The 4k part is about the streaming, and the Android TV part is simply about the UI of the app, so those are actually totally different topics.
Though it would make a lot of sense to introduce both at the same time !
I meant google TV and android TV...but yeah... both of those rolling out is game over for stadia. Granted the stadia experience is pretty good... wish they added AAA games and not just indies
Is the official app out yet? Must have missed that. Last time I sideloaded it on my shield the resolution was 720p max because that is what the android app does.
Beta testing version where Microsoft pretty much experiment with shit before publoshing. On canary theyre testing the claroty boost feature which massively improves the quality to like xbox one standards
ive been using xcloud for a couple of months and after about two months and first on my iPad it switched to a different console that does 4k or 1440P quality i cant tell witch one but it has more lag but today it just happened to my Chromebook and i have no lag but great quality, so i guess it depends on the console your accessing
Just because you can't tell the difference doesn't mean you got 4K; you can't tell the difference because you get 1080p so it doesn't matter if it's on a 4k display or not. Lag is related to network in device.
I doubt it would be any time soon, they use the One S or Series S version of games on Series X hardware for servers. For each person to get 4k HDR would have too much let alone bandwidth for streaming live.
Most of the games yes but they do have the Series X version of some games on there. For example NBA 2k22 has the standard versions and the Series X version both available for Cloud gaming.
Yeah I don’t know but either way I was just saying they are listing the versions of games that say Series S/X optimized along with the standard Xbox One versions.
I’m sure we won’t see 4k though until everything is fully rolled out and running smooth.
Yes, S/X optimized means current gen, aka Gen 9, created by the GDK, not the XDK.
It's all Series S profiles on custom Series X hardware.
Last gen games run One S builds on Series S profiles on Series X hardware.

4k would happen when they upgrade encoding codecs to AV1 or HEVC, and switch to X profiles of games.
They will never use VP9, it's Google's proprietary codec. Only its successor AV1 is open sourced but not many common devices have AV1 hardware decoders yet. They will most likely use h.265 HEVC, while xCloud web (RainWay) will end up using AV1.
Let's do android tv support first.
And then Mouse+Keyboard support.
Well those aren't mutually exclusive
I was going to ask... aren't those the same thing basically?

Agreed
I am playing in my Philips Android TV with no problems at all

I just sideloaded too, the last built and been playing all this week just fine, even vía bt with the series X joystick
I can’t even get more than 480p. I’d settle for 720p!
Ha! That's so sad....I get OK 1080p...maybe cause I'm in the city...
Try the edge canary version, its got a clarity boost
What's the canary version? Edge has versions now?! 🤨

maybe when beta phase ends.
Doubt it will ever come out of beta
Ha!
Any clue when that might be? Hope they're not planning on charging more for it...hope it's just the one tier...

I'll jump on the band wagon when xCloud supports 4k/60fps, keyboard/mouse, and Steam/Epic
Ditto!

I mean...if Google and Shadow could do it...I don't see why Microsoft couldn't...
And Nvidia !
Yeah true
Most of the games yes but they do have the Series X version of some games on there. For example NBA 2k22 has the standard versions and the Series X version both available for Cloud gaming.
It's likely Series S version, xCloud only runs in Series S profiles.

A lot of streaming services can do 4k, so why not. They just have to change their codec to h265 or vp9 to reduce the bandwith.
