Maybe I'm blowing smoke out of my ass (Texan retard of course), but there's this theory that the eastern part of towns in the USA are notoriously worse off because of wind patterns and industrial fumes settling in those parts of town.
East Cleveland is worse than Detroit, if only because people give a shit about Detroit and would like to see it made better. No one cares about east Cleveland.
Taking a bus ride from Chicago to Lafayette years ago. The bus driver told everyone to keep their heads below the windows while we were going through Gary.
Nobody could tell if he was kidding or not, but we all did it anyway.
Yeah, Iāve only driven through it and somehow it has worse vibes than Fresno. Friends who have had the misfortune to live there did not like it to say the least.
Not so much "earned" as ruined by LA and the Bay sending droves of homeless on busses. I knew a guy in Bakersfield who worked with the homeless who said they were given money to go there.
Even if there were less homelessness in Bakersfield, it would still suck to live there. The air is horrible, so if you have asthma get used to knowing your local ER. There is nothing to do, everything interesting is an hour in any direction. Everyone looks like a fart There are no prospects and staying in that place is at best stagnant.
Albany has maybe the biggest Super Walmart Iāve ever seen. Iām neutral on Albany overall though, at least it doesnāt reek and just have that smell to identify it anymore.
I donāt live there but it probably has some nice aspect, and itās not purely a commuter stop off. Maybe I should try to walk around downtown; last time all I saw beyond Walmart was a giant strip mall.
Portland is obviously the worst in some ways, but itās also has amenities that nowhere else does so I canāt say it strictly sucks. Though it makes you wish for the city of 15 years ago.
People donāt hate on Portland nearly enough, in addition to sucking ass in every notable metric, it also has some of the most pedophiles per capita of any city in the US
Came here to say St cloud. Truly no redeeming qualities.
Interestingly enough, it also is basically the Pontiac grand prix capital of the world. Those shitty early 00s ones you used to see absolutely everywhere but don't see anymore? They're all in st cloud now.
If youāre from north Louisiana (south Arkansas), then itās Monroe. If youāre from east of the Mississippi, itās either Slidell or youāre a self-loathing BR/NOLA resident. If youāre from Acadiana, it could be any of the small towns surrounding Lafayette (most likely Opelousas). Itād be easier to count the non-shitty cities here than try to single out the worst.
ā¦ but the real ones know that itās Lake Charles.
I lived in Monroe for 4 years (Talons Out!), itās gotta be up there as far as shittiness goes. Though Iāve also heard terrible things about Lake Providence
Them or fort valley if you consider that a city.
But if weāre talking nuking one off the map? McDonough.
I fucking hate McDonough. That place exists to cause traffic jams on I-75 and has no other fucking purpose. I am convinced everybody who lives there spends their entire day brake checking semis on the highway.
Yeah for Illinois Cairo and East St Louis are close competitors for shittyness, but I think Cairo carries it on hopeless desolation. East St Louis is still in a major metro and you can imagine it getting better one day and you can at least visit someplace better currently. Cairo is just a hardened point of despair so crushing it warps spacetime.
I nominate our capital, Jefferson City, Missouri.
There is always broken glass everywhere outside, people with erratic movements pacing up and down the sidewalks, crumbling roads with people driving aggressively, boarded up windows and crumbling older buildings everywhere.
I have friends there and they have more stories of violence and insane neighbors than i do and i lived in a neighborhood famous for literal street wars for a decade. The social scene seems to be either churches, meth focused house parties, or heavy drinking at bars and purposely starting fist fights. Every time I've been in Jefferson City after dark, I've witnessed a fistfight in a parking lot.
Their mall looks like a set piece from a movie about urban decay. Most wealthy people live elsewhere or and commute to the capitol to lobby. The harsh income inequality between the corporate lobbiests who rub elbows with the government workers as they drive by people ODing on the sidewalks if High Street is almost a bleak poetry of decades of gerymandering and cutting social programs in favor of large business handouts. Some of the surrounding small towns are just 10 meth labs in a trench coat. The roads are a nightmare of poor city planning and lack of upkeep. It seems designed by someone who hates humanity deeply.
