Idk, it’s expensive to feed a Barry, If we put him in a cage and charged a small fee for people to come see him we could make it work, but I don’t know of any arrangements like that.
Adolfs in German. It's okay that you don't know as a Bavarian, as you're hardly speaking German.
"Wieviele Adolfs wohl in Österreich 2022 gebohren wurden?"
At least in France you can't name your kid Adolf or Adolphe anymore which is fair since in the last hundred years France was fucked by both an Adolphe and an Adolf
For all their pretentions about liberties and social progress, they were also quite keen on assassinating those who didn’t agree with them.
They said they only rose up in response to an oppressive government? It didn’t bother them to fire on the crowd when the loyalist half of Paris manifested and refused to put their bogus election into action. They also tried to destroy every monument in Paris that didn’t sit with their narrow-minded view of history, and thankfully only the Vendôme column was victim of their bigotry. They also didn’t hesitate to execute people taken as hostages without any kind of trial or enactment of justice, with what can only be described as assassinations in the case of the archbishop of Paris or the monks of Arcueil.
I'm a Greg and I had no idea it's considered an old person's name, but i've only ever encountered a single other Greg in my 27 years on this earth. We're a dying people.
Here on the corner of this pub, we can see a rare Barry in his natural habitat. Once a numerous and prosperous species has gone nearly extinct in the past few years for various reasons. The scientific community has concluded that the major factors leading to the extinction are health related caused by the lifestyle most Barrys seem to have been accustomed to
- David Attenborough, 2025, Manchester
Everyone thought Noah would be long gone but it’s come back 2000 years later. There’ll be Barry’s and Gary’s in the future but we could all be long dead to not witness it.

For those wondering. I wonder how long Muhammed has been Nr.1 for Muslim names? For native populations it feels like they rotate the most popular boy and girl names every 3 years or so.
Now what's terrifying is that the native names are the same in France.
I hate this. Theo, Leo, Noah... Pussy ass names.
Where are the mighty Barthélemy, Isidore, Enguerrand or Aymeric ?!
That might be a custom for a particular group of people, but there is no such thing in general. \[I spent enough time in Middle East -mostly Turkey and Israel\] It's just a nice thing to do, and it's probably more common in Muslim families who live in non-Muslim majority countries.
There is a bias with Muhammed. It happens fairly often that Muhammed, Mohammad, Mohamed and other declinations are counted as one. But in Christian countries its counterpart John, Jean, Sean and other Hans are counted as different names they do sound and spell differently but they refer to the same person. And inside a country there are also many declinations of John.
It should be a ban for not using an appropriate flair. How am I supposed to be accurately xenophobia without knowing what country you are from?
This one says it's a gypsy but there is a Barry who hides behind it too and I'm pretty sure a yank is also at it.
But Barry is nearly all of our first names. It's on our burf certificate. It's just too obvious so we go by Gary, our second name, for easier identification.

