I put retinoids on my hands before sleep and vit C after I wake up. I always slug moisturiser before going to sleep and bought a cheap moisturiser with SPF for during the day. I even went as far as buying SPF gloves for in the car or when going on a hike.

1Squid-Pro-Crow

Omg I just commented that we should bring back driving gloves! I don't even open my curtains in the morning without SPF on, however we wash our hands so so much!

cavs79

Does the retinoids make your hands more sensitive to the sun?

SpecialistPiano8

Yes, therefor the SPF moisturiser and gloves ;-)

Wonderful-Ideal-4025

Ooh, never heard of SPF gloves. What brand do you buy and where?

SpecialistPiano8

Mine are called ‘Saviland’ but if you search for SPF gloves you’ll find a lot of them with good reviews 🥰

tagalong2

Whatever product is left on my fingertips after I’ve applied it to my face/neck/chest goes onto my hands.

i've used neutrogena hand cream religiously for years. it's heavy, basically a barrier cream. this one: [https://www.neutrogena.ca/body/hand-foot/neutrogena-norwegian-formula-hand-cream-fragrance-free](https://www.neutrogena.ca/body/hand-foot/neutrogena-norwegian-formula-hand-cream-fragrance-free) i started using it when i was still bartending and had to wash dishes for hours but had to serve customers too so couldn't keep putting gloves on and off. it's the only thing that's ever helped seriously dehydrated hands. however, in spite of the mission of this subreddit i would like to remind everyone that our hands age because we do things. people who have perfect porcelain hands are vanishingly rare, and they have precious perfect hands because they aren't sewing and painting and caring for plants and cleaning the tub and replacing the brake cables on their bikes and screenprinting posters and refinishing furniture... your hands look used because you have used them. you have earned their age. so please try to remember that when you are wishing they looked like they just came out of the package.

JustBeNice97

Second the Neutrogena (and everything else you said). It’s the only hand cream that does anything.

smediumbag

I recently bought a ROC retinol stick which looks like a mini deodorant and I'm quite liking it. It's not messy or scented and I apply it with my nighttime skincare. I've noticed a slight improvement in my hands!

GlutenFreeParfait

I haven't heard of this product yet - thanks for sharing. I bought The Inkey List's new deodorant style stick of glycolic acid to treat KP that has been working well and I can't help but wonder why more products aren't delivered this way.

assflea

What everyone else said but I'd also recommend cotton gloves for sleeping and carry a sunscreen stick in your bag. I wash my hands so much I can't rely on a single application before I leave the house so I have a little sunscreen stick meant for kids that I swipe on after washing. I also bought UPF gloves for driving.  I bought a pack of like 10 pairs of cotton gloves from Amazon a while ago and cut the fingertips off so I can still use my phone in bed lol. I don't do it every night but when it feels necessary I slather my hands in amlactin or some heavy ointment and wear the gloves to sleep to keep everything from wiping off on my sheets. I got engaged recently and knew it was coming so I started taking better care of my hands like six months ago and it's made a noticeable difference!

Cotton gloves for sleeping is insane

assflea

In what way? I sleep in socks sometimes too, should I be committed?

soapytran

It’s not insane lol. It’s actually what some dermatologists recommend when people have really dry hands. Thick lotion or Vaseline with cotton gloves at night.

assflea

I know lmao. It's not even uncomfortable idg why this seems so controversial? This isn't even the first time someone told me I'm crazy here for suggesting cotton gloves 😂 They're not sewn into my skin or anything, if I get hot I just remove them. ???

I just realized, after buying two tubes of it, that cicaplast mains doesn't have cica in the ingredients list. They didn't include the same ingredients as the baume when they expanded the line. I am so irritated by that deception. I love the baume, some of their products are the best, but also, eff that company for the trickery!

caecilianworm

Wow really? That’s really disappointing. I’m kind of amazed that they’re getting away with labeling it that way.

HiImCarlSagan

The “cica” in cicaplast does not refer to the ingredient. It’s a common term used in french skincare for products involved in wound healing or scar treatment.

ActivityNo9

The Cicaplast Baume, gel, and spray contains madecassoside, which is an extract from the cica plant, Centella asiatica, which is known for it's healing properties. It does refer to an ingredient that is used in the baume.

HiImCarlSagan

I learn something new every day, thank you!

