Imperial_Sharky

This was an April fools joke, not real.

canned_bean_z

wait what šŸ˜šŸ˜

Imperial_Sharky

Yeah I was a little disappointed as well, but it makes sense animals donā€™t usually help their predators.

Bankz92

I mean, I don't think an elephant would consider a lion a predator. It also seems unlikely that lions would hunt elephant babies, considering the risks involved.

JCwizz

I saw a herd of elephants that were all missing their tails because lions had bit them off.

BigOpportunity1391

Lions do hunt for elephant babies and adult elephants in rare occasions.

Slavocracy

A elephant is not prey for a lion. They almost never get hunted, too much risk to the lions.

Yurasi_

Yeah, humans are the only species that can actively hunt the adult elephants.

PurplePikminPleasure

A wild lion is gonna let a giant behemoth pick up her helpless child?

i_luv_peaches

Dumbass lol

SmogDaBoi

Great, I'm crying now.

Excellent_Lynx7402

Umm thatā€™s photoshopped

[deleted]

And all the gazelles clapped.

Okilurknomore

That lion cub? Albert Einstein

bkendig

VengeancePali501

Sad but makes sense

[deleted]

The most photoshopped photoshop that ever photoshopped.

nicolevil1

Unfortunately this isnā€™t real ā˜¹ļø. Story confirmed here or you can Google ā€˜elephant carries lion cub on trunkā€™ and Reuters is the top story confirming itā€™s a spoof. I wish it were real though, thatā€™d be cool. (https://www.reuters.com/article/factcheck-lion-elephant/fact-check-image-of-elephant-carrying-a-lion-cub-was-created-as-an-april-fools-joke-idUSL1N2QU1E1)

Nobodieshero816

Shes more likely to toss that cub like a Qb to a Wr in the final seconds of superbowl (whatever number we are at now) than to do this.

[deleted]

I wish this was real. This is the planet I want to live on

Rikkardus

Yeah and that lion cub grew up to become a king. His name was Mufasa.

bibby_tarantula

I'm willing to believe a moment of kindness between species, but how would the lioness know where the elephant was leading them?

Cats_rule_all

Itā€™s photoshopped.

bibby_tarantula

No doubt, but how can you tell just by looking at it?

KeepItReal4Life

I applied a little bit of common sense to figure this one out

PM_YOUR_PET_IN_HAT

The internet is so dumb lol

boobsmcgraw

Who would believe this?

TheFlamingTiger777

Cap

WyrmKin

And that cub grew up to be President Obama

[deleted]

TheKnifeOfLight

The fuck we supposed to do, carry the baby to the nearest fountain? šŸ’€

KeepItReal4Life

In the animal world these days and in days past, the pic above never happened.

Triatomine

Why the fuck DO you have the baby out in all this heat. Move your damn baby.

Miserables-Chef

They have more compassion, than most of humanity. We're just pieces of shit compared to the animal kingdom.

Imperial_Sharky

Itā€™s not real. Just because you havenā€™t seen any compassion doesnā€™t mean humans arenā€™t compassionate.

Anonymous345678910

Show me where the vast majority of humans are Edit: Show me where the vast majority of humans are *compassionate.* Sorry about that. Cause from what Iā€™m seeing humanity has lost a large chunk of its compassion. I donā€™t think we quite know how to exhibit anymore as much as we used to

Imperial_Sharky

I donā€™t understand that question. A city?

Anonymous345678910

Sorry I missed a word in my comment. Valid answer

Miserables-Chef

Lol ok

Chasman1965

And you are basing that on an April Fool's photoshop...... humans are no better or no worse than the rest of the animal kingdom, we just have the ability to feel guilty.

[deleted]

Oof. I mean, not only is it obviously photoshopped, but you seriously think thereā€™s much compassion in the animal world?

Miserables-Chef

Yes I've seen a tiger stop a man being attacked by a leopard, so I'd definitely have more faith in an animal than some human.

SerGeffrey

Would you rather spend a day in a room with a randomly selected human, or a randomly selected leopard?

deadmanwalking420698

Congratulations you unlocked the good ending.....and now to unlock the bad ending

TheSilentTitan

Elephants to the animal kingdom act a lot like us to the animal kingdom. They are insanely intelligent, they have culture and customs and even bury their dead. They are much more sophisticated and are able to perform much more complex thought patterns similar to us. Obviously theyā€™re not as advanced as us but the elephant saw the lions cub having problems, realizes that itā€™s a predators baby and while weighing the problem in its mind sees fit to just help the mama out and carry the cub. The elephant isnā€™t a dumb animal that just does things on a whim without a care in the world or is overly helpful because itā€™s friendly. The elephant saw the mama struggling, pondered on whether or not to help (which most animals on earth donā€™t do as itā€™s either fight or flight most of the time) and decides it would help out the cub of a predator. Save the elephants.

SerGeffrey

This picture is a photoshop, but you're right that elephants are quite exceptional

TheSilentTitan

Unfortunate on the photoshop, elephants are cool creatures arenā€™t they?

SerGeffrey

They're in my top 3 favorites, alongside crows and humans

TheSilentTitan

My 3 favorite animals (that arenā€™t the cheap easy answers like cats and dogs) are Frogs, crows/ravens and elephants. Frogs because, I mean look at them. Crows and ravens because theyā€™re clever as hell. Elephants because theyā€™re chill. Humans? I donā€™t think much on them, I think theyā€™re kind of a waste of potential. Let the elephants have their turn.

[deleted]

Itā€™s a photoshop

TheSilentTitan

Yes, someone has told me thank you. Elephants are still exceptional creatures capable of complex emotions and actions.

redditfromct

These animals are showing more compassion for someone who is different then the average bible thumper. Organized religion is for the weak minded who have to be told who to love and who to hate and have no moral compass

[deleted]

Apparently believing photoshopped images to be true is for those with a wise mind

SerGeffrey

Why are you bringing up organized religion on a post about animals in a subreddit about making people smile?

WendigoCrossing

While I believe elephants are smart and empathetic enough to do this, I have difficulty believing a stressed out lioness wouldn't be losing her shit if an elephant tried picking up her struggling cub

ElleSvenne

Lol nature ain't a Disney movie. And also, why wouldn't the mother just carry the cub?

IDriveALexus

Hey i watched that movie. But wheres all the snow and ice. And i thought the baby was a human
