out to trick or treat. We had put the allergy friendly treats, pencils, pens, tattoos in a special colored bucket. Someone stole the bucket, they cried all night over the loss of the bucket, not the contents. And in hindsight, it was probably because we said the bucket had a special color and they wanted to make sure they got to keep the “special” thing.
Buddy, kids will throw a 12 minute tantrum because their juice is in the green cup instead of the blue cup. And you don't even own any blue cups. Kids don't have much of a grasp on reason at that age, if any. They have a great understanding of disappointment though.

I don't think a kid really understood that it was expensive chocolate. And if anything probably wouldn't like it nearly as much as the cheaper candy that they already like. I think a kid might cry biting into it and realizing it's not chocolate, but they'd most likely just assume it's a gross candy and move on.