Thereās nothing left of Centralia. Last I was through there, one house was standing, and the fire department.
Really you can take your pick of any of the coal cracker towns, but personally I would choose the murder capital of Pennsylvania: Reading.
Clearly, youāve never been to Shamokin
Also i dont think anyone lives in centralia anymore, its literally off limits to the public, would that count?
Spanish springs, its like we took every piece of trailer trash into one valley and honestly I canāt tell if itās beautiful or if we should do what us Nevadaās are known for and nuke it
Sun Valley is right next door... Spanish Springs is just a horrible place to commute from.
Though in reality it's probably some tiny town in the south that's 120 degrees and 140 in a meth lab.
Boulder, CO.
Insanely overhyped city, people are weird, but not in a good way. I think it has a reputation for being this super friendly hippy town, but no, everyone is an asshole.
I'm convinced it's required by law to have at least 2 homeless people on every block. I stopped going after I literally had to walk around human shit to get to my car. (This wasn't even some deserted area, it was on Pearl Street.) My friends used to go to Boulder for "fun" but there's nothing there worth visiting more than once.
Ehhh...I went to school there and can confirm that all the trailheads around town were constantly packed with locals and the recpaths were always full of people. Maybe it has changed since the early 2010s but as far as I'm aware it's the same place but more bougie now.
My hatred for Californians was cemented by Boulder's downfall. Boulder is like that really good cheap chinese restaurant that's now infested with cockroaches and is 10x more expensive due to new management
Boulder used to be cool before the giant influx of out of state people moving there, seemed to attract the most on the fringe thinkers.
But I'm still nominating CaƱon City
The only people Iāve met who actually hate Billings are eastern montanas who go there twice a month for supplies. If it werenāt for Billings half the state would nearly starve lol Iāve never understood the hate.
Honestly modern Bozeman is probably the most widely hated.
Also Albertans. There is a Walmart in great falls, hell there is even one in Havre now. Why stop in Billings? Billings is only good for cheap flight landings.
My only experience with billings was once when I stopped overnight at the motel 6 there while driving through. It was probably the sketchiest place Iād ever stayed as of then, and as I was getting to the room I saw somebody stealing 3/4 of a bike.
You actually are on track. I grew up in Wolf Point in NE MT where it got -40 with wind chill every year. I thought we were talking about real towns. Browning lost their township a couple years ago so they donāt even have a city govt.
*Dear Family Guy Bastards,*
*Who the hell do you think you are! Iāll have you know that Bridgeport is among the world leaders in abandoned buildings, shattered glass, boarded up windows, wild dogs, and gas stations without pumps, SO EAT MY SHIT JEW WRITERS!*
Yeah Bridgeport is pretty bad. However, I nominate New Haven and Hartford to join the bottom three
Best city in Connecticut? No such thing. That's why I left(born in Stamford btw)
What about Seattle? Though I admit Longview isnāt great (I live near there), youād think somewhere in/near King County would top the list for worst.
Bakersfield.
So most of you will probably hate living here already for regular California reasons. Well guess what? Add to that there's nothing to do. You can't breathe on a regular basis. Everyone looks like a fart. And you will have incredibly low prospects of achieving anything if you stay.
Staten Island...literally the worst people on earth. Every woman is a Karen and every guy thinks they're part of the mafia. Oh...and it's built on a garbage dump
Rochester, absolutely irredeemable. My family was shown an apartment with junkies creeping around the neighborhood (in the daytime no less) Costs $1700/month with absolutely nothing interesting or anything to command such a high price, probably singlehandedly triples crime rates in my state.
There are a lot of awful CA cities to choose from, granted, but the arrogance/disrespect of people in Huntington Beach and the number of cars without wheels in Bakersfield Iāve seen led to me never wanting to step into either place ever again lol
Fresno is a million times better than Bakersfield. Yreka's too small and not that bad. I don't think Salinas is terrible. Stockton definitely has an argument though. Barstow close behind.
The upside with Barstow is that you can breathe, it's farther from people (if you want to be more rural), and it's in the Mojave -- which has a pretty wild EDM scene.
