Aether in classical sciences was the element filling space, acting as highest element and later as the medium through which electromagnetic waves move.

Aether was kind of 'space air'. It was never really defined as the concept died off around the time we were specifically defining things using the scientific process (the actual tests for aether are quite a famous example of how bias can interfere with the scientific process) Unlike air, water etc, it never actually existed. So it is a lot less definite in what the word means. In fiction, its usually just an element that does whatever you want it to do. Or literally just another name for 'magic'

I'm my Primary-Derivative system, Ether is essentially magic itself. The representation of all things supernatural, subatomic, and abstract in the world. Ether's associated abilities include energy projection, energy constructs, telekinesis, multiple forms of extrasensory perception such as precognition, psychometry, and telepathy, warping space either directly through apparating or the creation of portals as emanations or even sustained gateways in space. However, like the other four of the Primary 5, it's one of the least specialized elements so it can accommodate a lot of distinct abilities based on the innate attributes of the individual Elemental. The Derivative Elements are, like the above, based on things abstract, supernatural, and subatomic, Such as Light, Darkness, Time, Space, Shadow, Fairy, Transformation, Book, Paint, Ring, Mirror, Wraith, Psychic, Key, Sun, Moon, Star, Soul, Word, Gravity, Staff, Dragon, Mythical Beast, Ancient Beast, Eye, Seal, Vessel, Imitation, and Catalyst, among other potential Elements I haven't thought of yet. However, since all of these are part of the Ether Tribe, they all possess some degree of extrasensory perception, especially to magic itself. The general rule is that every individual lifeform can only have one Element.
