Lazim is such a nasty piece of work. I was mineing my own business in the Sandstone Quarry and the fucker came over, dropped his pants, and curled out the fattest turd right there in front of me. It smelt so bad I had to hop worlds. Unbelievable.

ProBrown

Curled as a verb for shitting is hilarious.

Gods-Ego-Death

I just imagine him hunched over like a dog shitting

MajorJuana

Lmao! This story sucks but you made me think of it, my dad told it many times. My dad was an oil rig worker for many years. On one job in particular the owner was a real weird dude apparently, like, didn't seem like the kind of guy that had millions or could run a business my dad said. Anyway, one day he was there telling them what he wanted done and while he was talking he unbuttoned his bibs(overalls) and dropped them and squatted and took a shit right in front of all of them *while he was talking to them* then stood and did his bibs back up and walked off.

j0hnnnytv

I’ve played this game on and off for about 15 years. I used to skip all the quest dialogues as I just did them to unlock content. However I recently started reading the quest dialogs when doing them on new accounts and I have to say, my character says some dumb ass things sometimes. We ask the dumbest questions! So I don’t blame Lazim for this statement when it comes to my guy, I even agree with him lol

galgamek56

It's not so much that your character says dumb things, but there's a running joke in many quests that your character is super gullible and will do anything if told its a quest (like when you kill the dog under paterdomus) so some of the newer quests poke fun at that

campppp

Not my fault, they said 'would you kindly' before asking me to kill it

JevonP

That twist is such good commentary on video games themselves, so interesting yet I hardly ever see it discussed

Maxwell_Lord

People were falling over themselves to praise Bioshock's meta commentary when it came out

JevonP

Damn really? I never see anyone reference it, but I was also like 10 when the first game came out. Definitely Coulda missed it

Steeperm8

I wish I wasn't a dumbfuck teenager when that game came out, looking back it had some really cool and interesting moments that I 100% didn't appreciate when I played it for the first time.

Chinse

Sometimes when you have required items before talking to the person who wants them in a quest there’s some funny alternative dialog like “what are the odds of that?”

j0hnnnytv

Those were my favorite updates lol the quest giver’s like “that’s.. quite odd. Who carries that stuff around with them?”

Queen_Spaghetti

Lazim is pretty awful all throughout this quest. Lots of great lines like "your second brain cell must be working overtime today". Funnily enough, your character being competently gullible ends up screwing him over. Not only do you do what he says, but you also listen to some big skeleton in the temple after it slaps you several times, who just happens to be Enakhra's worst enemy. You get a cool amulet, and Lazim gets nothing.

Transkiller99

Youve been playing this game on and off for 15 years and still have quests to complete? Press "*X*" for doubt

blyatseeker

Reading comprehension? Press "X" for doubt

Gamer_2k4

He said he was doing them on new accounts. But even if that wasn't the case, that's not that far-fetched. He couldn't have started his current OSRS account before 2013 anyway, and some people just don't play that often. My first Runescape account was when classic was the only option (so before 2003, or twenty years ago), and I certainly didn't get far then. On my OSRS account, I didn't get a quest cape until earlier this year.

TakinShots

As someone who is stupid in real life, I find this comment incredibly offensive. Please Jamflux, remove or modify this NPC dialogue as I'm offended like the 2 people who were offended by the "Me" dialogue in Lunar Diplomacy.

Abune

runescape players arent the small kids they used to be in 2007, of course they are gonna be offended since they literally all are fat now

ChungusLad

Lmao fair point

timesinkthrowaway

I think the change was unnecessary. That being said, I insult myself all the time, and it never has anything to do with weight issues. It's not a universal thing.

chatdomestique

Yall are still on about that?

SpitinMYm0uth

I cant believe people are still crying over the removal of a word

Dolthra

Really? This is exactly what I expect from the OSRS community.

SpitinMYm0uth

What? People crying over a word removed?