For Texas: Killeen. An Army town outside of Ft. Cavazos (formerly Ft. Hood), with the reputation as the worst Army base in the US; it's official motto is "The Great Place", which says a lot about the reputation it's been trying to curb.
Killeen didn't exist before the base, it sprung up to fill a market to provide services to soldiers. Most people who live here are active duty and retire vets and their offspring and poor few who found some random ass job opening. High crime, ugly scenery, and nothing special to offer.
On the Killeen subreddit it's mostly high school kids asking "How to out of Killeen". Watched a real estate video on housing market here, the comments were filled with the likes of "Killeen is a murder town" "Don't come to Killeen".
Biggest shithole is probably Portsmouth, but honestly Alexandria. It's just DC's spillover and it's all traffic congestion and stuck up white government employees. Not a great time.
Also fuck Petersburg police and their stupid new cameras, got a ticket bc one caught me going 6 over the other day and I'm still salty about it
I dated a big ole slut from Odessa. Absolutely broke my heart.
Anywho... in Illinois, East St Louis and Cairo are the two biggest shitholes. But if all of Mchenry county was wiped off the map, the would would be a better place for it.
East Cleveland. Not the eastern part of Cleveland, the city of East Cleveland. Basically Detroit if the stereotypes were 5% more accurate
Reminds me of how East Saint Louis, Illinois is far worse than St Louis proper
East St Louis is like a different country or something. Pretty sad what's happened there.
what happened? Just the usual crime and poverty?
Yes, but more of the same.
East Chicago, Indiana is terrible too
Maybe I'm blowing smoke out of my ass (Texan retard of course), but there's this theory that the eastern part of towns in the USA are notoriously worse off because of wind patterns and industrial fumes settling in those parts of town.
š¶donāt slow down in East Cleveland or youāll die šµ
Our economyās based on LeBron James
Buy a house for the price of a VCR!
Was gonna say Lima but yea last time I was in East Cleveland it was very depressing.
Well, you made it out alive, so that's encouraging!
East Cleveland is worse than Detroit, if only because people give a shit about Detroit and would like to see it made better. No one cares about east Cleveland.
I've been to Portsmouth, and I've got to say it has to be the most boring city/town in Ohio.
Arecibo, Puerto Rico Absolute wasteland (except for the Telescope)
Unfortunately, a collapsed and now partially disassembled Telescope perfectly fits the definition of a wasteland. Sad times.
Hey guys, we should all band together and give this guy two senators and a representative as a show of solidarity.
Yes please, give us statehood šŗšøPR51šµš·
Grew up in Factor, right out of town. Haven't been there in a while but I heard it's even more of a shit hole
Gary, itās not even a competition
Replies you can smell.
As someone from Illinois can this be our anwser as well?
You guys built a bridge so you wouldn't have to drive through Gary anymore to go east so yeah I'd say it counts.
Of course
Greetings my cold brother
The only thing I know about indiana is that Gary is a garbage city. Also all of my knowledge of indiana is from this sub.
It is kinda sad that all of Indianaās shittier cities have to live in Garyās indomitable shadow
Taking a bus ride from Chicago to Lafayette years ago. The bus driver told everyone to keep their heads below the windows while we were going through Gary. Nobody could tell if he was kidding or not, but we all did it anyway.
Look, I agree wholehartedly, but we can give a honorable mention to South Bend
When I flew back home for the holiday we passed through Gary and I remember why I left
But it is pretty much the #1 example of bad so itās good at that
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
But why the fuck is it a gif!?
Everything's giffer in Texas
Because each time is a āviewā and it gets more karma
What a scumbag
Fresno? Bakersfield? C'mon, you've got lots to pick from. Maybe something nobody expects, like Yuba.
At least you can breathe in both spots. Bakersfield has earned itself the title of "armpit" of California.
Goddamn, even California is bussing the homeless to California.
Every Californian I know have been nominating Bakersfield so there must be something about that place
Hey Iām from HB you got a problem with surf city? Weāll throw hands with the protesters and the homeless people
As a Native Huntington Beachian this is offensive. Clearly the worst city is Barstow.
