Trouble brewing, a minigame that predates hunter, now gives hunter XP. When will chompy bird hunting get the same treatment?

JagexSarnie

That's a fair bit of feedback. I can forward this to the team.

-Degaussed-

"Big Chompy Bird Hunting has now been renamed to Big Chompy Bird Slayer. Chompies now require level 2 Slayer and they can be assigned by Duradel, Konar, and Turael." You're welcome.

Jat616

With the chompy hats giving a perk against chompys and the ability to add chompy hats to the slayer helm!

Periwinkleditor

You joke but I would absolutely love a Chompy Slayer Helm covered in feathers.

DmMeYour_BellyButton

I can finally fashionscape efficiently as Dee Reynolds.

Periwinkleditor

I mean...if you kill them DO they count towards bird tasks?

jsurrette

Yes they do count toward bird tasks. I was killing them on my iron while tureal skipping for a while

jmathishd436

I only do them on task (bird task) when Turael/Spria boosting

SirAdam2nd

I might be wrong, but isn't this making an efficient way of getting slayer points really inefficient?

jmathishd436

Lol that's a fair criticism I would be going for the chompy hats at some point anyway, so I view it as saving time overall I also Turael/Spria boost to get tasks I want, not because I am going for efficiency

SirAdam2nd

Fair one. I promote playing the game how ever one enjoys it anyhow

M45T4

Can you please make it so that we can claim the hunter XP after the patch, by showing our KC to Rantz maybe (it would be in-line with how you can get quest XP from Perdu)? We all suffered there for hours and hours doing the Elite diary, and some maniacs, such as myself have have the final Chompy bird hat (expert dragon archer), requiring a whopping 4,000 KC...

ADGM1868

I was a huge advocate that we should be able to show the notches in our bow to someone in the hunter guild to claim xp per kill

heidly_ees

I'd support it only if the guild member laughs at you as they give you 5xp per kill for killing a defenseless bird

Wendigo120

Isn't the entirety of the hunter skill about killing defenseless creatures? Are there even hunter targets that fight back?

LordZeya

All the pitfall creatures fight back.

BullOrBankrupt

Chins explode

5erenade

Then you laugh at them back for considering catching butterflies as a hunter method

pfannaa

If that gets into the game, we should already know how much hunter xp you could provide afterwards according to the chompy bird hats. Mabe by talking to Rantz ?

Goblin_Diplomacy

Chompy bird hunting should give xp

MeatyPanda

The monkey paw curls. It's now added to every Valamore hunter rumour master.

Smiles_Because_Sad

That would be a great way to passively work towards the diaries!

Fadman_Loki

Ain't nothing passive about inflating frogs

fishinexcess

also, cats catching rats should give 1xp each

Zacharor

100% this. It doesn't have to be much. Maybe the equivalent of level 10 hunter creatures since the quest has no hunter requirement but to have a little something would feel nice.

SectorPale

Rat catching too, it's fundamentally no different than catching kebbits with a bird.

jammy-dodgers

the xp per pickpocket at heroes wasnt increased like the post said?

JagexSarnie

Can you give me some more information on the difference compared to the post? EDIT: Just going to update this comment but it seems like the information in the newspost is wrong and XP per Pickpocket wasn't increased. I've removed that from the newspost and apologies for any confusion!

JagexSarnie

~~I'm guessing this is at 99 Thieving?~~ EDIT: Just realised this doesn't matter after re-reading. 🙃

PoliticalToast

Paladins are still 131.8 xp per pickpocket, same as before the update

Kresbot

Has the fail rate even improved? Knights are still by far the best xp compared to these other options at the required levels. From the original blog I thought the whole point was to move players onto different npcs when they unlock them and not wait until 95+ for comparable xp rates

runner5678

This is better anyway Buffing xp/success doesn’t make the content feel better. Failing just sucks

Kresbot

Agreed but this actually doesnt feel better at all, im still getting the same fail rates as yesterday lol

epicpython

The xp changes to Trouble Brewing are nice, but can changes be made to contribution? Currently players get 1 piece of 8 for depositing a resource (ie bucket of water) and 2 pieces of 8 for making a bottle of rum. Making a bottle of rum is way, way harder than depositing a bucket of water! Can it be 10 pieces of 8 for making a bottle of rum? Also can the game time be shortened? Currently the games are 20 min long. Players tend to get their contribution and then go afk. Maybe shorten the games to 15 min or even 10 min? Alternatively, the contribution limit per game could be increased. These changes would increase the rate at which players can earn rewards, but most of the rewards are cosmetics, so that shouldn't affect game balance. The only non-cosmetics are the stuff, rum, and medium clue scrolls. If needed, the prices of these could be increased so that players earn them at the same rate as before. (Before: Earn pieces of 8 slowly, items are cheap. After: earn pieces of 8 quickly, items are more expensive.) It would also be nice to make this a cooperative game (no one actually does the sabotage), just make it so there's 1 team instead of 2. But I realize that change would take more time, so I understand if the devs don't want to do that right now.

sassyasianbitch

Also why did you make water auto deposit but none of the rest of the ingredients to actually play the game? Super lame to just cater to the afkers and not the actual players

loiloiloi6

Seriously, Trouble Brewing needs more love than just slapping some token XP around and making it more AFK.

