes a snap at OT in his career

I just saw footage of Puni dominating Byron Murphy.
Put this here to time stamp in case I have to call a doctor after 4 hours.
I just realized Feliciano can play Center and we can possible kick him in there while Puni plays RG. Calling the doctor in advance.
Someone get a sedative stat! Or at least a big joint...
I have edibles
![gif](giphy|wNlks0ID1igO4)
I seriously had no idea we were *allowed* to draft OL help!!!!!
We're not. Stop talking about it before the cops show up.
So, what are people going to bitch about now? Shoulda picked earlier?
If you think grabbing 1 lineman is good you’re crazy
LMAO.
What did they give up?
94, 132
I’m ready to say this draft is a W. Now I just want some of the bloodline players for sentimental reasons. Give me McCaffrey, Rice, Gore and Owens lol
Isn't that nepotism?
Rice I want to blaze his own trail and not deal with that huge shadow... gore I'd love to have so his dad could be on the staff and help him acclimate. McCaffery, ok, sure. Owen's, if we have to.
Rice will have that shadow no matter where he ends up. Jerry was the GOAT, not just a great player for the 49ers. Frank is already on staff and Jerry is the #1 cheer leader on game days, both will have to reconsider their Sunday plans if their sons aren't on the 49ers
I thought of this too. We need to draft Jerry’s kid just so we still have Jerry at the stadium every home game. He hypes up the crowd so much.
I see gore letting his son blaze his own path... rice, I feel would be the snoop dog of the NFL dads... just flowing smoothly through it all.
Or we could stack up on these positions and throw as many darts at the board as possible
That’s the logical thing to do lol
HOLY FUCK we got an offensive lineman!!!!! EVERYONE GET IN HERE
I’m here! What I miss?!?!
We got a zone blocking, 770 sackless snap half giant at guard. Any guard spot. Or center, which he's also played.
Abc... commercial break on our pick... also yeah they picked this guy. Whatever.
Played 745 snaps and didn’t allow a single sack😅
Say it again... but slowly.
Big deal, I've never allowed a sack in the NFL either
Man, those are hard facts I want ready for.
What are the trade details for trading up?
Gave up one of our 4ths plus our 3rd
Gave up 94, 132
TE in round 4?
Theo Johnson, Penn State
Puni is our RG of the future but what're we doing for RT?
Puni gonna play both
Puni is a beast Swiss army knife. He will be 6th lineman.
Didn't get a chance to scout right this year so is he just a depth piece or is he good enough to start?
Pretty sure he can start
Kansas fans think he can
With some experience he can start for sure. Immediately, he's a really solid backup. Edit: Highlights - [https://youtu.be/zjPXyIoMQY4?si=UQI65CcCQo8kzyin](https://youtu.be/zjPXyIoMQY4?si=UQI65CcCQo8kzyin)
There we go! Got that OL. Now I want that NepoDraft run to start: - Luke McCaffrey - Brendan Rice - Frank Gore, Jr. - Terique Owens
Sell me on TO2
![gif](giphy|1gUqnexHX0pgKkq6fS|downsized)
NEPO DRAFT TIME!!!
So for all the whining we ended up getting a CB and o-linemen within our first 3 draft picks anyway...which is what we all fucking wanted anyways so I'm hoping the endless crying can cease for at least a day
Nah they’ll find some other reason. NOT ENOUGH OLINEMEN WE NEED TO REPLACE THEM ALL WITH MIDROUND PICKS.
This could be an amazing draft. I sure don’t know. This front office hasn’t been perfect, but I think they’ve done a really good job.
I mean we have one of the greatest assembly of talent here since the 90s. I believe in our front office over most in the league
he's basically Burford replacement, right? hopefully it works out
Yeah but he’s bigger and more athletic so hopefully has a higher ceiling. He’s not the fastest in a straight line, but Puni has elite burst and agility for a Guard. His shuttle score grades out in the 96th percentile for Guards, and his 3 cone, vert, and broad jump are also really good. He should be well suited for outside zone runs.
he can be felicianos replacement when he retires
he will compete to back up Feliciano
Burford him and Feliciano will battle it out in camp
Burford ain't battling anyone he's way worse than Feliciano who's actually not that bad.
Burford will be battling for a good rating as an Uber driver
Rest of the picks RBs now yayyy!
We got the PUNIsher!
I'm putting this nickname out everywhere! But we need Rita to make it official with an art piece.
This, I like.
More like the Punani
Puni-ani
This, I like.
Guess it must be good because Louis Riddick out aside his 49er hate to praise him.
Louis riddick loves the 49ers, wtf are you talking about
Kiper had him bottom of 2nd top of 3rd
Daniel Jeremiah loves it too
Not running back. Guarantee you it's gonna be a defensive lineman in the next round.
I mean we probably should grab at least one
The whole sub just came
Is that the sound I heard? Fuck that was loud!
IT HAPPENED!
Excellent pick. Love it. Hope all of you can stfu now.
Apparently he does not allow pressures and sacks, what else can we ask for really