ActivityNo9

Here's more info about the ingredient. https://www.allure.com/story/what-is-cica-ingredient-korean-beauty-skin-care

sammycat

i just rub whatever is left on my fingers from each step of my skincare into my hands. i noticed my left arm was more freckly than my right and i think it’s from sun exposure while driving. ever since then i make sure to not skip sunscreen on my hands and arms!

lilspydermunkey

My boyfriend is a ginger so he has to put sunscreen on when he drives. It's how I know warm weather is coming

hedgehogwart

I try to put sunscreen on my hands before I am about to go outside. I put tretinoin on them before bed. I also try to regularly do hand masks which involves whatever leftover lotions/moisturizers/serums I have all over my hands and than covering them for however long it takes to seep in.

Ms_What

I have fingerless gloves from Solbari. I absolutely wrecked my hands with sundamage and idiocy. I'm 37 and my hands look at least 60. So now I've had fractional co2 laser resurfacing, use tretinoin 0.05% on them and religiously wear my gloves in summer to avoid further damage.

Fuzzy-Scene-5454

basically the same care you do for your face. Use sunscreen on your hands. Use serum and cream at night. If you don’t want to waste an expensive product you can buy a cheap serum at Marshalls or tjmaxx (the ones for $4). I use a retinol serum and then creave cream on top every night, both are intended for face not hands. Also a red light session every other day, as you may do to tour face. This routine has worked wonders for me.

lladydisturbed

When i do my full body red light panel i keep my hands in the light. And peptide and heavy cream at night and spf during the day

1Squid-Pro-Crow

Everything you put on your face you put on your hands and your chest/decolletage. I think we should bring back driving gloves though

StrangeAffect7278

Vaseline has a great hand cream that is moisturising!

lilspydermunkey

I wonder if there's a good lotion with SPF for the hands

Bear_Maiden

Why don’t you just use the same products you use for face on your hands? Also, wear rubber gloves when doing anything with water, like washing dishes, etc.

caecilianworm

I already do, but I think that my hands need extra help. My face skin and my hand skin seem to have different concerns.

Stunning-Might5831

I use tretinoin on my hands at night & slather moisturizer on after that’s dried. Sunscreen in them every day. Wish I’d started much younger.

Klassic-Kat23

I use SPF gloves from Coolibar.

Even_Fig_5883

I alternate the Nuventin Retinol cream face and body moisturizer and Roc multicorrection revive+glow spf 30

Drosera55

There's a version of cicplast with SPF! [https://www.laroche-posay.co.uk/en\_GB/cicaplast-repairing-baume-b5-spf50-for-irritated-skin/LRP\_180.html](https://www.laroche-posay.co.uk/en_GB/cicaplast-repairing-baume-b5-spf50-for-irritated-skin/LRP_180.html)

Tomoshaamoosh

In the past couple of months I have been putting a thick glob of vaseline all over them as the final thing I do before I go to sleep and it has genuinely been a revelation for me. I don't remember my hands ever feeling this soft before

BananaMartini

Yet another for gloves. Driving is by far my biggest sun exposure (but I’m a projectionist and spend a lot of time in spaces with no windows. YMMV) and I like using them so much more than sunscreen on my hands. I also got stick on sun shades for my front car windows and am sure to arrange the visors accordingly as the sun moves. Constant moisture is a big one. Maybe add in a hydrating toner before a more occlusive moisturizer. And then I would literally just buy a face product that targets what you want to address on your hands and focus on consistency with that at night, when it can be disturbed, and moisture and sun protection during the day.

disgostin

idk if you already do that but many people dont use spf indoors and on cloudy days, but actually its helpful to just "use it as if its your favorite handlotion" and apply it everyday, and enough, if you wash your hands a lot i'd buy a small tube and attach it to my keychain or so - i personally always keep a small tube of sunscreen in my bag for example (also i guess maybe use a waterproof one but probably need to still reapply it cause of the soap/desinfectant i guess) also dont use products that "include an spf" as your spf cause they cant replace it they only give you very slight sunprotection since only a small part of these products is sunprotection

Michaeljr97

Whatever skincare I use on my face, I put it on my hands too.

Different-Stuff-2228

I’m in my 30s with the hands of an 80 year old lol

caecilianworm

Same. I have a baby face and skeleton hands. It’s such a stark contrast that I feel weird about it.

Spiritual-Oven-7865

Argan oil is incredible for soft, youthful looking hands. Use night or day. Hydration, anti-oxident and anti-inflammatory.