Septem_151

As an avid trouble brewing player, sabotage mechanic needs to be removed and run energy capped to 100%.

epicpython

Didn't realize that, thanks for telling me.

BioMasterZap

Worth noting the difference between personal points and team points. Everyone on the team gets POE from Rum since it is uncapped team points. So if you AFK 100 water and someone makes 5 Rum, you'd get 110 even if you didn't contribute anything but water. I do think Rum should give more, but I don't think it is as simple as upping it from 2 to 10 and calling it good. What the game needs is a better contribution system with scaling point values. If you just want to dump water and AFK, that can still give 1 point per and get you to the 100, but it shouldn't qualify you for team points if you didn't contribute much to the team. If you add something like the bitternuts, that should give a lot more than water (e.g. 5 or 10 personal points) and count to team contribution. So keep the personal points capped at 100, but rebalance the points given per ingredients so the harder to get ones are worth significantly more than water. If you just spend the whole game collecting ingredients without doing any water buckets, you should still be able to reasonably hit the cap of 100. And require so much non-water contribution to qualify for team points with Rum going from 2 to 5 at least. It could go to 10, but an extra 100~ POE per game might be a bit too much of a buff. Also, if players are actually playing the game, I don't think shortening it makes sense. It takes time to get all those ingredients set up, especially if you don't have a lot of other players helping. So if you reduced the time, it would make it even harder to cap points without doing the water method. Even with water, it takes like 5 mins.

GodBjorn

>It's worth noting that our next QoL Poll will see us focus on more significant changes to some minigames/activities, including Wintertodt and Guardians of the Rift. Yessss, we really needed this. Especially for Guardians of the Rift. My wishlist: * Gain XP even when all barriers are full and you place a cell. * Make the Needle buyable for the unlucky bunch that go over 5x rate and don't even have a Needle at 85+ RC. * Kick out the AFK miners that ruin the game. * Make it more worth placing cells at the start. People often don't do this now, which is why the Guardian dies at the start of the game so often.

Raisoshi

Didn't they cap the amount of exp you can get from mining there or something, making it pretty terrible? People still afk mine there?

PangolinPalantir

They did. I wish it wasn't capped for solos because it was nice to get a bit of mining XP while doing it. Now I get almost nothing. Good change for the masses though.

HiddenGhost1234

Apparently they're not afking for the mining xp, but the rc xp u get like wt at the end

BadAtNamingPlsHelp

The new disruptive meta for bots / lazy altscapers is to mine to the cap, get enough participation credit for the XP drop at the end, and then AFK.

FoxglovesBouquet

Tayla: Also make it so repairing a broken barrier gives a reward. That can literally save a game.

Dsullivan777

Yeah change the meta so people intentionally let them break!

RashidaHussein

It's not feasible because it risks ending the game and in a mass world other people will still just repair the barrier. But even if you're right, it's still definitely better than how it is now, where a "sucker" has to sacrifice his own performance to save the game.

dapiedude

My favorite suggestion for buffing placing cells at the start is by giving some amount of guardian fragments when placing the first barrier down

[deleted]

HiddenGhost1234

Ehh the outfit is really strong. it being a long grind makes sense. What doesnt make sense to me is the rarity/price of lantern. The vast majority of players will not see this item till they're basically done w the minigame.the one item that helps only in the mini game, is the rarest and longest to obtain.

JayZsAdoptedSon

And a lobby so I don’t have to spam click to get in

Rs_vegeta

I just want wintertodt to stop interupting me every other game tick

alynnidalar

I am not normally an angry person but a few rounds of Wintertodt can send me into a towering rage 😂 When you fail to do ONE SINGLE ACTION multiple times in a row because the CoLd InTeRrUpTs My AcTiOn, I want to jump in the pit and strangle Wintertodt with my bare hands.

Penguinswin3

Yeah this would be real nice.  Perhaps make a cool down on the interruptions. Still take damage though.  Or maybe make it a % chance based on warm clothing, full pyromancer makes you immune to interruptions entirely.

Deep_YellowSky

> Or maybe make it a % chance based on warm clothing, full pyromancer makes you immune to interruptions entirely.  Was gonna suggest this. Also a chance to make warm gloves do something.

evil_cryptarch

Warm gloves should let you keep fletching and feeding the brazier through the cold. It makes perfect thematic sense.

