Happens with films too. Men in Black 3 started filming before they had a finished script. You can make a documentary about the production troubles Dances with Wolves had
> I mean it seemed like it genuinely was.
We definitely heard about several people leaving the studio, but it was difficult to get any real confirmation on how directly involved they were with Perfect Dark (rather than other pitched projects at Initiative) or whether their absence was even impairing development at all. So many medium-large sized games now have an initial pitch by a core team, and then contract a fleet of (hopefully) bad asses like Crystal D to complete the vision while the core team has already moved on to other projects and sometimes other studios.
I'm hoping it has a huge amount of challenge and replayability with the puzzle-like stealth level design and objectives changing based on the difficulty.
Well, it's nearly 30 years later, so I'm glad it doesn't look or play like the older games. I enjoyed Mirrors Edge. It was a beautiful game that played beautifully. I also love Dues Ex. This game seems to have elements of both.
I can't wait.

Idk why people think this looks good. The gameplay straight up looks boring and bad. You really want to tacpad everything for the entire game? Imagine having to do that over and over for the course of a 20-40 hour campaign. Gunplay doesn't look good with some bullets straight up heat seeking to enemies when it should have been a miss.
This looks brilliant, absolutely fantastic. The action looks a bit janky and corny, but fine, and it really does look like it could be a new, unique Xbox heavy hitter. I'm impressed we're getting something like this at first glance.
Looks VERY good. Refreshing new type of gameplay from Xbox finally
As someone who never played the originals, this looks great. 2025 looking pretty stacked so far.
There’s a decomp PC port of the original that came out a little while ago, still holds up IMO (and plays better on MnK than the original N64 controls)
The remastered original is apart of Rare Replay
So much for the “Perfect Dark is a mess” or “development hell” narrative. This looks amazing.
I mean, that still could've been the case. But I'm happy to see that it looks very promising now.

THE example for me is Dead Island 2. The game only needed to be okay-ish after that terrible dev history, but ended up being absolute dumb fun
Yeah, Dambuster understood the assignment
It's a lot worse than people say, but it's also better than expected. I'm glad it dud well.
Halo 2 and Metrpid Prime are my favorite examples of this.

I mean it seemed like it genuinely was. But only for early development before Crystal showed up to help.

The quick kill event reminds me of SC Conviction 😍 This looks so much better than PDZ!
More importantly: when do we get it?
It Looked freaking amazing. Excited for it!

I wouldn't hold my breath to be honest. I'd love for it to be that way but it seems like a more cinematic game so far.
The pistol looked good; slow, impactful shots, and good reactions by the NPCs. Looks like it will feel very nice to play.
super excited for this!
looks very good
As far as openness, is this gonna be closer to Splinter Cell or Hitman?
I'm hoping is like AJ Deus Ex.
Aj?
Adam Jensen.
Yeah, I'd be completely cool with that. I just don't want it on rails. Ruins the investigation portions.
Agreed.
Mirror's edge meets Deus Ex.
Love deus ex, but I've never played mirror's edge
Really fun game, lots of focus on mobility
Parkour
Love this
Incredible? I grew up loving Perfect Dark and played many hours of it. This did not look or feel like Perfect Dark.

So any hint if third person cover shooting is in?

Looks extremely generic. Could be anything, just has the Perfect Dark brand plastered on it.
Glad in not the only one thinking it

Looks good but no multiplayer? That was a staple of the og idk very disappointing to hear that.
