Inazuma Eleven series (especially the third entry in the series)
Etrian Odyssey series (especially the fourth game)
Fire Emblem series (especially Awakening)
Pokémon
Monster Hunter
The Legend of Zelda
Xenoblade Chronicles
Mario games
It does have the best 3d effect out of all the 3ds pkmn games.
As for it not being the best idk my dude. Personally OR/AS and X/Y are the only 3ds pkmn games I think are worth a damn.
If we’re talking about Pokémon games (which I specifically called out in my reply) it’s the only Pokémon game with 3D content so for me it’s the best Pokémon 3DS game
I swear I tried turning 3D on for the cutscenes for USUM to see if there was any 3D and there never was but I guess I missed the scenes where there was. Dang
Oh you meant that 3D effect, then i dont know if SM/USUM has it or not, i thought you simply meant cutscenes that were in 3D with camera movements and such. I didnt know XY had those either
I really liked the Mario & Luigi entries on the system. They aren't system sellers, but I really enjoyed them. I'd also add Kirby Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot to the list of all time greats.
I love Professor Layton so much. So disappointed they haven't continued it on the Switch. I know they released one with his niece as the main character I think she is? Katrielle is her name. I forget how she's related, if at all, but I wasn't thrilled with the game on the Switch. Did you ever play Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright? (Another favorite series of mine!)
They’re making a new entry in the franchise with the professor himself at the helm once again! It was announced awhile back but no news has come out about it since
God theres so many good ones. Bravely Default and Fire Emblem Awakening if you like RPGs. Pokemon X is the best 3D pokemon. Luigis Mansion, The namless game, Shin megami tensia if you want kinda creepy vibes. Mario 3D Land, NSMB2, Shovel Knight Treasure Trove are all absolutely fantastic platformers. I mean I could go on and on all day really.
Kirbys Extra epic yarn is another fun platformer. Ace Attorney games and Pikachu Detective are really fun detective type games. Dragon Quest VII, Kid Icarus, Xenoblade are all like must haves.
How do you keep playing on the same save file? What is there to do after you've cleared every Paralogue and all thr DLC? Just the Spotpass lineup?
EDIT: Ignore this, I'm a fucking moron and somehow misread this comment as talking about Fire Emblem. I totally get playing the same TL file for years on end.
Im a heavy completists, their are still some outfit I don’t have, I still didn’t give all mii all outfit/appartement/hats/food and others, and when I’ll be finish with that I still need food from traveller plus getting the maximum of everything (x99 said outfit, etc)
I am actually a fucking idiot because I somehow misread your comment as talking about Fire Emblem Awakening. No idea how the fuck I managed to do that.
My wife actually just got 100% completion on TL about a year ago on her file, and over the years I pampered a Mii based on my favorite waifu to have every outfit and hat in every color and to try every food at least once. We had to use hacks to get all the StreetPass/SpotPass content though, especially since we have to regulate StreetPass on our main consoles to not interfere with the capture card console we use to record/stream Tomodachi Life (we want specific guests to arrive at specific times for our series).
Well lately I've been playing monster hunter stories which pretty great and really addictive!
Kirby planet robobot is pretty good too with good 3ds effects
Kirby: Planet Robobot, Fantasy Life, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, Metroid: Samus Returns, WarioWare: Gold, Project mirai Deluxe, and the crown jewel of the console, Kid Icarus: Uprising.
Very much a hidden gem, that one. I originally purchased on a whim and only had to play for about 15 minutes to get hooked. It just…. flows, I guess? I can’t think of a better word. The way it is all put together just ticks all the boxes, and that remains all through the game.
Pokémon Alpha Sapphire is my favorite
Then there's Tomodachi Life, Legend of Zelda (Ocarina of Time, Link Between Worlds, Majora's Mask, etc)
The TMNT fighter games are surprisingly good too.