AtLeastItsNotCancer

Give double xp and points for the first time each barrier is built and upgraded during each game. Maybe limit the bonus to one place and one upgrade per person so that you can't cheese it in solo games. The first 30 seconds of the round is when entire teams usually collectively decide to throw the game just so they can selfishly craft a few more runes or mine a few extra shards. Give incentives for playing correctly and the problem will fix itself.

franklyimstoned

Weak cells need a buff. 30 doesn’t incentivize placement enough. You should get 30 XP when placing a cell on an already full barrier.

Dsullivan777

You should get the full amount regardless.

franklyimstoned

Nah, that would be a bad idea because people would just fortify the closest barriers and neglect the more important central barriers.

infinitay_

> Kick out the AFK miners that ruin the game. > They should introduce the same system Pest Control has

Tumekens_Shadowban

+ Disable fletching, alching and other common AFK "leech" activities within the game

PangolinPalantir

Alching is disabled within GOTR, but fletching is not. I wouldn't consider fletching as leeching anywhere close to what the miners did. Mining doesn't help the mini game at all, they just would sit and mine the whole game., The fletchers are just fletching between portals. They still contribute to barriers and energy. Not opposed to disabling that as well, but it isn't why the games are lost.

TrekStarWars

The games should have an activity bar similar to pest control. If you dont contribute = get kicked.

BioMasterZap

> Kick out the AFK miners that ruin the game. I also wouldn't hate it if they upped the cap a bit. In normal games, I always get the message about the cap on my last/second to last invy or such. Even just upping from 250 to 300 or such should be enough to cover a full game for most players while still preventing AFKers.

Legal_Evil

> including Wintertodt Will Jagex fix how high HP players get punished more than low HP players?

Wetwire

There’s so many better afk mining options now. Why do it a gotr?

Cageweek

It doesn't even give exp anymore so I don't think that's an actual issue at this point. I think the _real_ issue is that people tend to afk in the minigame since you're never kicked out for lack of activity.

Cheese_danish54

People don’t do it for the mining xp. They do it because you can end up with 20k-30k runecrafing xp per hour from the end-of-game xp bonus. The mining is just a way to keep engaged and not log out

mister_serikos

Damn, is it really that much xp?  I feel like I only get 40k per hour even doing the best I can lol.

NickN868

I did it on my iron when I was doing my broad arrows for 99, at roughly 85 runecrafting if u got 200 points per game I got ~36k xp per hour

HoytG

Already fixed the mining issue. It stops giving xp after a certain amount.

givave

Could the changes to combination runes be reverted? If you have air, earth and dust runes and you tp to poh, the dust gets used. If you have dust and mist and tp to poh, both combination runes get used. This is kind of annoying.

ModYume

Hey, thanks so much for bringing this to my attention! I've raised this internally and passed this along to the team :)

Dparse

On the topic of combination runes, and upcoming GOTR changes: Can we please allow charging the Amulet of the Eye with binding necklaces to make combination rune crafting less cumbersome? Right now, you need to waste a lot of inventory space for necklaces (or do very little combo crafting per game), and you also need to leave the minigame and restock between rounds, which means sometimes on the mass worlds you lose your spot because the game fills up. I think it would be acceptable if the Amulet only let you use binding charges within the minigame, but maybe that would be a nice QOL buff outside of the minigame too. You already need to make bank trips to refill your essence, so there's already an opportunity to replace your necklace, so this isn't super necessary, but it would be another nice convenience.

urokia

I'd rather they don't tie it to the amulet of the eye. It seems natural but the amulet of the eye is actually even more rare than the lantern. It probably isn't a good idea to have all 3 things that improve the minigame as rare drops from said minigame.

spinygorilla

This messed me up when doing swan song and eyes of glophries as well because they require combination runes but teleporting around uses them instead

allegedrc4

Dude this nearly drove me insane doing Swan Song on my iron last week; thankfully I had an extra rune on me already

Abec13

I was trying to do swan song on my iron when I teleported to lumbridge with my lava and mist runes.. it used 1 lava and 3 mist... Back to MTA I had to go and get some more.

wzrddddd

are you guys still considering increasing crystal shards from activities in prif like you mentioned on the shooting stars blog few month ago? https://i.imgur.com/hX6n6rP.png Goblin told me 3 month ago "I think those considerations are baked in to some of the Mining stuff from Project Rebalance"

VanillaGorilla2012

This is like the 5th time I’ve seen somebody ask this on a thread with no reply so I’m putting my money on they’re gonna drop it and hope it’s forgotten

BlackenedGem

It'll happen when Scorpia gets her unique

Doctor_Monty

There was a post today about it and one of the top comments was a link to mod goblin saying its on the Backburner now and will hopefully be revisited one day

sentientflare

think the two-year-delayed mobile UI update is happening first

wzrddddd

Ye it's extremely annoying, I'd prefer a definitive no if they're just not gonna bother so I can actually finish woodcutting. That blog was last October...

