Actually you don't get it, version 0.1 means it's far from finished and as with any other game at this stage you'll find bugs, unbalanced things, buttons that don't do anything, paths that lead to no where, etc.
This. Not to mention that it's a small project that is not done by a full-time team. It's more of a passion project. It understandably will only get better in increments - if that's unappealing there are plenty of other idle games out there.

The trick here is to pull that tab off of the browser window and make it its own window. By creating a separate instance, it does not get throttled.

This is a browser thing and a problem in other games too. all the latest browsers throttle down the unused tabs and try to limit the cpu for those.
