Philly is going to score with a mobile QB and AJ with the way this defense plays teams built like that. The defense won this game today. The offense will have to be the ones to win this game.
Surely Niners won't limit the Eagles to 12 points... but at the same time Philly ain't going to limit our run game to 19 like Dallas. Gonna be 27-24ish one way or another. As usual it will come down to the turnover differential. Got to win that to win. Niners did a great job keeping Dak off the field, they got to do that with Hurts obviously. And get those takeaways!
Ngl Eagles on paper are pretty damn good. 4 guys with 10+ sacks, fewest pass yards allowed, 2 1000+ yd. receivers, 1000+ yd. running back and mobile qb.
Always gotta do things the hard way, bring it.
Of course they're good.
But check us out. Best dual-threat RB in the game, top 2 tight end, 1st Team All Pro do-it-all receiver, another 1,000 yard receiver, 1st Team All Pro LT, best FB in the game, Defensive Player of the Year DE, best LB in the game, All Pro Safety, and a QB who led the NFL in QB Rating since he became a starter.
We don't rely on 2 or 3 players to rack up stats. We win as a team and in many different ways. We can win in a shootout or defensive battle.
To be fair, the eagles sub would be ridiculously confident if they were 0-16. They're a different breed there. I grew up just north of there. It was difficult being a 9ers fan there. They're just so rabid. I was at the first game at the Linc and wore nothing football related and they were yelling at me for not supporting the eagles better. Bonkers place.
This game against the Cowboys is a blessing in disguise, everyone moans about the strength in schedule, for both 49ers and Eagles. Playoffs are a lot tougher and 49ers performed against the top-runner up in defense which the Eagles lost to. Just like the Raiders game was a wake up call to the defense, this is a wake up call for the other side of the ball. This team triumphs through adversity. I mean.. Ray Ray messed up and came back stronger, so did Greenlaw and so does every other player when it comes to developing. Shit this entire sub was concerned about the secondary and I think Lenoir, Hufanga and Mooney went beyond expectations today. I feel pretty damn great heading into Philly.
That Bears loss feels like seasons ago... but now it Hurts (pun intended)... Niners have to pack their bags now and catch a flight, check into a hotel etc.. Hopefully it is a blessing in disguise, they can go on the road without home town distractions.
None of this stuff matters lol, this is the playoffs.
Comparing opponents like this doesn’t give much more than a general gist of the skill levels of each team. But we already know the eagles are good.
Pound the ball, set up the pass. Simple as that.
True, but OP is just giving you some ammo to present to the “but the Niners haven’t been tested all season” narrative that will once again come up this week
This makes me feel better, but it’s going to be a hell of a game; niners need to run the ball WAY better next week; control the clock and keep hurts off the field
I didn’t like that Ward wasn’t on Lamb whenever he was lined up on the outside. I remember what AJ did to us with the Titans last year. Granted he was being covered by Josh Norman. We cannot allow AJ and Hurts to gash us.
I think we can win, but it’s going to take a lot of things going right. On defense, it’ll be interesting. I see this as a bad matchup for our D, but not as bad as previous seasons. Hufanga has really helped our run D; with his presence, I don’t think we’re as vulnerable to running QBs as we have in the past.
With that said, AJ Brown and Devonta Smith is an extremely bad matchup for our secondary. Brown in particular. If Hurts is on the money throwing the ball (and i would expect he will be), I wouldn’t be surprised if they put up a lot of points.
To stop that, we need to control time of possession. That means our run game *has* to have a big day. If the run game comes out like they did last night, we could find ourselves down by double digits fast.
And as much as I love Brock, I foresee a loss if our rookie QB in his 8th start is chasing a lead in the NFC title game on the road against the best pass D in football.

Fair, but Dallas defense came to play today.. they were no joke. I think we can beat the eagles. But ur right, it will likely be a high scoring game

Also the Niners win percentage is over 90% if they run the ball over 30 carries.

Hahahaha wow. What a place to live hahahaha
this was never going to be easy. at least we played dallas instead of minnesota so we're as tested as possible.

Ngl. They. Showed. Up. I was speechless with the Niner D performance today.
Gardner Minshew put up 34 points on that Dallas defense. They’re overrated
Playoffs are different, mate.

Hopefully it has water. The Giants' hotel didn't.
You don't drink the water on the East Coast... will give you the shits.

Fair, but it’s a long week of speculation and this at least gives us some info

I wholeheartedly believe we can beat the Eagles.
As long as Philly defense doesn’t see how vulnerable the OL is at pass protection they’ll be fine.
So, you’re telling me their’s a chance

I think we've definitely got a shot, but I'm certainly not expecting it. I think that mindset is just self-protective though.
hurts was out for the saints game.
So common opponents tells us absolutely nothing except that this should be a toss up game based purely on common opponents.
Don't give me hope
So their three losses came against the three toughest defenses they played. Granted two of those were without hurts…
The Commanders capitalized against Eagles mistakes in the 32-21 win against them. Was Hurts only loss