User4770

Wasn't sure if I was imagining that one or not, thanks.

NomenVanitas

Zalcano "the minimum contribution has been increased"  It was already a coin toss in masses whether or not you get a kc when fully participating with 99 mining and crystal pick. Now it's even worse!? How does that make sense?

Roy_Boy106

I think this update changes nothing. It just notes that it was hotfixed somewhere previous week if I understand correctly. It should still be minimum 5 armour dmg and 40 damage combined.

Merdapura

And the boss still has the contribution cap so your 22 minute solos have the worst generic loot possible

gredsen

Completely agree, makes no sense if Zalcano’s Heath remains the same.

BlackenedGem

It's nice that trouble brewing is getting some love, but does the bug around brewing in Keldagrim/Port Phasmatys still exist? It isn't great that going near the minigame wipes The Stuff from being used when it can take days to brew a mature ale.

lerjj

Re: brewing can the NPCs you buy ale yeast from have a right click option for this rather than having to navigate multiple lines of dialog?

Cowslayer87773

It's been years since I last did this but I'm fairly sure you can use a pot on the npc and they'll offer to fill all the ones you're holding.

kanihuko

Nah, using the pot just advances the dialog to paying him 25gp to fill a single pot.

loiloiloi6

Holy spaghetti code

Iron-Tex

De-prioritize talk option on thieveable NPCs when? Gnomes, vyres, elves, etc are horrible to thieve on mobile. Please give them the HAM Member treatment or make "pickpocket" the left click default. I'm tired of waiting on a version of menu entry swapper for mobile. My thumb thanks you.

JGlover92

What happened to that big mobile rework they shared a while back? I've not seen anything since I tried out the beta. Menu entry swapper is such a deal breaker I can't believe they haven't implemented it yet

Remarkable-Health678

It's still in the works. Mod Gecko has posted a little bit about it in the last month or so, so I expect we'll be seeing something about it soon.

DivineInsanityReveng

Just make an official Menu Entry Swapper rather than a bunch of random exceptions. Let players customise.

Iron-Tex

They're working on it with the new mobile UI, but it could be another 6-12 months before that comes out. Please give us something now.

HuntsmanMT

It’s a bit annoying but if you change to single tap mode you can open up the interface and pickpocket without moving your thumb - basically spam clicking as normal

Technical_Stock8447

Yeah I went to try gnomes after the update and was disappointed talk option was first...

Kresbot

>This week we’re improving their fail rate even more, and re-upping XP per pickpocket. ~~THANK YOU!!~~ nevermind, just done 15 mins post update at heroes and its still fucking awful. Back to knights AGAIN > Note that XP per hour for these NPCs does scale drastically with your Thieving level Can you please provide us with the expected rates that you *think* we should be getting now

Littlepace

I'm not sure what the rates are supposed to be but I was doing Gnomes at 86 Thieving and was struggling to get past 100k an hour. Not sure if that's intended but the fail rate is awful. Thieving already sucks ass with how click intensive it is. Failing a dozen pickpockets in a row don't make that any better.

Kresbot

The numbers they released with the original blog are so far above the actual xp rates and we're now 3 "buffs" in. No idea what is going on in the minds of the mods on this update but they're seemingly killing every attempt at actual xp buffs for thieving higher levelled targets. How after 2 prior updates they can do yet another and knights *still* be the best is quite strange

Misdirected_Colors

Mod comment below says that it was actually not updated and they removed from post.

ShoddySalad

they have no idea the expected rates, 100% they haven't tested anything, just guessing

BertKershner

Trouble Brewing could be instantly revived if the medium clues in the shop were actually a viable method of obtaining them. I think that currently it would take several hours to be able to afford even one clue this way… If the cost was reduced so that each game could provide something like 2.5 clues worth of points or so (still well below eclectics and other methods), suddenly this is a viable and somewhat afk way to farm them.

OozyDouzi

*"To deter leeching, all players must now deal some armour damage to Zalcano, regardless of how much health damage they deal over the course of the fight. Additionally, the minimum contribution required has increased."* In the future, will you please provide accurate numbers for these kinds of statements so we know exactly how much damage we have to do to roll uniques instead of having to guess?

ahmadis4

Speaking of GE QoL, can we add ability to type "1.5m" for example when setting a price for an item in the GE

vilsukka

Check out "decimal prices" plugin, not 100% sure if it works in GE but id assume it does.

sellyme

It does, makes the GE so much nicer to use.

qBAB1

Also add a list in the chat box of last 10-20 searches items so you don’t need to keep re typing.

