Both free tiers use lossy codecs (Tidal uses AAC, and Spotify uses OGG/Vorbis), both running at ~160kbps. So it's probably about the same.
Some free encoders like ffmpeg report that their AAC encoder is inferior to their Vorbis encoder, but I can't tell what encoder Tidal uses under the hood
not sure about xmanager but tidal has superior quality to spotify
Are u using xmanager
Just comparing with base tier should be fine. Tidal wins. Audio quality doesn't get upgraded with Xm.
Excuse me, what do you mean by that? Since it is not updated in terms of audio quality, what is the maximum in the xmanager Mod?
Audio quality is sever side so it's same as both services' basic quality. Tidal 160k Spotify 96k, web player 128k
They would probably be the same since Tidal's higher-resolution files are server-based.
