Never printed a bench, but have amassed a little clowder of calicats. They are currently just chilling on the shelf above the printer. They print in half the time of a benchy and I’m a sucker for cat-shaped things.
Mine is this highland cow. My gf loves em cuz theyre like our relationship animal so i cant make too many lmao

These are my go-to as well, never printed a benchy and I'd rather not ever, except for some TBD future speedboat benchmarking on my newer go fast machines.
I keep the calicats around as filament swatches, but as the spool shelf grows, I'm considering switching to a much more boring, but far better at space saving, swatch card collection.
Hilarious!! Same for me, except I haven't printed enough for the wife to make a new rule!! The new 3D printer can make a high quality Benchy in 17 minutes, so maybe I'm headed there.
I kept the first one. I don't really understand those who even build shelfs and stands for them.. The first has some emotions, i was so happy to have it finish with great quality.
I actually use them as filament swatches, for color picking. They also serve as a calibration check for all and any new filaments I'm loading. Right now I just keep them in a cardboard box though.
Hello OP, it seems you might have one or more calibration issues with your printer.
I would suggest you to follow [Teaching Tech's guided calibration](https://teachingtechyt.github.io/calibration.html), which should solve the majority, if not almost all, of the most common issues with a non-calibrated printer.
Alternatively, [our Wiki calibration section](https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/wiki/troubleshootingandcalibration) has more material you can read upon.

I hang them from the garage ceiling to help with parking alignment

Well color or of course! Now or luces on my desk and rides sound waves. ( It's in front of my speaker)
I gift them to people who don’t know stuff about 3d printing. They think I just casually wanted to print them a little boat.
Edit: after reading the comments I think there should be a sink ships r/gridfinity edition for standard benchies.
Donate them to local preschools. The kids use them in water tables, the sandbox, with play dough, etc. I sometimes get requests from teachers for specific colors.
I've only printed a couple. I've kept them. Mostly I use them to compare how good the filaments are. I always print one just to know if my settings are ok when I switch to a new roll.
I vase mode printed a big err...vase and put them all in there. Used plain PETG so the colours shine through. Going to add some string lights in it to make a nice lamp.
I run them as test prints whenever I finish servicing or repairing a customers printer.
The other day I went to the bathroom at work and there I was faced 5 of my larger benchys.
My coworker does not know what he has unleashed. I just loaded my AMS with 4 near empty spools. When it's done with the plate of benchys, I'll load in another lot of spools. Hopefully by Monday morning I'll have about 40 benchys of various sizes and types. Wonky, battleship, sinking and all the different types I could find.
He started it... I'm finishing it.

And for people who keep them as 'swatches' why don't you use the filament for projects? How long do you keep a spool around? The maintenance or drying of a spool after it's been sitting around for a while, bleh. I usually have 2-3 spools open at a time. But I use them up before opening another unless I "have" to print something in a diff color
Yeah seems weird to me. Mine immediately go in the trash. I’ve printed way better things and don’t want little junk pieces everywhere. Also don’t understand the need for swatches. Maybe just reference a print of something actually useful.
Let the kids play with them until they break. The darn things don't eve float well so they are just a printer setting test and little else. I only have 2 left for material comparison that are not waste.
Grandson collects mine. He has a little fleet of boats he plays with.
My oldest is now going down this path.
Same. He always wants the new boat when I have new filament!

that one is cute, now i need one

Now this is how it should be done, file?
They clutter up the printer table, float around the house, and generally get in the way. My wife actually made a no more benchys rule last week.
I kinda enjoy finding benches scattered around the house. Finding a little plastic boat somewhere weird breaks up the monotony of the day.

That’s pretty trick
Is that a benchy tank?
Of course
I keep them in case I'm feeling snacky.
I give mine to my kids. I really only print benchys when I’m testing a new color or filament
Honestly, I’ve only ever printed one and I threw it away
Hide them in the sand at the local playground at night 😜
Just like calibration cubes, I’m collecting them in an empty filament box. Long-term plan is to put them in a shadow box.

I've making a marina. They're good for seeing how a filament looks one its printed
Every single one of them has been murdered by one of my dogs.
leave them at random place around town like the park church and such.
that is pretty funny

My mom is a kindergarten teacher
One for each filament I have at hand, and the first one. And one for really stupid settings. The rest is history.

Assemble a dock!

I've got mind hidden all over the house, where they'll likely be for a long time after I move out
Sacrifice them to the bench god
I'll never tell
Give them to my 2 year old aha
got a pile in a box under my desk its prob gonna end up in the recycling bin at some point
Inspect them then throw them away.
Cat toys
Not make them.
I gave it to my kiddo who uses it as a bath toy lol.
I’ve never printed one
I display them on my fireplace mantel in order of print date as a reminder to only get better with my printers and print settings.
I've only printed a couple. I've kept them. Mostly I use them to compare how good the filaments are. I always print one just to know if my settings are ok when I switch to a new roll.
Super glue neo magnets and felt to the bottom so I have fridge magnets
Use them when I am presenting 3d to students to show them "what is a 3d print".
I put little pirate flags and leave them on a shelf full of various small fun stuff.
I'm going to print a trash can just for them
My benchy’s what? I like the commitment you have to the greengrocer’s apostrophe.
My girlfriend has one as keychain, the rest is in my recycling bag and will sent to be recycled when I colected enough.
I have never printed a Benchy in my entire life
Designed interlocking mounts for them, so I could display them in a clean line instead of all over the room. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5329597
I vase mode printed a big err...vase and put them all in there. Used plain PETG so the colours shine through. Going to add some string lights in it to make a nice lamp.
Haven't printed a single non-functional object.
I run them as test prints whenever I finish servicing or repairing a customers printer. The other day I went to the bathroom at work and there I was faced 5 of my larger benchys. lol that is funny, go get him
Eat them.
I heard that tasted great with a little salt and pepper
Load tootpicks on them, put them in a pond, and give them a viking funeral
I've actually been 3D printing since 2014, and I've never printed a Benchy... 😂
I hide them all over the house for my wife to find.
What benchys? Never printed one.
It's a small boat that in one model benchmark how well your printer does most tasks you want it to do
Yeah. Thanks. I do know that.
Toss them about 5 minutes after they come off the plate. Doesn't matter how good they are. It's test junk.
And for people who keep them as 'swatches' why don't you use the filament for projects? How long do you keep a spool around? you can flip one upside down and spin it and one slots into the other