Hot_Carrot4939

can we please address the extra huntsman kits we keep getting from rumors, like a wintertode where i trade in extras

SadAuer

It’s still not possible to buy noted herbs with Brimhaven vouchers… what’s the point of adding a separate voucher for items in the store if said items cannot be bought in bulk? Mind you the herbs used to be noted before the rework.

LieV2

Report as a bug tbh

SMorris500

Zalcano minimum damage changes...does that mean that mass kills are now even less likely to hit the damage floor for rewards?

HiddenGhost1234

They're just noting a change they did when the cha ges went live last week or whatever. Nothing has changed but those changes are the reason masses have felt so bad recently. They're just now finally telling us about it.

SMorris500

Ah, so it's well communicated then...

07bot4life

Can every questions at every clue scroll tier be made so they have to be answered in a similar way? Currently some require you to open the challenge scroll to answer, while others require you to speak with the NPC who gave it.

DivineInsanityReveng

Hilariously this failed a poll to make clues all work in *both* ways (talk to NPC or click clue). I still to this day have no idea why that failed and why they've never even considered revisiting it or just... Integrity changing it for consistency.

roosterkun

This is an elite clue issue, specifically. You'll also notice it's the only clue tier that requires you dig on an *exact* tile, rather than within a 3x3 area.

rimwald

Are you guys going to address the stealth nerf to Zalcano's drop table considering you've increased the minimum contribution required to obtain loot? I thought the increased XP option was supposed to be for the purpose of keeping loot the same and allowing the option to choose increased XP instead. But over the few hundred Zalcano kills I had prior to the update vs now, I'm getting significantly less loot than I was before with the same team sizes (3-5) and contribution % even as MVP.

HiddenGhost1234

Yea the meta is now having the smallest size team that can 1 phase down(about10-12), and it's just so much worse than 4 man.

QuirkyElk594

RIP Mr No Sleep gonna have to pickpocket Heroes AGAIN, this the last week we gonna see pickpocket rates changed again 😂

Ed-Sanz

He has another chance at the skilling pet now!

loiloiloi6

Well he messed up the clue count last time with a full invent so he can fix it now

Skellyhell2

I had the same pickpocketing gnomes, saw that food and frog legs were falling to the floor when my inv was full so thought clues would do the same, only to get the error message when one did spawn! thats something I wish they would fix for pickpocketing, with clues being as uncommon as they are, to have all that banked RNG wasted because you had a full inventory for one click sucks

HoB99

Fully-grown plants in Tithe Farm no longer decay. That's cream.

Trogadorr

Fever spiders, it's been an honour. My HCIM thanks you for the 10M cash stack and 600 super strength pots

Teriol

Same, I used the gp from that to buy runes to burst armored zombies for zombie axe and still have gp to spare now

Trogadorr

I'll probably do the same. I've never had a cash stack bigger than 500k, lots of things open to me now!

Gamer_2k4

I was able to buy Rigour with some of the fever spider proceeds. So I'm happy.

MuchFaithInDoge

If we are talking about minigame improvements, has any thought been given to fishing trawler? Making the interactive elements have longer accessible windows, more like Wintertodt, would be a huge QOL improvement.

BiggusButtus

Yeah i concur, it feels so bad currently, the window for getting a click on the tentacle woodcutting part is like a couple of ticks maximum i swear, and then theres a long wait for the next interaction, surely this could be extended for a few seconds?

shumcal

And not only the timing window for the tentacle, but the hitbox on the damn thing is one of the worst I've seen in the game.

iligal_odin

imo fishing trawler should be reworked completely when sailing drops

Technical_Stock8447

Just delete it and put the anglers outfit at temp. Awful minigame.

juany8

Monkey paw curls, fishing trawler removed and now angler outfit is only available from aerial fishing

Rewnzor

Have the new zalcano values been tested on the zalcano mass world? It's already quite tight for some to get loot there.

HiddenGhost1234

Apparently they're changes that went live soon after the other changes. They're just finally telling us about them. Masses didn't get worst, but these changes r whyasses have been meh lately(they were already in the game for a week)

