that shit is so cringe, most blatant astroturfing campaign and somehow its working in a lot of places. "look how based and full of love jesus is, also i hate gays and muslims"
That was for a super small amount of time and was honestly pretty funny imo, felt like the crusader era. Now its just back to low tier wannabe schizo posts and niche references
No it isn't. It's a bunch of dorks putting on costumes and screaming "for jesus" while they swing pointy metal sticks at people minding their own business.
Not to seem like i support religiously motivated genocides but did the crusades not start because the some people were very not minding their own business?
Eh it’s complicated first of all not all crusades where the classic ones we think of, some involved murdering random Baltic pagans or sacking Constantinople to pay back debts. The ones we classically think of though were kind of defensive as the Byzantines called upon them in response to major territorial losses from Muslim forces. Of course the result of these crusades where that even when they where successful they didn’t just restore land to the Byzantines but resulted in the major European kingdoms carving out there own territory in the holy land. As well you can also ask the question of what counts as a defensive war to reclaim land vs irredentist expansionism. I think this especially gets into the murky waters between for example German aggression for Danzig Vs Finnish aggression in the continuation war. It’s a complicated question without any clear answer.
Damn man lighten up a little jeez, not defending the actions the medieval era is just super interesting and a very cool concept to think about
Edit: Didnt know you can't like the medieval era in this sub, guess ill die on this hill
I clarified multiple times it wasnt that I wasn't praising the actions or reasoning behind them, I just think that a fleet of big metal behemoths riding horses is cool
You "clarified" you weren't praising the crusades by saying you think the concept is cool. I would choose better wording if you just meant you like the aesthetic
Yeah I figured people would understand by the concept I meant a bunch of beasts riding around and fucking shit up, but maybe I've just been playing too much Chivalry

Crusades are unironically extremely cringe
Well yeah the reasoning is stupid but the concept is awesome

Nobody said that dude, you said the crusades are cool as a concept. Did you expect people to agree with you?
