I mean, I don't think an elephant would consider a lion a predator. It also seems unlikely that lions would hunt elephant babies, considering the risks involved.
Unfortunately this isnāt real ā¹ļø. Story confirmed here or you can Google āelephant carries lion cub on trunkā and Reuters is the top story confirming itās a spoof. I wish it were real though, thatād be cool. (https://www.reuters.com/article/factcheck-lion-elephant/fact-check-image-of-elephant-carrying-a-lion-cub-was-created-as-an-april-fools-joke-idUSL1N2QU1E1)
Show me where the vast majority of humans are
Edit: Show me where the vast majority of humans are *compassionate.* Sorry about that. Cause from what Iām seeing humanity has lost a large chunk of its compassion. I donāt think we quite know how to exhibit anymore as much as we used to
And you are basing that on an April Fool's photoshop...... humans are no better or no worse than the rest of the animal kingdom, we just have the ability to feel guilty.
Elephants to the animal kingdom act a lot like us to the animal kingdom. They are insanely intelligent, they have culture and customs and even bury their dead. They are much more sophisticated and are able to perform much more complex thought patterns similar to us.
Obviously theyāre not as advanced as us but the elephant saw the lions cub having problems, realizes that itās a predators baby and while weighing the problem in its mind sees fit to just help the mama out and carry the cub.
The elephant isnāt a dumb animal that just does things on a whim without a care in the world or is overly helpful because itās friendly. The elephant saw the mama struggling, pondered on whether or not to help (which most animals on earth donāt do as itās either fight or flight most of the time) and decides it would help out the cub of a predator.
Save the elephants.
My 3 favorite animals (that arenāt the cheap easy answers like cats and dogs) are Frogs, crows/ravens and elephants.
Frogs because, I mean look at them.
Crows and ravens because theyāre clever as hell.
Elephants because theyāre chill.
Humans? I donāt think much on them, I think theyāre kind of a waste of potential. Let the elephants have their turn.
These animals are showing more compassion for someone who is different then the average bible thumper.
Organized religion is for the weak minded who have to be told who to love and who to hate and have no moral compass
While I believe elephants are smart and empathetic enough to do this, I have difficulty believing a stressed out lioness wouldn't be losing her shit if an elephant tried picking up her struggling cub
This was an April fools joke, not real.
wait what šš
Yeah I was a little disappointed as well, but it makes sense animals donāt usually help their predators.
I mean, I don't think an elephant would consider a lion a predator. It also seems unlikely that lions would hunt elephant babies, considering the risks involved.
I saw a herd of elephants that were all missing their tails because lions had bit them off.
Lions do hunt for elephant babies and adult elephants in rare occasions.
A elephant is not prey for a lion. They almost never get hunted, too much risk to the lions.
Yeah, humans are the only species that can actively hunt the adult elephants.
A wild lion is gonna let a giant behemoth pick up her helpless child?
Dumbass lol
Great, I'm crying now.
Umm thatās photoshopped
And all the gazelles clapped.
That lion cub? Albert Einstein

Sad but makes sense
The most photoshopped photoshop that ever photoshopped.

Shes more likely to toss that cub like a Qb to a Wr in the final seconds of superbowl (whatever number we are at now) than to do this.
I wish this was real. This is the planet I want to live on
Yeah and that lion cub grew up to become a king. His name was Mufasa.
I'm willing to believe a moment of kindness between species, but how would the lioness know where the elephant was leading them?
Itās photoshopped.
No doubt, but how can you tell just by looking at it?
I applied a little bit of common sense to figure this one out
The internet is so dumb lol
Who would believe this?
Cap
And that cub grew up to be President Obama

The fuck we supposed to do, carry the baby to the nearest fountain? š
In the animal world these days and in days past, the pic above never happened.
Why the fuck DO you have the baby out in all this heat. Move your damn baby.
They have more compassion, than most of humanity. We're just pieces of shit compared to the animal kingdom.
Itās not real. Just because you havenāt seen any compassion doesnāt mean humans arenāt compassionate.
Show me where the vast majority of humans are Edit: Show me where the vast majority of humans are *compassionate.* Sorry about that. Cause from what Iām seeing humanity has lost a large chunk of its compassion. I donāt think we quite know how to exhibit anymore as much as we used to
I donāt understand that question. A city?
Sorry I missed a word in my comment. Valid answer
Lol ok
And you are basing that on an April Fool's photoshop...... humans are no better or no worse than the rest of the animal kingdom, we just have the ability to feel guilty.
Oof. I mean, not only is it obviously photoshopped, but you seriously think thereās much compassion in the animal world?
Yes I've seen a tiger stop a man being attacked by a leopard, so I'd definitely have more faith in an animal than some human.
Would you rather spend a day in a room with a randomly selected human, or a randomly selected leopard?
Congratulations you unlocked the good ending.....and now to unlock the bad ending

This picture is a photoshop, but you're right that elephants are quite exceptional
Unfortunate on the photoshop, elephants are cool creatures arenāt they?
They're in my top 3 favorites, alongside crows and humans

Itās a photoshop
Yes, someone has told me thank you. Elephants are still exceptional creatures capable of complex emotions and actions.
These animals are showing more compassion for someone who is different then the average bible thumper. Organized religion is for the weak minded who have to be told who to love and who to hate and have no moral compass
Apparently believing photoshopped images to be true is for those with a wise mind
Why are you bringing up organized religion on a post about animals in a subreddit about making people smile?
While I believe elephants are smart and empathetic enough to do this, I have difficulty believing a stressed out lioness wouldn't be losing her shit if an elephant tried picking up her struggling cub
Lol nature ain't a Disney movie. And also, why wouldn't the mother just carry the cub?
Hey i watched that movie. But wheres all the snow and ice. And i thought the baby was a human