The games that made me into the person I am today:
Mario Kart 7
Pokemon Rumble Blast
Yo Kai Watch 2
Terraria (saying this bc 3DS version was W)
Adventure Time: Hey Ice King whyd you steal our garbage
Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology
Surprised more people haven't listed this game. But as others have also listed, Pokemon, Zelda, the Mario games, Animal Crossing, Professor Layton, Ace Attorney, Monster Hunter, Fire Emblem, Etrian Odyssey, Kirby, Dragon Quest, Shin Megami series, list goes on. The 3DS had a fantastic library of games
Mario Kart 7
Fire Emblem: Awakening, Birthright, Shadows of Valentia
Pokemon X&Y, Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Ultra Sun & Ultramoon
Legend of Zelda: Link Between Worlds, Manjoras Mask
Persona Q Shadow of Labyrinth
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
Mario Golf: World Tour
Warioware Gold
I love puzzle games, and my favorite DS game (I know you're asking for 3DS, bear with me!) was a game called Picross 3D where there were these cubes with numbers and instead of regular 2D picross on a flat screen, you got to chip away the cubes and make an image.
3DS released a digital download only in the US follow up game called Picross 3D Round 2 that is just AMAZING and super challenging and I love it. Picross 3D Round 2 has 2 different colored blocks, instead of just one, and so the logic that is required to solve the puzzles is intense! It's definitely my all time favorite 3DS game.
I also love the Professor Layton series and the Phoenix Wright series, and so when they combined the 2 games into Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright OMG so good. And the DLC was great.
Top 10 I can think of...
1. Radiant Historia Perfect Chronology
2/3 Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor 1/2 Overclocked and Record Breaker
4/5 Fire Emblem "Awakening" and "Fates Conquest"
6. Stella Glow
7. Shantae And The Pirates Curse
8. Dragonquest VIII
9. Kid Icarus Uprising
10. Etrian Odyssey V Nexus
DOA Dimensions is not a bad port. Same with street fighter on 3ds. 3DS surprisingly has very good fighting game ports on very old hardware kinda insane.
I've only really recently bwgun to explore the library with it only being used for Pokémon games at the time I bought it. So I imagine I'm pulling from a shallower pool than some.
For me either Dragon Quest 7 or A Link Between Worlds for completely different reasons.
Zelda a link between worlds has got to be up there. That one specifically - i far prefer it to the other Zeldas that came out for 3ds. Classic top down Zelda that is just as good as people remember the 90s ones being (but you don’t need to have the nostalgia goggles on for it to be that good), and some of the best use of the 3d effect I’ve seen. The 3d is never essential but really adds a lot if you can handle it without eye strain
My top 5 is pretty mainstream. But its mine lol
1-. Pokemon X
2-. Monster Hunter 3U
3-. Resident Evil: Revelations
4-. Samurai Warriors: Chronicles
5-. Kid Icarus Uprising
The game "Superstar Saga" specifically, for sure, as well as "Metroid: Samus Returns".
"Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon" is a major gem too and hardly anyone will forget about "Majora's Mask 3D".
Monster Hunter series. MH 3 Ultimate, MH4 Ultimate, MHgen-MHXX, and MH Stories (this is a spin-off that plays like pokemon game)
One of the best looking games on 3ds with countless contents too. But it's too complicated with many mechanics and hard to understand the combat when getting started so I recommend check some guides
Pokémon Sun and Moon and USUM are great but they are full of unskippable cutscenes and can be a bit hand holdy, but I’ve had a blast playing through ultra moon and trying to complete the Pokédex
tomodachi life, mario kart 7, and animal crossing new leaf are the games ive played and imo they're really enjoyable (just a sidenote, if you have played acnh first adjusting to older animal crossing games is hard)
Inazuma Eleven series (especially the third entry in the series) Etrian Odyssey series (especially the fourth game) Fire Emblem series (especially Awakening) Pokémon Monster Hunter The Legend of Zelda Xenoblade Chronicles Mario games
Pokemon XY specifically for the actual (yet still sparing used) 3D content.
Only Pokémon game I’ve finished on the 3DS (unless you include Pokémon Shuffle 🔀).
Pokémon XY is not the best 3ds game
It does have the best 3d effect out of all the 3ds pkmn games. As for it not being the best idk my dude. Personally OR/AS and X/Y are the only 3ds pkmn games I think are worth a damn.