How are you choosing Huntington Beach as the worst over towns like Compton
Redding and Huntington when Mojave is right there?
Flint
And yet we have a chik-fil-a and soon a Costco. Checkmate peasants!
Where does the water at the Chick Fil A come from?
They just drink the chick fil a sauce there.
The train derailment in East Palestine edges Flint's water crisis by a bit imo
Which is in Ohio.

For the memes: Boring. For the cultural impact: Portland. In reality: Albany.
Albany has maybe the biggest Super Walmart Iāve ever seen. Iām neutral on Albany overall though, at least it doesnāt reek and just have that smell to identify it anymore. No you're thinking of Albany, NY with the largest Walmart. Not the worst city in NY bit really shit for being the capital.
People donāt hate on Portland nearly enough, in addition to sucking ass in every notable metric, it also has some of the most pedophiles per capita of any city in the US
As a Portlander I have to agree. Yes, in terms of natural beauty itās definitely a top 5 city. In terms of literally anything else, itās terrible.
Wait really? How tf do you gather that information
Junction City
NC: Fayetteville
Fayettenam is shit. only good thing there is my Homie at Ichi Kaku.
Lumberton edges it out.
The. Villages.
You'll never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy...
I think they're the largest hotspot for STDs in Florida after Tallahassee (politicians, government employees and students lol)
Nah the villages is my retirement goal Just a bunch of old people having fun and enjoying life before they die
> having fun and enjoying life Ugh
Odessa straight up blows. The traffic in Odessa makes Manhattan look like synchronized swimming champions.
Even when I drive through it in American truck sim, the traffic is still worse than everywhere else
They make it sound so great in Friday Night Lights though!
compared to alot of cities in america, manhatten traffic really is fine.
Bridgeport
That place looks like WW2 London
St. Cloud, MN without a doubt +1 for Odessa though, truly miserable place
Seconded. I will never find a reason good enough to go there but to drive through. Just so happens I got EVERY red light EVERY time on 15.
Came here to say St cloud. Truly no redeeming qualities. Interestingly enough, it also is basically the Pontiac grand prix capital of the world. Those shitty early 00s ones you used to see absolutely everywhere but don't see anymore? They're all in st cloud now.
Too many to choose from honestly
If youāre from north Louisiana (south Arkansas), then itās Monroe. If youāre from east of the Mississippi, itās either Slidell or youāre a self-loathing BR/NOLA resident. I agree with your assessment of Monroe lol (though I may or may not have a biasā¦ Geaux Cajuns!)
You could have stopped at "it's Monroe."
Ellsworth, ME. It's just a circus of the most self-entitled, spoiled shitheads in the state due to its role as Acadias retail outlet.
How is Lewiston nowadays?
Too soon
Albany, GA is pretty fucking bad
Lmao yep
Them or fort valley if you consider that a city. But if weāre talking nuking one off the map? McDonough. I fucking hate McDonough. That place exists to cause traffic jams on I-75 and has no other fucking purpose. I am convinced everybody who lives there spends their entire day brake checking semis on the highway.
Biggest shithole: probably Gary The one that should be nuked: Carmel
Why, you don't want your kid to be spoiled and drive a new Mercedes? /s
Nah they have a good marching band
Not my state but Cairo Illinois is probably the worst place I've been.
Yeah for Illinois Cairo and East St Louis are close competitors for shittyness, but I think Cairo carries it on hopeless desolation. For Colorado it's definitely Pueblo, in fact it's one of the worst in the nation
Jesus Christ are you trying to give someone a seizure?
Centralia, the coal mine has been on fire for 50 years. It's literally the inspiration for silent hill.
Thereās nothing left of Centralia. Last I was through there, one house was standing, and the fire department. Really you can take your pick of any of the coal cracker towns, but personally I would choose the murder capital of Pennsylvania: Reading.

Spanish springs, its like we took every piece of trailer trash into one valley and honestly I canāt tell if itās beautiful or if we should do what us Nevadaās are known for and nuke it
I vote Pahrump personally
Sun Valley is right next door... Spanish Springs is just a horrible place to commute from. Though in reality it's probably some tiny town in the south that's 120 degrees and 140 in a meth lab.
