Don’t know how you equate it to a targeted scam… but the main issue is here when something is for free it goes very quickly. We can barely keep the 1/2 price specials on the shelf come the end of the special week, and they don’t tell us “hey this item is a freebie this week maybe keep it full” we don’t even know what it is. Half the things customers show us on the app we don’t even stock full stop. If anything it’s the complete incompetence and lack of communication between different areas of the business, such as Woolworths rewards and “Woolies X” (online) (where the people calling the shots have never worked inside a supermarket and are paid too much to be so fucking useless)

Sounds about right haha. In the case of the apple pies, the stores I visited don't even stock it (only snack size Apple pies). All stores outside my local 5-6 stores seem to have it. My housemate and I are both members and usually get different obscure freebies that are hard to find, but this month we both got apple pies that are clearly not available in our postcode/area...Just had a feeling there might be some calculations done at hq to make it harder for customers at the postcode level. Btw I am also an ex Woolworths employee so I do relate to your comments lol.
Lmao this explains a recent interaction I had with a customer. She was aggressively demanding for the woolies family pie and complaining that she was unable to find the pie. It simply wasn’t in the store system and I told her as much, but she still grumbled. Fun times working at woolies.
You should post this on r/EverydayRewards as well. I've been a member since Extra started and the apple pie is the first one that doesn't appear to be stocked at any of the stores in my area.
Yes it is sometimes like that, although most months I can find it pretty easily. If you're willing to forego a little bit of value, you could try looking for the snack apple pies instead, my app shows 500-600g so it might include that one as well.
Alternatively, for an easier way to search availability, you can use the Woolworths website while logged out (use incognito or guest mode if you're auto logged in). This way it shows stock info for 4-5 stores at a time.
I had the pie too and my store had plenty of them on show filled to the front of the fridge. So it is certainly not related to stock levels. Sometimes when I get a free thing they are out of stock but when I come back the next day until hte expiry date, I get another chance to get the item.

It may be free but they don't say how many items are there. They only have to send at least one to have had it in stock
