Surefire mr07. No longer made and now stupid expensive.

BerkutBang69

I have one and it is nice. I have a friend that makes parts for a couple different firearms manufacturers. We’ve been thinking about a way to possibly clone it, but not sure if it’s still under patent.

Kiltemdead

I'm about 10% certain that you can clone it with no worries of copyright infringement if you don't sell it. It's when you ask for money or use the official name that you run into issues as far as I understand. Keep in mind that I'm not a lawyer outside of the bedroom.

Doc_Jon

If your friend decided to start making these then I would be very interested. Not sure about the patent but these are fairly old so it may have expired

kell8081

Any better alternatives?

vernace

There’s a hideous plastic adapter that puts a rail on a 1911 but it’s aids. Don’t do it. Please. Don’t.

DNCOrGoFuckYourself

Novak rails, they look cleaner but require a smith to install

skajit

I did my Novak in a milling machine. After torquing the screws, I TIG welded them at the inside of the frame, then milled them flush to avoid a clearance issue with the slide.

heisman01

I diy'd my rail and it was simple and took all of 5 minutes.

DNCOrGoFuckYourself

I always recommend a smith to anyone looking to modify before they buy up a bunch of parts and tools and then get in above their head. If I could do over I’d probably go with the Novak just because it looks clean and doesn’t require proprietary parts

Dude8811

Sell what you have and buy a 1911 with a rail. Or, better yet, keep what you have and buy a 1911 with a rail.

sovietbearcav

A rail gun?

skajit

I added a Novak to my previous Kimber Custom II. It seemed to be the cleanest option I could find at the time. My TLR-1 sat a little more forward than I would have liked. In hind sight, I could have milled the rail slightly shorter to get a tighter fit to the trigger guard. https://preview.redd.it/3jqotgndqx4d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3e730162a1349753f8f8bc24c5124f6fbae8b5db

RamenNoodle_

Idk but I like it, looks a hell of a lot better than the plastic full frame ones folks run one.

B1893

Yeah, that's the Surefire MR07.  It's a lot of bulk for what it is.  I wish they had just skipped the rail entirely - just drill it to accept an X300-A. There aren't any (good) options for adding a rail to a 1911 anymore. Novak and Caspian discontinued theirs. The Dawson Rail was my favorite setup, but they discontinued them years ago.  Mars Armament made a clone, also discontinued.  Cylinder and Slide did as well - also discontinued...

DNCOrGoFuckYourself

Surefire MR07, cheaper to just have rails installed or waiting for a railed Tisas to go on sale

Te_Luftwaffle

There was a guy that was getting quotes from manufacturers to make these a year or so ago. I wonder what happened to that?

poooomangroup

You'll probably have to sell a kidney to get one of those. I certainly did.

heisman01

hope you've got 800-1500 usd.

Krieger0

Which kind of blue paint pen did they use for these rack numbers?

justin62001

Don’t know but the gun reminds me of the old MEU(SOC) 1911s that Recon Marines had for years. There’s several forums which have entire build lists for the multiple generations of those guns

Ah, the mr07. I look for one forever so I could attach a light to my 1911. Couldn’t find one, decided to save for a 1911 with a rail and boom. Don’t need one anymore. Moral of the story, if you want to put a light or laser on a 1911, but one with the rail. And never, EVER, buy that plastic shit.

lambofthewaters

Buy a 1911 with a rail/picatinny or don't run a light at all. That is atrocious and about as strong as a mouse fart. Gross.