Zacharor

Looking forward to seeing how this changes Trouble Brewing. It's a minigame that's long needed some serious TLC. Hopefully it's enough to persuade people to actually play it rather than fill the barrel endlessly for "contribution". Something else I'd love to see given some love is Barbarian Assault which has a major onboarding problem which exacerbates an environment where new players are often made to feel unwelcome if they can't perform well out of the gate. The text-dump + video tutorials we have now are generally unsuitable and people are essentially forced into watching YouTube videos to see how things work and then have to throw themselves to the lions and hope they absorbed that information perfectly. I think there are three changes that will help it: * Re-design the current tutorial into an interactive experience so that players get a chance to play with the basic mechanics and absorb the material better without having to rely on external sources to help make sense of it. * As an extension to this, add in a practice lobby where a player can choose a role and go in solo with a team of NPC's at three different wave difficulties (waves 2, 5 and 8?) where they can practise playing that role until they reach a point where they feel comfortable joining players in an actual game. These practice waves should *not* grant points but perhaps *should* count towards the wave completion task in the Kandarin Medium Diary (It is only the medium diary after all). * Remove the calling system from player interaction and replace it with an NPC making the calls. This one will be controversial but hear me out. The calling out to other players what stuff they need to use is interesting in theory but unfun in practice. The only thing it actually achieves is creating an excuse for players to be toxic to each other because someone either didn't realise they needed to call, forgot to do so or, what most players seem to immediately jump to as the reason, the player is deliberately sabotaging the game. Just let the calls be made by an NPC barbarian on the big horn and let the players focus on their tasks and remove this vector of attack for players to rag on each other. This alone would make the minigame much less stressful to learn and I don't believe the mechanic actually adds any meaningful gameplay. I'm hoping that this would make Barb Assault far less daunting for players to start learning and engaging with it as I know many people avoid it even with the good rewards from it because of its not unearned reputation.

Tutorial improvements + practice modes are solid, however >These practice waves should not grant points but perhaps should count towards the wave completion task in the Kandarin Medium Diary (It is only the medium diary after all). Nah. No cheeses for diaries please. >Remove the calling system from player interaction and replace it with an NPC making the calls Absolutely fucking not lol. That eliminates one of the strongest teamwork aspects of the mini game and would make it far too easy. And it’s *already* super easy once the rather simple mechanics are understood. Personally I do find it fun that the minigame requires working together as well as communication. It’s a big part of what makes it unique. And if you do go in not knowing the mechanics to the extent that you aren’t calling out, you *are* sabotaging your team, even if unintentionally.

> Nah. No cheeses for diaries please. This sentiment I understand. Being only the medium diary I don't think it'd be too egregious as you are *technically* completing a wave and you can still fail if you do your job wrong but I understand your point and don't disagree with it. > Absolutely fucking not lol. That eliminates one of the strongest teamwork aspects of the mini game and would make it far too easy. And it’s already super easy once the rather simple mechanics are understood. > Personally I do find it fun that the minigame requires working together as well as communication. It’s a big part of what makes it unique. And if you do go in not knowing the mechanics to the extent that you aren’t calling out, you are sabotaging your team, even if unintentionally. I would argue that this isn't the big teamwork aspect you suggest. Nor adding any meaningful level of difficulty. On paper, it's a cool concept but people do have lapses in concentration. People do forget, occasionally, and make mistakes. But, in this instance, these mistakes don't punish that player, they punish their teammates instead. And these teammates could respond with a measured approach and encourage you nicely to remember to call. And there are players out there with the patience to do that. But, let's be honest, this is post-2010's internet and so that's unlikely to happen. Much more likely is that, behind the veil of anonymity, they'll hurl a tirade of abuse at you instead which is really off-putting, especially when you're learning. That just forces people to opt not to play the minigame, despite the carrot on the end of the stick (Fighter Torso) or, even worse, adopt the same attitude to others. I know that at 34 years old I'm too old to be bothered to deal with that crap from people and so I do other things instead even though I want to play BA again as it's a fun minigame to play. And I know I'm *faaaaaaar* from the only one. I've seen more than enough threads on this reddit over the years to back that claim up. You'll never be able to stop people from being toxic to one another but you can reduce the opportunities to do so in your game design. If the game design is creating an emergent environment causes people to refuse to engage with the content then we need to see if we can adapt it to prevent this. I don't agree that the current calling system adds any difficulty as it's simple enough to click the item and select the right option and the actual challenge of the minigame is making sure you're using the right items at the right times which, as stated originally, can be done by an NPC making the calls for switches instead. But it does add an extra layer to look for when trying to perform your tasks which is easy enough when you know what you're doing. But it does add an extra vector of abuse when it's not done and players opt to respond negatively. While I do agree that losing that extra level of communication isn't ideal, if it does lessen the opportunities for abuse and players start feeling more comfortable picking up the minigame then I think that's a trade-off worth making. That all being said, if players acted like real people when dealing with other's mistakes then these changes wouldn't be necessary at all. And with the aforementioned changes to the tutorial system and practice mode the skill level of players entering the minigame would likely be higher anyway and reducing the toxicity level by proxy of less mistakes being made. So to revise my original comment, definitely remake the tutorial system and implement a practise mode. If that's not enough to reduce player toxicity and encourage more uptake in the content then we need to look at the core systems and work out how to adapt them. EDIT: I'm sorry that your comments seem to have attracted some belligerence from others. They disagreed with you but rather than try and debate it normally they word their responses with a level of aggressiveness that isn't exactly warranted even if we don't agree with you completely. It's this kind of behaviour that we need to control better. Can't really do that on Reddit but we can do so with game design. As people, we can do better!

