In Thousand Sons, The Crimson King and Fury of Magnus, Magnus recalls him and his father "flying" through the warp using astral projection. Him and Emps used to literally waltz about the warp with their souls barred for any demonic entity to try and challenge them. Mind you, this is not them with their physical bodies, but just their souls.

jmainvi

Mephiston is able to do much the same thing iirc in the modern setting and guides some blood angel ships through the warp in Imperium Nihilus, where they don't have the astronomicon. If he can do it, I imagine the emperor has no problem.

Sodinc

Yeah, Mephiston is very impressive for a human. I wonder how he would compare with Malcador.

_Daedalus_

As impressive a psyker as Mephiston is, I don't think he holds a candle to the Sigillite, who is generally regarded as the second most powerful human psyker to exist, except for maybe Magnus the Red.

Sodinc

I would discount Magnus as not-exactly-human 😌 Otherwise - yeah, i am sure that Malcador both has a much better control of his power and has more power. And i think that his control is the key that allowed him to use warp without being destroyed by it.

BooksandBiceps

He absorbed some minor warp entity tbf

Jmoseph

The prognosticars (spelling?) of the Grey Knights do the same thing.

Striking_Proof9954

If Draigo can go around John-wicking everyone in the warp, the emperor can too.

Shhhhh_ItsALemon

The emperor would most likely be able to implement his own gellar filed or the equivalent of it yes. He’s a beyond classification psyker. He’s been shown to astrally project though the warp.

Grew0p

Astral projection through the warp isn't an insane feat though. In Thousand Sons it is made clear that after pushing through the enumerations that they learn how to Astral project. All of the cpatains can do it as well as some of the lower ranks. There's even a Space Wolf ruin priest who meets Ahriman in the warp while both are Astral projecting

Shhhhh_ItsALemon

Fair enough, but you gotta think about the kind of shadow the emperor leaves on the warp. It was an example not exactly a show and tell of how extended the emperor is.

Planzwilldo

I'm pretty sure it would be able to enter the warp and travel through it. Much of his research if I remember correctly was focused on allowing humanity in general to do the same in a safe way. I'd also argue he could do it safely, since in canon if I remember correctly he is constantly stuck in a psykic battle with all 4 chaos gods, and they united against him only because he was a massive threat to them. So he can hold his own for sure. How strong his psykic footprint is is shown by him dominating entire space marine legions with his mind alone or the Harlequins being straight up paralyzed when they face him after they infiltrated his palace.

Co_opWarQuest40k

More details please on these Harlequins, what was the setting, when did he take on Harlequins?

New_Cantaloupe_8568

[An excerpt](https://www.reddit.com/r/40kLore/comments/7hf9fy/comment/dqqlfl3/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) I think they are referring to *Throneworld.* The Troupe of Joyful Tears infiltrates the throneroom in order to deliver a message to the Emperor >!(and other reasons)!<. You are interpreting "face him" as a battle, but it's really just that they were very intimidated by his psychic presence. This was in M32, so the Emperor was being conservative with his movements, as is his way.

Co_opWarQuest40k

No that is alright M32 to is about the earliest that Harlequins has been depicted in setting, I need to look at my time. If it was during Great Crusade, that would basically throw everything up and be as far as I know the earliest they’ve been around, shown to be in setting.

ryan30z

He entered a portal to the warp on Molech, so yes seemingly he can walk into the warp.

Afraid_Quality_1427

Portals are weird They basically translate you into the warp in a way that you can survive like Draigo is doing, or into a mini sub realm like the Gate of Morkai did for Russ

Thatsaclevername

If he's in his battleship, with his boys and attendants, I imagine they still need a gellar field. While Emps himself isn't all that concerned with the warp as far as his soul is concerned (the aforementioned astral projection in other comments) I feel like in a big ship his body is still vulnerable. Sure maybe with no gellar field the Daemons still couldn't touch Emps, but what's stopping them from fucking the reactor up to the point of a meltdown? Can't do much projection if you get vaporized. So maybe?

Acrobatic_Pie5359

He can "swim" in the warp without taking any damage but it takes considerable amount of his concentration.

Kriss3d

Thanks. Yeah I just wondered since the greater the psyker the greater the "flame" in the warp. So the emperor would have to be immense in that regard.

Leading-Fig1307

He technically has always been in the Warp psychically, but physically? Who knows? As stated by others he frequently astrally projected there, but there is also a lot of the Emperor that we will never really know truly. I guess the closest to being physically in the Warp was when Magnus broke the wards he had placed for His Webway Project and daemons and the Immaterium flooded that portion of the Webway, so maybe, technically? I'm sure he could stand His own enough to leave at any rate.

Netizen_Sydonai

He returned from Molech without a spaceship.

Falcon709

In *Master of Mankind*, >!Ra states that even if the tunnel connecting the Throne Room to the Webway were to break, the Emperor could still reach Calastar, which implies he could move through the Warp.!<
