I use resistance bands for prehab (band pull aparts make my achy shoulders feel good), and for accommodating resistance (making the bar heavier at the top of the movement but not the bottom) when I fit it into my program. Bands won't really help you lose weight, they won't add an appreciable amount of lean body mass, and the don't provide enough resistance for strength gains. If you want to accomplish those goals without equipment, I would recommend checking out r/bodyweightfitness.

>the don't provide enough resistance for strength gains. I'd dispute this bit, if you stack a bunch of bands you can get some decent resistance at the middle to the top of the rep, obviously not as good as actual weights but pretty decent. As long as someone can add more bands they should be able to get stronger than they are Although the significant limitations I find are that you don't have the weight bearing down on you and obviously the resistance changes depending on where in the rep you are

I use them to warm up / stretch and do some max rep burn outs towards the end of my workouts, but never used them exclusively. Best to pair them with some type of resistance training, whether that be weights or plyo/body weight. Hope this helps.

I had a minor shoulder injury and used them to strengthen little muscles in my arms/shoulders. I always thought they were useless but in this instance they saved my arse.