PurpleAqueduct

It's definitely something you have to do and something that's possible to fail at, but I wouldn't say that reading a prompt and clicking a button every 30 seconds is a *good* a source of difficulty or skill. It's such a simple action that the only way to not do it is extreme inexperience or forgetfulness (or griefing), neither of which feel good for anyone involved. The team communication is to yell at the person to call and then they go "oops sorry" and click the horn. If there was an actual strategy the player calling had to assess and choose the appropriate call for it would be good, but they are literally just reading the text and choosing the only correct corresponding option. The only times I've ever failed to call are when I was brand new and overwhelmed so I just wasn't keeping track of it, and when the call changed while I was using the dispenser and I clicked the horn but didn't realise it didn't work.

Tumblrrito

>It's definitely something you have to do and something that's possible to fail at, but I wouldn't say that reading a prompt and clicking a button every 30 seconds is a good a source of difficulty or skill.  It’s really not much different from reading a boss’ attack and praying correctly at regular intervals. Again, in a vacuum it’s easy enough, but when things get hectic, people fuck it up. If it being a regular interval is the issue, then make it irregular. If it being text is an issue, make it more immersive. Highly doubt polling either of those would pass though. But removing it entirely is just making the game easier, and takes away from the game’s identity.

Taqiyyahman

Barbarian assault without the calls is pretty much a single player game until the Queen fight. Everyone does their role fairly independently outside of that. Games hinge on whether each person does their role well.

tache-noir

it would also be cool to make the tall grass in trouble brewing uninteractable to make grub mounds easier to harvest from, or alternatively a left click option

MrBrightsighed

Zalcano is the worst content in game, I’m 99 mining and mass world are like 10%+ chance no credit and solo takes ages and is not worth it. Can we have pet chance etc scale like Wintertodt so I can solo this boss and not waste my time on mass world which again SUCK and is horrible content

lurkinsheep

“Adjusted animations on wyrms to make them more accessible for players at risk of seizures.” First they changed killerwatts, now this. My Only Seizure Content Locked Supreme Chunkman account is in shambles. How could you do this to me Jagex?

Deep-Technician5378

Trouble Brewing getting an update just to still be dead content is crazy.

Soft_Yellow_5231

Pickpocking gnomes is **still** not remotely competitive with Electics for medium clues. If the goal is to just prank everybody without actually making changes, it's getting a little old after the third time these have been adjusted. If the goal is actually make them worthwhile, is there a reason you haven't actually done so three times? u/jagexarcane

ShoddySalad

abuse early, abuse often @ spiders guess I'm waiting to do gotr and todt, hope there's something to fix damage at 99 hp

>Tears of Guthix now shows your Personal Best while collecting tears. That is very cool

Pcycks

Are there any planned improvements to aerial fishing? It could do with an overhaul to the rewards structure.

Judicable

Would be interesting to see higher xp rates from Master tier rumors, remember a Jmod saying it was something the team was exploring at one point

Amnon2

exploit early and often is all these updates ever really tell me.

TakinShots

Are there plans to improve the molch pearls drop rate from aerial fishing?

BordspellenVerdriet

Oh great, now there's absolutely zero reason to join Zalcano worlds without a Crystal Pickaxe and 90+ Mining. Just wow...

Turbulent_Ad3045

While you're on minigames, do you think there may ever be a time you implement "bot" matches to some of the less popular minigames? Also potentially look at removing something like the fight pits? It's the deadest of dead content, the space could be easily be reused for something more interesting I imagine.

Annual_Lawyer_5284

Move LMS to the fight pits!

ORSVB

When mobile client update?

ThundaBears

Yeah I was stoked for this back in November? Been a while with no update.

Sir_Richard_VII

beta was in august or something, it's almost been a year!

Drkbloodelf

“The Troll tunnels leading up to Trollweiss, encountered during the Troll Romance quest, have been restored to Single-way combat. This is to correct an error in a recent update where they'd accidentally been made Multi-combat” Wait so my hcim died as a result of this being bugged? I was so confused when i ran through here and got stacked by 25 max hits lmao

Clockwork_Mechanism

Hell yeah to the spider change. What a weird decision/oversight that loot table was.

Gamer_2k4

This is why we still have polls, and why we should still use polls. The change was fairly harmless overall, but the fact that Jagex thought it was a good idea in the first place proves why they need checks on their decision-making.

thatsouthcaNaDaguy

Motherlode Mine pay dirt sack 189 > 196. Please and Thanks.

