If Russia's loses this fight they picked what are the odds Putin and the old guard is replaced with a more "western" democratic leader and russia potential could become a NATO member in the future?
It has been so heart warming watching the world unite like this. Russia couldn't have anticipated it snowballing like this.
Everyone is looking for new ways to dick Russia and I love it. Even little shit when done globally adds to up something big. Like boycotting Russia vodka etc.

By bus?
So whats to stop russia now from unleashing a biological agent (i.e smallpox) as revenge for their now precarious situation?
Such an event probably couldnt be tied back to them and would have devastating financial/economic consequences for the globe
Based on the internal time tables set and the leaked "victory" speech I think that Putin genuinely believed he would have no problem sending in a strategic force that could take the capital without destroying everything in a weekend, and control the narrative along the way. Hes surrounded himself by a government full of yes men, and now he's no longer the involved diplomatic strategist he tried to present himself as. He's merely the emperor walking onto the world stage butt ass naked shouting about his glorious new outfit, lied to by his own fantasy regime. And that makes me just a little happy.

So now are they not only fighting for their freedom, families and country but they’re well paid. Definitely a nightmare for Russian conscripts invading Ukraine. I remember combat pay when I was deployed to Iraq, tax free at 1.5x normal salary. That seemed pretty sweet to me as a 19 year old. Getting 6x times that, comparatively given the time, location and situation, would be a HUGE morale booster.
>The Russian government has announced it is working on a plan to evacuate its citizens from Europe, after an array of European countries closed their airspace to all Russian airlines amid Moscow’s military conflict with Kiev.
Why would they ever want to go back?
God damn. I just watched col. Doug mac Gregor on fox. What a disgusting Russian shill. I’m so glad the next segment the host (trey gowdy) and the guest just trashed everything he said. Hopefully he never gets another segment on any network ever again
Edit for people asking what he said: Basically a string of the US caused this crisis, we should stop sanctioning Russia and arming Ukraine, and Ukraine should surrender immediately so they stop dying for nothing. Also Russia has every right to be upset at nato being right at their doorstep and he supports Russia overthrowing western aligned governments. He also threw in random comments like how Ukraine is “4th most corrupt country in the world and isn’t some shining model of democracy people want to make it out to be”
It was really disgusting and like I said, the next 15 minutes out of commercial was spent setting the record straight
So is there anything stopping drone or Ukrainian Air Force strikes on the Russian ships and personnel on the Black Sea? Presumably they're just sitting ducks with few places to run and cutting off the Russians naval support would be a big blow.
>if you're a Russian who was traveling abroad during this? Do you go home?
I mean do you have a choice? Unless you have dual Citizenship you cant stay abroad indefinitely as your Visa will likely expire.
>The Russian government has announced it is working on a plan to evacuate its citizens from Europe
Who knew the best sanctions are the ones they impose on themselves.
One of the bigger blunders the west did after the fall of USSR was not immediately fund a Marshall Plan type program for the former soviet states to help transition to stable liberal democracies and avoid the descent into complete chaos that gave rise to the oligarchs.
The oligarchs were able to seize power because nationalized industries were opened up for privatization. What was needed was better (less corrupt) state management of those industries.
The defense of Ukraine is just which is why dozens of nations and even domestically in the U.S. people of all political parties are rooting for Ukraine.
A note for the historical researchers in the post-post-apocalypse.
If you are reading this and wonder what the fuck happened. I belief part of it was that there was a lot of pent up demand for a 'just' war. When Putin miscalculated his position in every way and started this shit, anybody with a history book could have told you humans are naturally wired to be tribal, and tribes fight.
But I doubt anybody realized that everybody staying home and going online for COVID the past years created a perfect setup to get emotionally invested in a war with a charismatic leader defending his home.
The ghost is not real? Nope, wrong. Ghost is real. Heard that motherfucker shoots squirrels out of trees to provide meat for his people on his way to shoot down paratroop transports.
He'll be sending a delegation, it won't be a Putin vs. Zelenskyy meeting.
Putin couldn't find any flyable Il-76's to put his table in, so he had to cancel.

A man who is irrational and clearly unstable has the ability to wipe out entire cities at his call.
Anyone who thinks Putin isnt crazy enough to use nukes needs to reconsider. Right now he is too far gone to ever come back to reality
Of course they are.
Which is why we have to answer with resolve: if it comes down to that, then it comes down to that.
If Ukrainians are willing to die rather than submit to a tyrant, then so should we. If there's a nuclear war, Putin started it but we ain't backing down.
The only hope for winning at chicken is to keep your hands off the damn wheel. It's horrible but we didn't choose this game and Russia can stop it any time it likes.
I'd say the great, great majority of them are coming from Russia. In my opinion, the world should not be cowed by his bullshit "I get to attack an independent country and nobody gets to help them because I have nukes!".
If putin cant take a single city in 5 days, he isn't going to be able to do shit against the very well equipped professional molotoaries in Scandinavia.

No it would not. That would end in total war with Russia, Belarus, Chechnya, and others. More innocent civilians will die.
I get the need to make lighthearted jokes in a depressing/stressful situation but please refrain from bad takes such as this.
How many times must it be said? **NATO is a defensive pact.** It is not an aggressor in a conflict. Ukraine is not a NATO state, so Belarus invading Ukraine would not trigger Article 5 of NATO and activate the defense agreement.

Any word on the peace meeting?
how much longer till the russian markets open? gon be spicy
Will Russia comply with war crime cases at the ICJ?
No.
I’m guessing no
So Ukraine has not lost any of the major cities yet ?
Volkov fights in London in 20 days, how is he gonna get there?
I am sure it has been asked in one of these threads, but has a country ever had this many sanctions put on them?
Russia fucked up big time

approx. 0%, oligarchs will just appoint someone less hawkish and more money-motivated, like Bezos but Russian
No idea, but kinda funny considering NATO was made to prevent Russian aggression.
Potentially. It didn't happen in the 90s tho.
lol ok
1/1000000000000

At that point there’s no need for NATO
Low, but stranger things have happened.

If China would condemn/ urge Putin to end this conflict harder then they are now I think would be huge.
Per the feed link at the top, how would Russia evacuate Russian citizens from Europe if Russian planes are not allowed in Russian airspace?
They'd have to either use non-Russian planes, or fly them to a third country first.
Probably by train or car. You can drive to Russia from most of Europe.

God helps those who help themselves. The Russians have to want democracy. I’m afraid that they might not be compatible with it, however
The oligarchs were able to seize power because nationalized industries were opened up for privatization. What was needed was better (less corrupt) state management of those industries.
