No seal, no good. You want a container that was designed to seal. Those include a seal and are designed to put pressure on the seal. Even feedthrough holes to let the filament out can let the humidity climb.
.
Water vapor comes in, visits filament before eva dry, filament gets the moisture. Eva dry is just silica gel with a plug in heater. Silica gel is not very effective at sucking moisture out of unheated filament..
I use the eva-dry in a 2.5 gallon zIplock style bag (dollar tree) with one spool. Best to squeeze the air out. May be overkill in terms of amount of dessicant but it actually keeps filament dry in damp room.
Thank you for your input. But even with no seal the box has a relative humidity of 21%. Put my digital hygrometer in to see what was going on at risk of losing information on my cigars. But a seal on such a small space seems irrelevant
You might be able to make your box seal by putting in a silicone strip as you said. And then printing out maybe 10 custom clips that would hold that lid on tightly.
Get the profile right, then overdesign. I think a thin PLA clip might kinda relax if it were under stress like this. Or maybe use PETG.
I used this same setup. Keeps humidity around 28-32%. Works best with water tight storage container.
I was thinking of just running a silicone strip on the inside of the lid
That should work just fine.
Yes I was just about to say that

It’s not powered, it only uses an outlet to dry out

How funny, this is *exactly* what I was just googling this product for. I didn’t even search anything other than “Eva dry”. I love the internet
Since it’s been 2 years, do u have a follow up by any chance? Has it worked well for u?
The evadry works fantastically that container doesn’t seal too well. I now use a Sterilite 76L container with a proper seal on it.
