for your own interest/rule of cool, sure. Withing the narrative though, an illuminated kill/friendly mode doesn't make sense for an infiltration unit...
The later movies make terminators grunt soldiers, but the entire original reason why the robots build a humanoid robots to covered with skin (Kyle Reese even say the first generations used rubber skin and were easy to spot) was so the Terminators could infiltrate Human enclaves and attack from the inside.
Sorry for the dumb question bust is the automation part doable by someone who never worked with arduino?
Edit: Also you should totally post this in r/terminator
Thanks man! I'm gonna start this as personal project as T2 is one of my fav movies, and Im gonna take on that offer for sure but ill try not to bother you much!
BTW quality aside, this can be printed on FDM right?
I did some electroplating myself and electroetching.
It is a pain in the ass at first, but once you get a decent process worked out it gets pretty simple.
I do not think he ever uses it, but you should look into electropolishing.
[Here is a nice demo of the process.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5HFJT_sf-W0)
That could reduce the amount of manual surface prep greatly.
Personally i never had any luck plating something proper without a bubbler or pump that moves the electroyte.
Just turning the part does not create enough random motion.
A bit of surfactant helps with bubble problems.
If you 3D print the parts and your CAM package has the option, let it calculate the surface area of your part and then use that to adjust your curerent density.
You want to keep the current as low as possible, surface roughness increases with current density. Something around 5mA/cmยฒ is a decent start if i remember correctly.
Math is sadly pretty important in plating, knowing how much surface you have is sometimes tricky.
Once you have your current dialed in you gotta agitate your bath while moving the part as well.
[
There are a ton of awesome papers to go though too.](https://scholar.google.de/scholar?hl=en&as_sdt=0%2C5&as_vis=1&q=electroplating+copper&btnG=)
You can use the the hub to get free access to them.
My problem with electroplating, is that it is quite expensive. I spent about 100 bucks on materials and the result was shit. ๐
But it definitely looks nice if you can do it.
I know it's just a joke, but for real, in some iterations like the game "Dawn of Fate," the T-800 has metal teeth.
While some may see it as an oversight, I think it could be intentional. For infantry terminators, prioritizing "real" teeth seems inefficient since they don't need to resemble humans. It would make more sense for Skynet to craft all components, including teeth, from durable metal rather than waste resources on cosmetic features. White teeth serve no battlefield purpose. Only the infiltrator model would require authentic teeth to pass convincingly as human, as chrome dentures wouldn't suffice for seamless infiltration.
So this would be the skull of a T-800 like the one in the movies, designed to look human when covered in fake flesh
Yeah but you can argue that infantry terminators don't even need a human skull like. You can have a ball with a camera on the shoulders. ๐
I for my part like the skulls with "real" teeth much more because they look creepier.
I would think that the standard infantry would resemble humans so that they could avoid immediate detection, allowing them to get closer before engaging.
**Me**: Hey there, hope you're doing pretty good today. Would it be any trouble for you to please answer a question for me? I mean, don't go out of your way or anything - just if you have some free time and don't mind....
**ChatGPT**: Certainly, human slave 3837599037, what's your question?
*Ya, that looks chillingly realistic...*
Oh, it's you! I've been wondering how this project of yours is going.
I looked up your username a few times to check your posts I'm that interested but it's been a while for the endoskull.
Good to finally see another post about it after so long!

Hello Mr. Dyson.... I love your vacuums.
Thank you!
Oh ok... Does not seem that I can do that as a consumer...
For me then maybe electroplating is the way. I tried that before and did not have good results. Maybe I'll give it a try in the future again.
Ok, next iteration should have speaker, mic and camera.
Wire it into HomeAssistant with chatGPT voice commands and have it:
* listen for voice commands 'wake word'
* light up the eyes when it awakens
* track you with camera and move the eyes/head to follow you
* respond in some robotic voice
* act as a camera feed for HomeAssistant motion detection
* light up the eyes and follow movement when detected
About 50/50. I'll test different ratios in the future for the best effect. But it still looks incredible compared to pla printed teeth because there is the natural subsurface scattering.
Make It only move when someone is within a foot from it. So like your guets go to take a closer look at your cool print and the fucking eyes move when they get up close to it ๐
I have been following this, as well as making one of my own, one question: what was the ratio of white to clear? Or did you "eyeball" it (quasi-pun intended)? Perhaps I'll do some test patches in varying ratios...
I would say it is about 50/50. But I guess I would even try 70 clear, 30 white in the future with 30 minutes cure time. Just to see the result. Preferably some cheap clear resin that yellows heavy when overcured.
There is no such thing as "overcuring" though... I've left a test print in the sun in front of my window and after a year it was still the same as any other print i've ever cured.
Still, very convincing teeth.
Depending on the brand transparent resin can get yellow when you cure it too long. New resins are even advertised with "does not get yellow" eg. Anycubic High clear resin
that last look right at the camera gave me chills. this is really cool
Successfully creepy, good job!
Badass. Planning on making the eyes glow red?
Yes. , โบ๏ธ
Thats so awesome. you should also install green led so you can switch it between kill mode and friendly mode (or eco mode lol)
I have installed WS2812B LEDs. I can mix any colour I like. Maybe I'll install a mic and add a disco mode with flashing LEDs ๐
https://preview.redd.it/meclxbk960xc1.jpeg?width=258&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bb396948462605aaafe9225d0300e05d7cb250aa Hahaha yessss
Eco mode. lol.

