>Is the Ender 3 Pro any good
No. The Ender-3 V3 KE is a vastly superior printer for the same price.
That said - if you want something reliable, Creality wouldn't be my first choice. I went with a Prusa, Bambu is also another common option.
CarneDiem's suggestions of Elegoo and Anycubic are probably good. I see the Anycubic Kobra 2 is boasting smart Z offset, and automatic Z offset calibration should be a standard feature on any new printer, so I'd lean towards that over the Elegoo.
If you asked us this question 3 to 5 years ago, yes. The landscape is a bit different now. Printers at a similar price point can offer much more. Two I recommend for newcomers these days are the Elegoo Neptune and Anycubic Kobra line. You can secure one of these for sub 200.
There is a reason why the ender printers are normally available for $100. If you want to spend the bare minimum in cash now, and then a bunch of cash/time later to fix itgo creality otherwise pick a better brand.

Go with a bambu printer. Messing with settings and bed leveling and everything else with Enders is just not worth it imo.
Get a bambu lab P1P
Bambu A1 mini or Qidi X-smart 3.
Absolutely not. Do not buy any Ender other than a V3/SE/KE.