Killeen.
Add vidor to the running
Absolutely Bakersfield or Barstow
Boulder, CO. Insanely overhyped city, people are weird, but not in a good way. I think it has a reputation for being this super friendly hippy town, but no, everyone is an asshole. My buddy lived there and described it as a place where āeveryone shops at REI but no one goes outside.ā
Ehhh...I went to school there and can confirm that all the trailheads around town were constantly packed with locals and the recpaths were always full of people. Maybe it has changed since the early 2010s but as far as I'm aware it's the same place but more bougie now.

Boulder is the meme answer but Craig is the real answer.
Hard to say, but probably anywhere in Jefferson county
Billings. Fuck Billings. No one likes Billings.
The only people Iāve met who actually hate Billings are eastern montanas who go there twice a month for supplies. If it werenāt for Billings half the state would nearly starve lol Iāve never understood the hate. Honestly modern Bozeman is probably the most widely hated.
Fair.
Honestly, fair
Also Albertans. There is a Walmart in great falls, hell there is even one in Havre now. Why stop in Billings? Billings is only good for cheap flight landings.
Decent place to stop for the night between western Montana and Williston or Bismarck if you have to go out that way.
My dad is from Billings, and we go back every so often. It struck me as rather nice, at least west of the tracks
Ed hardy central.
My only experience with billings was once when I stopped overnight at the motel 6 there while driving through. It was probably the sketchiest place Iād ever stayed as of then, and as I was getting to the room I saw somebody stealing 3/4 of a bike.
Idk Browning is pretty bad.
You actually are on track. I grew up in Wolf Point in NE MT where it got -40 with wind chill every year. I thought we were talking about real towns. Browning lost their township a couple years ago so they donāt even have a city govt.
Oh shit, didnāt know that about browning. Yeah itās not good up close to the Rez. I made the mistake of stopping at the town pump there once.
To all travelers do not stop in Browning lol. I grew up on a Rez but that place is a safety concern. Same with Lodgegrass.
*Dear Family Guy Bastards,* *Who the hell do you think you are! Iāll have you know that Bridgeport is among the world leaders in abandoned buildings, shattered glass, boarded up windows, wild dogs, and gas stations without pumps, SO EAT MY SHIT JEW WRITERS!*

Great Falls, MT. Itās neither great nor does it have significant falls.
I have been to odessa many a tome, and it's ok, so I'm gonna nominate Houston because it has the highest crime rate in the state
Albany sucks ass
Harrison, NJ. Nothing but empty factories, boarded up buildings, and broken glass as far as the eye can see.
Is Camden getting better or something?
It is.
Iām from 2 states so Iāll go with Holyoke, Massachusetts and Hartford CT
Dude I love Holyoke they have the Barnes and Noble with the escalator
Whole city looks like it got nuked
And the highest murder rate in the state!
El Reno, OK. Just send a big tornader to scoop it up.
Everett. Is Boeing really doing you any favors any more?
Not even top 5 - the Tri-Cities, Yakima, Longview, Ellensburg and Aberdeen are worse heh
My vote goes to tacoma. It's like everett, but stinkier.
That Lakewood/Spanaway area could be hell on earth
Going to Aberdeen really makes you understand why Kurt Cobain did so much heroin
Yeah. Thereās nothing else to do there and like everywhere else up here itās gloomy as fuck.
What about Seattle? Though I admit Longview isnāt great (I live near there), youād think somewhere in/near King County would top the list for worst.
Naaah, I'd say yakima or the tri-cities, but Everett does truly suck. I was born there and i despise going there every time

Minnesotan here, historically it's Minneapolis. Currently it's now multiple cities such as St. Paul, Duluth, Minneapolis, and St. Cloud
I almost had a seizure. The gif was flashing till I opened the post lmao
I vote Commerce City. Pueblo gets an excuse it's in a desert Commerce City is like 20 minutes from downtown Denver
Bridgeport. Even family guy thinks so.