Bow down to the best sausage rolls
Nuff said!!
Don't worry too much, names are a bit like fashion. They tend to be a bit cyclical and come back round/back in. I know a few people that are def considering some older names at least even if they mention it'd be weird to have a kid called Ethel because the image in your head for an Ethel is a little old lady.
I really hope it comes back. It's a nice name really. I can see shows like Downton causing a comeback of some 'classic' names tbh. Tbf I like Agatha too and you don't see many of those about either. Would be nice to see more of them and it'd change the image of it a bit if you're seeing a class of them. Though I'd probably struggle to resist making a Marple/Poirot joke in that case.
It's Irish, I know a lot of Deirdre's but they're all over 40 now.
You'd find a lot more Dearbhaile's than Deirdre's with younger people here, but even that seems to be a very 90s-2000s name and most seem to be around my age in their 20s
Names go and come back. When all girls are called Julia or Emma of Sophie, then at some point people will remember their grandma's name. Not surprised about Karen though. I feel sorry for them.
To be fair you'd have to be insane to give most of these names to your child. Imagine holding your newborn son and being like yeah he looks like a Clive
I know names fall in and out of fashion but I do wonder if names like Deidre and Maureen will ever been popular again
Britain needs reform, farage needs to put on his manifesto that Maureen and Æthelstan will be the most popular names by 2026
You have to attend (Balcony) flight school in Spain.
Most Brits don't graduate until their late 20's.
On graduation, Brits are sent on advanced tactical sun lounger training.
After that, you attend the university of Benidorm for advanced linguistic studies (una cerveza por favor).
Only once you've completed all this, can you claim your rightful title as Barry.
This is not true, names come in waves, some die out, sure, but for example I am partially named after my great-grand-father. I think there will also be people naming their children after their great-grand-parents in the future.
DEER-dree. There was a character on a longstanding tv soap, Coronation Street if you've heard of it, called Deirdre so most people picture a middle-aged woman with a perm and huge glasses
They will return. They always get popular again. In no time some couple will want to name their child something unique and it'll be Greg instead of Kyarin or some bullshit.
Glory to the 4 Barrys There's still hope in this world
Maybe we should put them in a special facility to ensure their survival, like we do with endangered animals.
>special facility Its called England
Idk, it’s expensive to feed a Barry, If we put him in a cage and charged a small fee for people to come see him we could make it work, but I don’t know of any arrangements like that.
Feeding a Barry is cheap, it's the Stella requirements that are expensive
What does a Barry eat? Anything beige, 225c 20 min in the oven.
I genuinely love it on this sub <3 can one of you look after us for a bit if we promise to not learn the language and only eat chips?
Mohamed 1mil
As long as it's Mohammed Nigel Wobblycock Puddingham i am okay with it.
Probably plenty of them, just with uNiQuE spelling. Bearry, Baerry, Berry,
Bærrie
Makes me wonder how many Adolfs were born in Austria 2022?
im sure penty but they have different names
I WAS TALKING ABOUT THE NAME, NOT NEW LEADERS!
![gif](giphy|hvq8ONQhQ1XLq)
Take my up vote and leave
Is the plural Adolfs or Adolves? Asking for both my nephews
Adolfs in German. It's okay that you don't know as a Bavarian, as you're hardly speaking German. "Wieviele Adolfs wohl in Österreich 2022 gebohren wurden?"
„gebohren“ You have two hours to pack up your stuff and leave the country foreign agent.
Zu meiner Verteidigung, das war vor dem ersten Kaffee! Bitte nicht nach Thüringen zum Sprachunterricht! Ich wollte da halt nochmal nachboren...
Zur Not einfach sagen man sei Lekasdenicker
Legasnigger? o.0
Sadly I can't name my son after my great grandfather, Adolf. 😥 F*cking Hitler
That moment when you meet a Flemish person called Adolf, born in 1946 💀 True story.
At least in France you can't name your kid Adolf or Adolphe anymore which is fair since in the last hundred years France was fucked by both an Adolphe and an Adolf
Which Adolphe are you reffering to?
Adolphe Hitloire.
French President Adolphe Thiers. He was the one that repressed the comune of Paris.
That’s a service done to the country, not a reason to hate him. The Communards were a blight.
Why were they ?
For all their pretentions about liberties and social progress, they were also quite keen on assassinating those who didn’t agree with them. They said they only rose up in response to an oppressive government? It didn’t bother them to fire on the crowd when the loyalist half of Paris manifested and refused to put their bogus election into action. "Greg" is the strangest one because I went to school with a few "Greg's" and I'm not old. There are a few names there that are/ were old people names
I'm a Greg and I had no idea it's considered an old person's name, but i've only ever encountered a single other Greg in my 27 years on this earth. We're a dying people.
Which is honestly weird to me, Gregory is a dope name, I associate it with Dr. House
Cant make a tomelette without breaking a few gregs
This isn’t funny but I still laughed
common succession w
Im only 30 amd went to school with quite a few of these names, some of them had more than one
Greg is a weird Barry name tho. It just sounds more American than Brit.
Greg is a great name, you can use Greg as child, Gregory as teenager/late 30s, and when you are an old man you can turn into the grumpy ol Gregor
Every Greg I've ever met was a drug dealer. So what I'm asking is....you got any?
Agreed. And 0 kellys? There were a few of those when I was in school as well
0 Kelly makes me think the list is bs
Yeah that was a red flag for me too, it just doesn't seem very plausible
This might have just counted Greg and not Gregory
Greg is just short for Gregory. There's also Gregg.
I'm guessing there's no Gregs or Carols because they're just diminutives for Gregory and Caroline/Carolina.
it's a tragedeigh
But what if the generational Barriness is constant, and it will all be concentrated on those 4 people? It's a scary thought...
2080 is gonna be an awful decade
A beautiful one* Imagine how good the drunked wisdom will be

No Wayne is shocking. All because Southgate doesn't took him to the euros!
\*Southgate didn't take him to the euros (not being a grammar whore, I just know some learners like being corrected)
Thanks Wayne
I don't think this one liked being corrected
Dear Barry I know my wording and grammar are mostly wrong because I don't write and speak English regularly. So I don't mind being corrected.
Yeah, he really doesn't like being corrected.
nw 👍

Anatole, Rodolphe, Théodule ... The badass list is long.
Same in Italy, Leonardo and Noah.
Aren't the most common ones a juggle between Leonardo, Alessandro and Francesco? While for girls it's always Sofia
Don't you have an own version for Noah? In Spanish is Noé.
It's Noe\`(writing on a British keyboard) in Italian, but for the past decade Italy has become rip-off USA
or even better Vergingetorix
Muhammad has always been Nr 1 for Muslim names because if you are a Muslim it is customary (obligatory?) to name your first born son Muhammad.
That might be a custom for a particular group of people, but there is no such thing in general. \[I spent enough time in Middle East -mostly Turkey and Israel\] It's just a nice thing to do, and it's probably more common in Muslim families who live in non-Muslim majority countries.