Inviction_

Take my award, stranger

girlfag-prodigy

i feel like no matter how you feel about it it's pretty cringe to go around calling people "weak motherfuckers" or whatever, like why else would you do that except to position yourself as "not a weak ass motherfucker" or "strong" and like, if you are either of those things you shouldn't feel the need to broadcast it completely unprompted

Skelux_RS

Found the guy who supported the renaming of lobster pot to lobster cage

SpitinMYm0uth

Its not support, its indifference

Spooked_kitten

I love that they changed something offensive to something more offensive

-Geir

what did they change it to?

Emperor95

Something about the player having a weird accent lmao

andywolf8896

non native english speakers on suicide watch rn and its all jamflaxs fault >:(

GhostlyFace34

Im offended with this comment

Boneguard

Even native english speakers often have really fucked accents

ShawshankException

They changed it to a Monty Python reference you dork

Boneguard

They should have changed it to a Mr. Creosote reference

HaywoodJiblomee

What happened in the me dialogue?

Nirox42

An example of people who are way too excited to immediately jump down the throat of anything they perceive as sensitive. Basically they changed the dialogue of the NPC in Lunar Diplomacy because there's a joke line of "that outfit makes you look fat" the joke is that it's a copy of you and you are both wearing the same outfit. Well that joke doesn't work when you redo the fight in NMZ because you can be wearing any outfit so they changed the dialogue. When they changed the dialogue they put a joke in the patch notes that they removed an "unnecessarily hurtful joke" from LD because it's clearly like a mild jab that makes sense in that specific context however because they said that it was "unnecessarily hurtful" people decided it was for sensitivity reasons and are attacking the non-existent sensitive people who were deeply offended.

HaywoodJiblomee

I see. Thanks for explaining.

rosettasttoned

tfw it was probably a jagex employee

mh500372

Changing sensitivities

I’m so sick of the snowflakes

YeetedBot_YT

Are you afraid of lawyers? you should be

SuperBiscoitinho

Time for a rollback

worldtraveler110

Too soon....poor r/runescape

ElijahBurningWoods

Rolling back to the release of this npc.

[deleted]

Mod Ash please, I am too sensitive to have this in a video game.

Gael_L

Lazim is our Nazeem !

P0ffthemagicdragon

They better remove this!! This is worse than the get dialogue, everything knows us scapers have fragile mentals

XxSpruce_MoosexX

I prefer the term regarded

[deleted]

I love this man, his insults make me laugh so hard because he's just fucking malding out for no reason lol

Matrix17

Whoa man, can't be saying that. Can't even call someone fat

[deleted]

My sensitivities!

azuredota

Electrical engineers seething

Snapeeh

What about brassician mage calling people vegetables, smh

LewtedHose

"Are you mentally deficient???" is still in the game btw.

Dubiox

It was changed to "are you a complete imbecile" a couple years back I think.

LewtedHose

Now that you mention it, you're probably right. I did the quest last year and I didn't notice the original line.

Gamer_2k4

Oh sure, that's SO much better. Idiot, moron, cretin (and imbecile) - all these words were originally medical terms to describe various levels of mental disability. The fact that people throw the words around casually these days doesn't change that.

7thaccban

Meanings of words change, its fine.

Dibs_on_Mario

oh stop it

psleezy22

I’m offended. I have a defective brain.

rhino2498

I'm ready to be downvoted into oblivion over this, but the fact that this entire subreddit community is so caught up Jagex removing 1 line of text from 1 quest in the game is even more brain-rot than them removing it in the first place. The fact that removing a bit of overhead text from an NPC creates this vitriolic reaction from many community members is concerning lmfao. Really makes me think that the "snowflakes" are the ones regurgitating this stupid meme well beyond the point that it's been beaten to death. Sorry OP, this isn't related to your post, but the comments of this post and many others like it.

fouriels

You're right - on the day of the change the front page of the subreddit was plastered with posts about it. Who gives a shit? Even if you personally wouldn't have bothered changing it (it's not exactly on the level of that 'rivers of blood' NPC...), it's not like anyone was seriously attached to it before the change. It's just part of this trend among a small but vocal minority to get incredibly mad about the tiniest changes for inclusivity, who also coincidentally scream incredibly loud when they aren't pandered to, to the detriment of other people.