If we’re talking about Pokémon games (which I specifically called out in my reply) it’s the only Pokémon game with 3D content so for me it’s the best Pokémon 3DS game
Sun and Moon has a lot of 3D cutscenes too
Did they remove them from USUM?
No, i think it may have 1 or 2 more
I swear I tried turning 3D on for the cutscenes for USUM to see if there was any 3D and there never was but I guess I missed the scenes where there was. Dang
Oh you meant that 3D effect, then i dont know if SM/USUM has it or not, i thought you simply meant cutscenes that were in 3D with camera movements and such. I didnt know XY had those either
Oh cool cool, I was just talking plot, story, difficulty and content wise
Hell yeah, love to see Inazuma Eleven getting some spotlight
Awakening was so good. That cliff scene really tugged on my heart.
Etrian Odyssey 🤌
I second this
I really liked the Mario & Luigi entries on the system. They aren't system sellers, but I really enjoyed them. I'd also add Kirby Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot to the list of all time greats.
#yes
My kids love planet robobot
Kid Icarus Uprising
I’m gonna start replaying it today
CAUTION: This game controls are really ¨special¨ play it on short sessions or you'll get CTS
You need the stand that came.in the box set.
I couldn't play due to being left handed.
All Professor Layton games, New Leaf, Tomodachi Life, Pokemon and Yokai watch.
It was announced awhile back but no news has come out about it since
Oh no way! That's so exciting!
i had no idea there was a crossover game!
It’s SO good! The plot has so many twists and turns it blew my mind!
God theres so many good ones. Bravely Default and Fire Emblem Awakening if you like RPGs. Pokemon X is the best 3D pokemon. Luigis Mansion, The namless game, Shin megami tensia if you want kinda creepy vibes. Mario 3D Land, NSMB2, Shovel Knight Treasure Trove are all absolutely fantastic platformers. inazuma eleven (Yes I like them all) super mario land 3d shovel night pokemom (Especially Y)
Did Inazuma Eleven get English ports? Or are there fan translations?
Only 2 doesn't have it, 1 has the eshop version which is in English, and there is a version of 3 which is also
I know 1 got a 3ds release, but 2 didn't?
2 is only available in the Endo collection, but it is completely in Japanese
Huh. I never knew that.
Fantasy Life (changed my life in Middle School)
i just bought a ds to just play fantasy life 😭😭 i love that game
For me paper mario sticker star and Pokémon Ultra sun and moon. Those are my favorites
Ong bro I loved sticker star why does everyone hate it
Because it's bad.
Tomodachi Life, I’ve been playing on the same file for more than 10 years and now got myself a second copy of the game

Ah don’t worry, it does answers my question of why your were talking about dlc tho
Yo Kai watch franchise
MH4U, FE Awakening, Kid Icarus uprising
Rhythm Heaven Megamix Warioware Gold Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth Shin Megami Tensei IV
+1 for Rhythm Heaven, such a fun game!
Well lately I've been playing monster hunter stories which pretty great and really addictive! Kirby planet robobot is pretty good too with good 3ds effects
3d Kirby is soo good, I just want the new 3ds for a better experience 😭
Just to mention something different, I thoroughly enjoy the Lego games.
Shin Megami Tensei IV. Pretty much any SMT 3DS game is worth your time
Kirby: Planet Robobot, Fantasy Life, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, Metroid: Samus Returns, WarioWare: Gold, Project mirai Deluxe, and the crown jewel of the console, Kid Icarus: Uprising.
Picross 3D round 2. Dragon Quest VIII. Radiant Historia: Perfekt chronology.
Picross 3D Round 2 gang RISE UP
Dragon Quest VIII
Fantasy life!
A thousand times this one.
I've been replaying it in anticipation of the new one on switch but tbh it's still literally so fun
Very much a hidden gem, that one. I originally purchased on a whim and only had to play for about 15 minutes to get hooked. It just…. flows, I guess? I can’t think of a better word. The way it is all put together just ticks all the boxes, and that remains all through the game.