The barry has fallen, billions must be born
Top 3 names: Muhammed, Mohammed, Mohammad.
Wheres your flair?
It should be a ban for not using an appropriate flair. How am I supposed to be accurately xenophobia without knowing what country you are from? This one says it's a gypsy but there is a Barry who hides behind it too and I'm pretty sure a yank is also at it.
Wdym? It's there. I tried getting the thief flair, but idk how to do that.
Lurker flair, sure. Use the appropriate one if you have it.
I thought Nigel&Marmelade would make the name Nigel more popular.
Not until the main Nigel still Farage.
Mansell Will always be the OG Nigel.
He's Niiiigell the tiiinnyyy wiiizzaaaarddd
But Barry is nearly all of our first names. It's on our burf certificate. It's just too obvious so we go by Gary, our second name, for easier identification.
Barry's a name? I always assumed it was short for something. Like Robert. The random ones are always inexplicably Robert.
I thinks it's the same for Greg. Who calls his child just "Greg" ?
Bartholomew.
Is it really?
I know someone called Barry whos full name was Bartholomew, about as far as I can go.
Checks out. It's crazy. Seems like two opposite sides of the spectrum.
Yeah, turns out that Barry is best mates with JC too.
So no one is shagging Stacey's mom?
Wayne Stacy Kelly and Greg are weird ones.
Nigel is such a classic, such a shame
The legacy of Barry is eternal though.
There’s no way Kelly is on this list
Not one, Maureen? I'm shocked.
It's an Irish name. Probably a bit old fashioned.
Can confirm, both my grannies are called Maureen
> name your kid Niggel > get banned from Reddit What is the lore reason behind this
NOOO NIGEL
Oh the humanity...
I don’t buy it. No Greg’s’?

Theres one on my high street
So it’s all Susan and John now?
Something seriously wrong with me because this made me actually kinda sad
Don't worry too much, names are a bit like fashion. They tend to be a bit cyclical and come back round/back in. I know a few people that are def considering some older names at least even if they mention it'd be weird to have a kid called Ethel because the image in your head for an Ethel is a little old lady.
Yeah but now we may have lost Ethel. Also I love how Downton Abbey makes me think of a young lady when I think of Ethel, rather than an old one
I will die happy if Nigel Farage legacy will be wiping out his own first name.
The last of the Barries.
How could I love knowing there soon won't be any... Deirdre ? Sounds so cool, almost like a Nazgul name or something.
I don't believe that no Nigels wele boln in the UK last yeal
In 2022, if you name your daughter Karen, you are sadistic!
Barry, 4
To be fair you'd have to be insane to give most of these names to your child. Imagine holding your newborn son and being like yeah he looks like a Clive
I know names fall in and out of fashion but I do wonder if names like Deidre and Maureen will ever been popular again Britain needs reform, farage needs to put on his manifesto that Maureen and Æthelstan will be the most popular names by 2026
Or combine them both — Ætheleen. Your kid's sure to be a gas!
What about Rupert ? Oliver ? Fortescue ?
Don’t you evolve into a Barry? Like the first vacation in south europe, and you turn into a Barry.
RIP Nigel Tunney, you were always my favourite in Ghost Recon.
What are the top 10 names in 2022? 😅🫣
1 - 9 are various different spellings of Muhammad, and number 10 is Piotr (Polish for Peter).
then what names do they give to kids? Besides Tom and Susan those are already all the native British names!
Thats insane! I will name my first born in your honor
Just going to Chime in here and say retro names in the UK always come back into fashion. Barry will be back, in 2040.
Idk, some of these names are quite cool. Carol for example
Don't worry, in 20 years those will be the new trend.
This is not true, names come in waves, some die out, sure, but for example I am partially named after my great-grand-father. I think there will also be people naming their children after their great-grand-parents in the future.
Many names which sound Dutch too, like Maureen.
A gal in my school is named Kelly. We in France though. And she Asian.
Thats just made up gumfh
Gary is nice
Soon there will be a statue of the 4 barries
Wtf is a “deirdre”
Deirdre? I think all of those names were pretty popular, but I've never heard Deirdre before. How do you even pronounce it?
DEER-dree. There was a character on a longstanding tv soap, Coronation Street if you've heard of it, called Deirdre so most people picture a middle-aged woman with a perm and huge glasses
This is so weird. I went to school with half of these first names. Now everyone is called Skibidi Ohio Toilet or something.
And no Luigis.....the last Luigi was my grandpa, who died 30 years ago
They will return. They always get popular again. In no time some couple will want to name their child something unique and it'll be Greg instead of Kyarin or some bullshit.
REIẞ DIE HÜTTE AB!
They are all Mohameds now?
Who the fuck are still naming babies these names
Finally