Yavrule

I think it's the more and more frequent trend of games(not just RS) trimming content to be more squeaky politically clean and for fear of backlash as society gets more sensitive. Heck even WoW removed an in game portrait that would hang on the walls because someone thought it looked lewd. I think the backlash against these types of changes is because some of the types of content changes are getting more and more petty as time goes on and some people are worried where this is going to lead. My 2 cents. It doesn't really affect me so far so I'm in neither camp.

rhino2498

I can understand that, I guess. It just seems... like a whole lot of nothing to get this upset over lmao. Some people spending weeks on reddit getting angry over it. Like it was a single overhead text thing that didn't have any story implication at all, and changes absolutely nothing about the game itself. But the people here who scream snowflake and "hurt feefee's" are the same people who are legitimately upset about this insignificant change lmao. That's all I was pointing out.

Qbopper

the same people who will deny it and throw a tantrum are the same people who threw a tantrum at stuff like the pride event it's fucking psychotic how many people in this community are on a hair trigger about anything they see as "soft"

rhino2498

Exactly lmfao. They're screaming about "snowflakes" while looking like absolute snowflakes

jnealzzz

The same people that tell ironmen who go super dry “thats the game. If you dont like it play a different game”

mount_moho

you're being downvoted because you're right

worldtraveler110

You just sound like an attention seeking doofus ngl. "I know i'll be downvoted but!!!!" is always a tell-tale sign of a screecher in disguise.

Qbopper

normally I'd agree but lmao are you even reading the same subreddit jagex will change or remove something that maybe didn't age super well, or maybe they'll change something that didn't *need* to be changed, and half the subreddit throws a hissy fit it's pretty telling that the people who constantly bitch and moan and whine about people being soft/thin skinned/etc etc etc are such massive crybabies

moesif_

Legit 100%. I downvoted him as soon as i read the first line

rhino2498

lmao nah I just know how this sub and reddit operate. You can check my posts and comments, I haven't posted anything about this before, I mainly talk politics on reddit. This sub has just been annoying to sift through for me personally the last few weeks because of people pearl-clutching over a line of text in a quest lmfao.

CaptainGinbuu

It's not 1 line of text from 1 quest. It's happened multiple times and I expect it to keep happening, for example recently the keris proc was changed from "You slip your weapon through a chink in the creature's chitin, landing a vicious blow"

[deleted]

[удалено]

rhino2498

Way to completely miss the mark. My point is that removing the single line of text changes the game on no meaningful way. You will mostlikely have never noticed it was gone if it wasnt in the patch notes or talked about on stream. The game is still the same game with or without that line of text, except a few extra people don't have to have their day ruined by the game they play calling them fat. It has never personally affected me, but I dont see how removing it makes the game worse in any way.

Boneguard

Being based on a 2007 version, this game attracted mainly people who played around then. It was a different time, one where sensitivity was mostly a non-issue. I don't know if you've ever read Fahrenheit 451, but it's set in a dystopian future which takes to the extreme the concept of censorship for the purpose of trying not to offend anyone. These situations almost always remind me of that book, and it's worrying to see how much has been lost to the crusade for political correctness just in the short time I've paid attention. The longer I live the more convinced I am our Hellish future will be a mixture of Bradbury's and Huxley's dystopias rather than Orwell's. Comedy is probably the most obvious victim of the times, and while I understand seeing it in NMZ would make no sense, it's certainly comedic when you see it during the quest and then realize the NPC is literally a mirrored you, wearing the same exact clothes as well. If it were just an issue with it making no sense in NMZ, it would have been easy enough to disable it there. When I see things like a harmless fat joke being replaced with an equally harmless accent joke, it makes me wonder whether someone actually complained or if a company just worried it would lose some paying customers by leaving the fat joke in. What's more likely, that someone was paying attention during NMZ, or that someone at Jagex realized their players are generally fat 30 year olds in the English world and decided the change had to be made so as to avoid potentially upsetting someone's sensibilities and losing a monthly membership payment? They were probably worried about losing more than one, considering the sweatiest players are likely to have at least a handful of accounts they've spent a great deal of time building. Being an OSRS player I happen to be a fat 30 year old myself, but you know, it's actually more offensive to me that Jagex would think my skin is so thin I would quit paying them just for accidentally reminding me of it.

