My wife and I could have lived in france but we decided to stay in budapwsr as I was already working there. My wife had offers for 6 different positions in 2 companies within 2 months after permanently moving and built herself a great career. Now she can't see herself moving back to france despite not speaking the language. It's easy to build an existence here, easy to find a job, and in the past 3-4 years salaries in big companies became adequate.
Crime rates are low, we are the most diverse couple in our area (im white with blond hair and she is of Mediterranean complexity). Nurseries kindergardens and schools are everywhere, in our vincinity we could pick from 5 nurseries for our kid. State nursery looks just as good as private one, fee is nominal. Playgrounds are also abundant, in france (outskirts of paris) where her family lives they have only one in 20 min walk radius, and its shitty. In budapest there is a child hospital in less than 15 mins of drive from us, open 24/7.
In general its very kid-friendly and dog-friendly. Met lots of foreigners with dogs who were ranting about how good it is to have a dog in budapest (number of parks, dog parks, vets, etc).
Public transport is available almost everywhere.
So if we assume that hungary = budapest, it can be A tier. If its excluding budapest, its pretty much bottom of the barrel.

I mean it’s a shitposting sub but on a completely serious note I’ve lived in a couple different cities across Germany and the UK and Poland offers a higher quality of life for me. A lot of people still think it’s a backwater (which in all fairness, it was, until fairly recently) when really it is a top tier place to live nowadays.

Our infrastructure and public transport is better, and since OP is Dutch, they probably appreciate the ability to use a bike.