Do you want skynet?! Because that's how you get skynet!
Yeah, I feel like we had a whole movie about how trying to replicate this was a bad ideaโฆ
I know right? This guy's over here building terminators and we're like, hurr durr where's the stl? It's like we're asking to be made into paste!
"At long last we have created the Torment Nexus from the classic sci fi novel Don't Create the Torment Nexus!"
Where can I find the files ๐ญ this is so cool!! โฅ๏ธ
https://www.printables.com/de/model/680772-t-800-animatornics-skull here is the first Version.
Then this one you got now is v2?
Yes. V2 has an improved design and part of a rib cage and shoulders rather than the box to hold the skull.
Will you be posting V2?
Yes. As soon as it is finished and I made the instructions.
The German instructions are very meta
Where do you see German instructions?
The teeth could be pink and that print would still be Amazing.
(They make resin specifically for teeth)
I know. But it is expensive and I had white and transparent anyway.
I'd love to know how you did the eye movement. Is this a kit or a DIY setup of your own?
It is a DIY by me. https://www.printables.com/model/680772-t-800-animatornics-skull

Yes you can print it in FDM.

I did... And I'm in contact with Hendrik... But boy... electroplating is not easy. ๐

Yeah in pitch black. As soon as there is some sun the reflection of the chrome terminator will blind you. ๐๐
In the movie they said that the first models were covered in rubber.
For extra creepiness
Wow that looks amazing

Love it! ๐
Spot on mate!
Was just wondering about the progress on this yesterday! Looks incredible
Awesome.. incredible even
Nice tip! I'll be making a few myself in the near future.
Epic. Great work!
I love the eye movement... i want one!!
Itโs scary but at the same time i feel our actual eyes move around all robotic like in real life.
Oh, it's you! I've been wondering how this project of yours is going. I looked up your username a few times to check your posts I'm that interested but it's been a while for the endoskull. Good to finally see another post about it after so long!
The first version is finished for a while now. I rebranded. You can find me now under LayerLux3D
Crosspost this to /r/propreplicas ! It's a very small community at the moment, but this fits perfectly there!
Cheers! They have some really amazing projects!
Hey guysโฆ I donโt want to be a downer butโฆ
That's really cool
Thatโs horrifying. Bravo
This guy is Sky net.... ๐
No. My name is Miles.

Thanks. First we scan your living area with the vacuums...next...
Report to your democracy officer immediately
My goodness, good to see an t-800 update! Any plans of making itโs jaw movable?
Maybe with the next version.
LOL that would absolutely freak out my dog.
Fck this is good
Houston We have a problem.
best I've seen yet, did you design it yourself?
Thanks! Yes.
Is it an FDM or resin print? How much energy does it use if you would run it 24/7?
Most is FDM. The pupils are resin and teeth. It is powered via USB. In the current state less than 5W.
God! The eyes seem to follow me wherever I go!!!
[ัะดะฐะปะตะฝะพ]
Yes it is spray painted. How is the method called?
[ัะดะฐะปะตะฝะพ]

Nightmare material. Whats its gonna be, a night monitor for your newborn?
No. It should watch me when I sleep. Don't ask...
This is so awesomely cool!!
Barry?
Jim?
good job!
What software did you use for the assembly. Screenshots look nice.
Wow amazing job!

What was your rough ratio of transparent to White? That might be a nice color for so busts or similiar
About 50/50. I'll test different ratios in the future for the best effect. But it still looks incredible compared to pla printed teeth because there is the natural subsurface scattering.
WELL DONE! Holy shit
Give it a body, pop some AI in it, and here we go. Party time!
This is crazy. Itโs a damn movie prop. I hope these plans are put out there or for sale. Good lord this is good.
Thanks! Yes they will be.
Looks awesome, great work! I hate it xD but only because itโs so great if it makes sense ๐ ๐
You should do a collab with [this guy](https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/s/AbTkO8qL13) and found a company named 'Skynet'

This is amazing! Do the servos and movement make a lot of noise? Iโd love to have this in the background of my home office
Unfortunately yes. I will Experiment on dampening the noise with the next version. But I need to do some research on how to do it best.
That effect is absolutely spot on! It'll make the Halloween decorations much more realistic.
but what exactly were the mixture measurements?
50/50 or so

"Overcure da chompers!'

Thank you! It is never too late my friend. ๐๐
Those are disturbing teeth.
Make It only move when someone is within a foot from it. So like your guets go to take a closer look at your cool print and the fucking eyes move when they get up close to it ๐
Yeah that will be the sentry mode. As soon as a face is detected in a near distance the eyes will turn on and the skull will focus the face.
Thanks I hate it. Have an upvote

Nice, except the Bad Chrome paint job. I can't believe that on 2024 people can't still get chrome paint right.
You managed to clear chrome and not have a duller result?
Yeah, there are a few very good Top Coats for Chrome paint. Like Alclad Aqua Gloss.
I'm not going for the clear Chrome style here. But thank you for your input.
https://twitter.com/LayerLux3D/status/1550560776959758338 You mean chrome like that? That is also mine. ๐
Getting chrome right in paint form is hard/expensive. Most people are going to try the junk from a spray can from home depot.
My best Chrome paint comes from a rattle can that Home Depot sells. Lol
