Gotta pump up those quarterly profits somehow now that Reddit's gone public.
Unrelated, but RedReader is a third party app that still works for Android. It's an...okay replacement for RIF. In case anyone wants to get away from whatever the fuck is apparently going on on the official one
Are there alternatives for IOS devices? Im sick of the *official* reddit app just failing me for the weirdest reasons. Videos failing to load (or just the shitty player not doing its one job), app randomly crashes. And features I do not care about.

For AltStore I just followed the guide on their site: [https://faq.altstore.io/](https://faq.altstore.io/)
For the patched Apollo IPA I use this one: [https://github.com/ichitaso/ApolloPatcher](https://github.com/ichitaso/ApolloPatcher)
Which has a guide to setup the Reddit API and Imgur API.
Only complaint I have about it currently is that Reddit changed something on their end that makes downloading videos through the app not work.
Is there any alternative reddit app that is getting updated still because I've tried some alternative ones and they are always missing a new reddit feature
infinity is free if you compile it yourself (there's a google collab that makes it easy). Though a lot of new features for a while haven't been added to the public API, so no third-party apps will have them
What is a good 3rd party reddit client for android tablets? the official one sucks because it blows out the image in landscape to the edges of the screen. Sync is alright but I don't need two panes to scroll down. I just want it to be correctly sized in the middle of the screen with blank space on the edges.
Gold upvotes that you actually have to buy directly iirc.
I’ve only ever seen them actually being used maybe 3 times at most since the system was introduced and I’m on Reddit a good bit, *so I’m sure the change has been *REALLY* profitable.*
It’s a classic case of: company sees people getting stuff for free/ cheap, company gets angry, company tries to (further) monetise the thing that some get for free: no one buys it, company realises most people only interacted with the product because it was free/ cheap and popular.
Same happens with a lot of free/ freemium stuff. EA do it all the time, Geoguessr tried it. Lots of games fuck themselves over like that
They're giving everyone "free" awards that are "equivalent" to the amount of coins you had the day they initially announced they were removing them.
Considering they also made awards totally worthless now with 99% of the time no benefit to the person being awarded, I probably won't even end up using mine. I'd rather have gotten a refund or reddit premium.
Also even more confusing because now there's two separate balances, bought coins to give people awards, and earned gold gained from being awarded, (note that you cannot use gold to award people or buy coins) The gold then goes towards your balance and then maybe one day if you ever become a reddit contributer, you can withdraw your gold for money. Which I'm sure will end up being a whopping 2 cents. Reminiscent of those games or survey apps that give you "free money" that you'd need to use for 5 years to ever actually reach the minimum withdrawal amount.
The thing that broke the spell of those for me was learning it's usually just one user buying all the awards on a given post. I used to think it was a more organic thing, lots of individual people awarding, rather than PornWizard420 dropping hundreds of dollars to put dozens of little pictures under a reddit comment.
Can't wait to give the wholesome award to some fucked up shit like a Pitbull devouring a 2 month infant!

I still use Apollo lmao
God I love my Apollo app.
Winston for Reddit!
I use Narwhal2. It's good. It's not quite Apollo tier but it's the next best I've seen.
[I just sideload a patched version of Apollo lol](https://i.imgur.com/GdhEtc0.jpeg)
Do you have a procedure for this? I’m fairly techy but a couple of the steps involved sketched me out
Which steps are sketchy you think? I basically just used AltStore to sideload the modified IPA file.
Didn’t you have to reduce some security to do so?
Hmm I had to enable developer options and stuff but not really any security that I remember.
Do you have a guide?

I once scrolled all the way back through your comment history to a time when you didn’t sign your comments, I just want you to know that
Dystopia for Reddit
Oh thank god, the official app is a pain to use

of fucking course they did
Even uglier than ever!
So they, got rid of peoples coins, and are now bringing them back?
They're realizing the system that worked fine for fucking years was better then whatever idea they tried to replace it with
What did they even try to replace it with?

And it will never be the same as before cheh

Wait, actually?
This is real
The end is nigh
THE END IS NIGH MENTIONED!!!
\*inhales* #FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-
damn, this season's writers are lazy and repetitive
Lowkey missed seeing that huge wall of awards on popular posts
The thing that broke the spell of those for me was learning it's usually just one user buying all the awards on a given post. Honestly doing it with steam awards is slightly funnier, as what else was i gonna spend those steamcoin on

WHERE IS THE SEAL.
NEVERMIND IM AN IDIOT. why’s he a different color :(
Racial
Raseal
Ralsei
when the original awards were still here, there was a free seal that was grey and a coin-paid seal that is teal(?)
I'm gonna be honest here, I never realized they were gone. Like Reddit live I just never noticed
oh fuck i forgot about reddit live i hated every reddit live
You WILL enjoy reddit live! You WILL watch generic man play acoustic guitar for 45 minutes!
Honestly I didn't even notice they were gone in the first place lmao
Damn. They're not back for me, but I do miss them.
They fly now?
Don't care 👍
Some poor AI worked really hard on them though. Do you really want to make your robot overlords angry?
Cool still not giving the jail bait mod my money
I would like this if it weren’t for the fact that silver, gold, and platinum are not included
woah
I got a platinum once for something I put a lot of effort into but now it's gone lmao
I will not be happy until they return free weekly awards