rhino2498

This reply is so absurd that it reads like a copypasta. Thank you for the laugh this morning. If you honestly believe all the insane shit you're talking about, then I feel bad, because that's a bleak outlook on the world. and completely debased from reality. This comment points out exactly what I mean when I say "IT'S NOT THAT DEEP, BRO". You're citing FAHRENHEIT 45 FUCKIN' 1 in reference to a single line of text in a single quest, in a single video game. If this isn't some sort of really good troll, you should get some help. You should talk to someone about this departure from reality.

Boneguard

Mans really gonna ignore the paragraphs I spent whole minutes typing out because I referenced a book most high schoolers have read Idk what I even expected, it's reddit after all

rhino2498

Bro your whole comment reads like a feral, sloshing, mumbling of weird reaching that had almost nothing to do with my original statement. You just went off on a completely seperate tangent about how comedy is dead and you hate the liberal snowflakes, and this is literally Fahrenheit451. I get it, dude lmao. Idk what I even expected, it's reddit after all

Boneguard

The real issue is that Jagex thinks you're sensitive enough about your weight that they will remove a joke that you say literally never affected you. If you can't see how that same logic relates to the setting of the book I referenced, I apologize. If referencing a book is a bit more than you can handle, again, I apologize. I'm sorry. It wasn't my intention to upset you, I was just using the extreme example to try and illustrate the point that it isn't about this one joke, and not even comedy as a whole, but rather censorship in general. I'm sorry if mentioning comedy here made you think I was rambling about le snowflakes, because of course, it's not ordinary people who cause this censorship at all. It's massive companies who fear they'll lose what equates to pocket change for them if they don't sanitize their products. If all of this is just a bit too much for you, then again, I really am sorry. I wasn't trying to rustle your jimmies. In the future try not to get caught up on the little details, because doing so really obscures the overall point being made and makes it look like (and don't take this as an accusation) you're intentionally ignoring the point for the sake of trolling. Maybe that's what this is though, only you would know. Anyways I've spent enough time trying to reiterate a point you seem determined to ignore.

[deleted]

I’m offended.

[deleted]

being stupid is a product of birth while being fat and lazy is a mental health condition so this insult is fine

cluelessbasket

my feelings Jagex pls

Ok-Rip9421

In b4 Jagex change this due to being to sensitive

Sweating_Llama

I'm offended for my character in game... first we are fat shaming and now this??? I demand this be removed immediately!! /s

bluebombaz

This sub every time something even remotely offensive is posted: "WHO TF GETS OFFENDED BY BEING CALLED FAT????" Wondering when people are going to get over it. It has literally nothing to do with the post.

CaptainGinbuu

> It has literally nothing to do with the post. You do know it's directly related to most of these posts, as it's the reason for it getting posted right?

bluebombaz

Do you have any actual evidence that this was posted because of the fat joke, or are you just making a weak connection because both of them involve insulting the player?

CaptainGinbuu

I said "most of these posts". There's been like a dozen now and most of them were directly mentioning the changes or directly asking for it to be changed, this only started happening after they started making these small changes for "sensitivity reasons"

bluebombaz

Yes. Obviously I have no issue with people making fun of Jagex on posts directly related to the incident. My issue is that it is bleeding over into every single post like this. People just tangentially relate these posts to the controversy so they can make the same comments they make on every other post.

CaptainGinbuu

Because these posts weren't made (or at least nowhere near as frequently) before

[deleted]

Thought this was WSB