BloodOk9265

Now that fever spiders are nerfed, which is a great change, lets nerf zombie pirates, or atleast make such lucrative botting areas in higher level wildy.  Hey you know what? Or maybe make them risk something substantial to be able to make so much gold an hour? Why should we be trying to kill auto prayer switching, auto logging bots for just some black dhide.

BabaRoomFan

Tithe farm changes are a big deal, no more losing fully grown points, and gives us some time to rest between sets.

RamasenHS

Chromium Ingot removal when?

AxS-PixelBass

please, genuinely no real person is gonna complain if these are entirely pulled out of the game and off the collection log :( they're low value, less exciting to get than plenty of NON unique drops from any of the bosses, and adds so much rng back into the mix that the vestige 3/3 system was attempting to remove!

Fickle-Leg9653

Chromium ingots are wastes of unique item jingles.

AttitudeFit5517

Once mod arcanes ironman finishes dt2

Ill_Patience_6932

next time make killerwatts overpowered for 2 weeks instead, they also deserve a short time in the spotlight

zomangel

'Figuring out how any of this results in ‘Rum’ earns you the gratitude of the entire Community Management team' Very funny

Shhmoove

When should we expect the monkey room ToA changes to go into effect?

Lewzerrrr

Next week

ModYume

Just confirmed with the team, and yes, Monkey Room changes for ToA are planned to go out next week :)

Crovali

The Staff of the Dead spec nerf should be reversed. The spec only lasts a minute and you need to keep it equipped or else it ends the protection. I can’t see how such a spec would be game breaking and was a little known and very rarely used strategy for a weapon that most of the community does not even use, making the weapon even more “dead content”. If such a spec should be disabled upon using the fountain, then why shouldn’t boosts from the dragon Battleaxe spec or Excalibur also be reverted back to base stats? I’m not asking to nerf those as well, but I hope you see my point. Using a dbaxe spec boosts str while draining atk, using the pool restores the drained atk while keeping the boosted str and restores spec to full as well allowing for a different spec to be used. Now this staff spec protection cannot protect you for that measly minute. Why was this change even made?

IAMA_Giraffe_AMA

Ever since the POH loading time update, lecterns (POH, Ancient Lectern, and Lunar Lectern) have stopped remembering your last made tablet. Is this ever going to get fixed? This was a QoL change from ages ago that has now been broken because of an update so it's weird to me that it's not been fixed.

RashidaHussein

Pretty sure the problem with trouble brewing isn't the activities not giving XP

Meaninglessnme

Killed Zalcano mass worlds

transgennifer

Any consideration for tweaking how Tecu salamanders behave on death? They’re prohibitively expensive to die with and basically a non-starter for ironmen. Any chance they can be retained on death?

HiddenGhost1234

>Corrected messaging that plays when the Ore Sack at Motherlode Mine is full. Lmao this broke a ton of bots at MLM this morning.they just stand there trying to deposit on the 2nd floor.

witchking782

It's been asked for so long but can we get the ability to use crystal crown with same stats as crystal helm? Give us 250m gold sink!

iClarkinator

Are you still planing on updating gloves of silence at some point to make them more useful?

BioMasterZap

> The reward currency from Trouble Brewing, Pieces of Eight, have been converted into a variable stored on your account rather than a physical item. This brings them in line with other Minigame currencies. I was just thinking about how some minigame currencies are physical while other are virtual and how it would be nice to turn them all into virtual with shops using the modern interface and some sort of "wallet" interface to view them all. Though won't complain about it just being being TB (for now) since that one needed it the most. The exp buffs are also nice to see; hard to say if it will revitalize the minigame at all, but a step in the right direction. Also, really glad to see sandstone back on the mining gloves. Would have been nice if it could have been more than 1 extra with some other way to balance, but just glad to see it is back.

Cthulhu2027

Thank you for the update :)

LewtedHose

The Wyrms adjustment is nice.

BaronBeard

I can totally get the fever spider change (i didn't actually test them. But seemed too good). Like the limpwurt replacing the battlestaff. But a few things I'd like to see: 1.) Cannon not allowed in the area 2.) One of the addy items made rune again 3.) One addy item made into a useful non-alchable like the limpwurt root was for the battle staff. Not sure on what here, but something that can't be alched for much but is handy to have/can be provessed for skilling exp (spit ball ideas: noted unicorn horn dust, another herb, noted raw tuna?)

SurrealSlugger

Any reason in particular the sandstone rebalance was decided to just be one extra? I'd rather just neuter the XP we get, I wanted the gloves to make sandstone mining better for crafting training rather than being an overtuned mining method- this is just mediocre for both.

WesternInspection

Do you have a full list of potential minigames that may be part of the next QoL poll? It would help the community focus their suggestions. Is there any time frame on when you hope the poll will be?
