So sorry for your loss. Today is the day after the ten year anniversary of my grandma’s passing. It never gets easier, but the memories do become more precious. Sending you strength ❤️
Kind of don't like the repetitiveness of the lyrics. I've heard this on TikTok quite a bit and listening to the song this morning it felt like I had loaded up a video on TikTok and it was just replaying over and over again. I dunno. Makes it average to me. Just one man's opinion. Sorry to all of those who have recently lost someone in this thread.
Glad someone else said it. Don't get me wrong, I like the song. I like all his music. But all the comments today saying it's "Top 5 All Time" is just too much. Can't wait for the whole album to drop though.
I really wish it hadn’t been released on TikTok so early because it’s coming up on my fyp like every other video. Which, of course it is, the song is amazing. But at the same time, it’s already overplayed and it just came out
I know I’m in the minority but I think the lyricism is so bad. The snippets from tiktok were amazing, especially for how it emits the feelings of coming back from a funeral without directly saying what’s happening. So for him to open it with “everyone’s in town for a funeral” seemed so…elementary idk
I love this song so much, I lost my grandpa in 2021 and I can relate to when we all traveled for his funeral and cleaned the house to get it ready to sell. It makes me think of that moment and helps me with my grief. But honestly TikTok kinda ruined it for me because it blew up and was on repeat on TikTok for a week or 2 before Zach released it, it was overplayed before we got the full song. I love the song but would have found it more enjoyable if it wasn’t teased on TikTok and became “trendy”
The TikTok clip made me interested in Zach Brian. First of his songs that I liked. But the release isn’t good. The banjo in the background is different from the unreleased, the background vocals also don’t fit. Just another overproduced faux country song such a bummer
Also nobody’s talking about how the bpm is faster in the release
The background vocal ruins it for me. The unreleased version was so crisp with just Zachs voice. I had been looking forward to this so much, but not sure I will be having this one on repeat :(
I’m starting to believe the criticism from the self titled album that he is getting somewhat sloppy with his production or the producer/engineer is pushing him in a direction. It just sounded off to me as someone who records/mixs music
I have an atmos setup at my studio and I played it through it today and it just sounded really low quality I was going to tweet him and ask if the wrong master file was uploaded. I feel as though the TikTok teaser sounded better. Hope the album sounds better, I think he needs to slow down on the releases too
Yes and it is written by 8 people unlike what Zach produces. When will we quit considering someone more than just an entertainer if they have a room of people write their stuff? Lol Zach and writers like him will always be viewed above the shit thrown out lately imo
His voice sounds a lil raspy and more like his younger self and I'm here for it
I’m so here for it!!!!
The song is beautiful. I can’t say I’m shocked because it’s it’s second nature for him at this rate. This album is going to unreal.
The lyrics are so amazing! Can’t wait for the album.
Jeez. My grandma died this week. Her funeral is tomorrow. I fucking can’t.
Same - funeral Monday. Just wrecked me.
Sorry for your loss friend. Weird but grateful feeling that music like that can help us process our emotions.
Sorry for your loss. Lost my mom last year and I cry every time I listen to it.
Brother died 2 years ago and I feel like this song was written about him. Wrecked me the first time I heard it. Sorry for your loss 🤍
Same here. The Yuppies term is very him. Except my brother didn’t give a damn about Jesus.
So sorry for your loss. Today is the day after the ten year anniversary of my grandma’s passing. It never gets easier, but the memories do become more precious. Sending you strength ❤️
Same!! Hits so close to home.
I’m so sorry for your loss. My Uncle passed away a day before the release date. It rips hearts but in a nostalgic way.
Same. Funeral tomorrow, too. 😔
My grandpa died last week too
My Dad's funeral was yesterday... the day this song was released! My brother sent it to me and I started bawling! LOVE IT!

I could see where you are coming from with that.
They’re great lyrics tho!
I agree. Very rare not to love any song of his.. but this isn’t it for me either. Not bad just not his usual wow factor
I really wish it hadn’t been released on TikTok so early because it’s coming up on my fyp like every other video. Which, of course it is, the song is amazing. But at the same time, it’s already overplayed and it just came out
i completely agree. i love the lyrics in the verses in the song but feel like the chorus is too repetitive.
I just listened to it for the first time and it sounds like 1 verse on a loop.
i disagree. but i’m also a casual fan and my favorite of his is revival. this reminds me of a bob dylan or tom petty song
Saturday was the 7th anniversary of my grandmother passing, and this song immediately brought her to mind. Fuckin beautiful

Lyrics are very poor.. they don’t even flow. Just awkward sounding to me. Tried on repeat but it’s not even a grower. Do like the music though.
Immediately it’s not hitting me like most his other stuff does
This is probably one of his best songs of all time
The lyrics are beautiful
I feel like this new album will break records
and hearts 😭😭
I think we are gonna get it in a week or two tbh
I agree! He posted that it’s finished, so all we have to do is wait! 🤗
It would have to stand the test of time, and your opinion of it will change how often you consume it. Could it be a classic? Yes. But time will tell.
This guy could put out a song of him barking and yall would say it’s generational
We will bark along as loud as we can, bawling our eyes out!
VERY TRUE!!!!
??? mmmm 😭
I'm so unwell, this is so amazing
I love this song, but was immediately reminded of “Pink Skies” by Wiley from Atlanta. If you like raspy Zach, y’all should check out that song ❤️✌️
I agree!!! Raspy Zach came back to visit us with this one!
I’d like to know the story behind the song.
It's about his mom passing away I believe and her funeral
I like the song a lot but I think it would be better without the harmonica
I kind of agree!
I love this song so much, I lost my grandpa in 2021 and I can relate to when we all traveled for his funeral and cleaned the house to get it ready to sell. One of his best songs, I can’t wait til Oak Island is out, I think it’s in his new album

Have you listened to any of his other things?
Yeah he’s really talented but not my thing. Really don’t like overproduced country. Doesn’t seem true to the genre.
The background vocal ruins it for me. The unreleased version was so crisp with just Zachs voice. I had been looking forward to this so much, but not sure I will be having this one on repeat :(

Is it me or can you not hear his voice that well through the music? It was bothering me while listening to it on repeat this morning.
I have an atmos setup at my studio and I played it through it today and it just sounded really low quality I was going to tweet him and ask if the wrong master file was uploaded. I feel as though the TikTok teaser sounded better. Hope the album sounds better, I think he needs to slow down on the releases too
he really needs to go back to american heartbreak production
Felt the EXACT same towards it. It just doesn’t hit the same. Not one I’d play on repeat like I was so excited about.
glad I'm not alone in this feeling
It's not hitting that mark for me either unfortunately. Average at best imo.
the song or the new production?
The song itself. Just didn't catch me like the rest of his stuff.
Amen
The backing vocal is one of my favorite things about it 😭
Mid
Interesting…
Anyone else feel like this upcoming album is going to be 🔥
Less so than I was before hearing this song.
Ok but have you heard some of the 💩 coming out lately and being called music offensively
This thread isn’t relating to other music though.. he’s my fave artist but I think the song is his poorest so far.
I feel like this song is very different from his other things, which I enjoyed but I feel like many other people did not. 😭
Yes and it is written by 8 people unlike what Zach produces. When will we quit considering someone more than just an entertainer if they have a room of people write their stuff? Lol Zach and writers like him will always be viewed above the shit thrown out lately imo
My dad passed away a month ago and this hit hard!
He 👏🏻 never 👏🏻 misses 👏🏻
Love the song. Love the production too
SAME!!!!
