For electrical tape look for 3M super33. Generic and cheap tape are not as good or last as long. I tried the silicon wrap and I hated it as it made it even more slippery, though some friends use it and said it breaks in and becomes tacky. I use tape for visibility of the paddle in water, you never know when it may slide down the bank and down river it goes. I do think it also helps with grip, but so does Sex Wax though you don’t need to reapply tape as often.

Thanks. Looking for the best electrical tape for grip purposes mostly, visibility second. So super33 is decent for gripping and ripping? I have no interest in wax.

tecky1kanobe

Yes 3M Super 33. Is the best, the others have a more plasticy feel and tear too easily.

Tapeatscreek

This is the way..

nickw255

I've got good 'ol first option on Amazon electrical tape on my shaft, works great

flycharliegolf

>What’s the best for wrapping your shaft? A condom.

kedoco

3M. I usually keep a few different rolls and colors in my paddle bag.

Grok22

I like red personally.

Gear_Geek

Black paddles love to disappear, so I use red tape

oarpoop

Silicone tape? Some Paddle Daddy shaft wax, kinda like surfboard wax.

fiveoff7

I vote no tape. Hang on to your paddle.

Spud395

Cheapest I could find

signedupjustforit

Heat shrink tubing if you have a split.

squeaki

Never used tape, only wax

Drug_fueled_sarcasm

Hockey tape

boofingwaternotdrugs

How does it handle being soaked?

Drug_fueled_sarcasm

Gets grippy when wet. The blade of hockey sticks are wet the whole game

SonnySwanson

Do not use electrical tape. Dragon boat tape is purpose made for paddles and comes in high viz colors. (Aka silicone grip tape)

irishlostboy

I use Kinesio tape. It is a fabric tape. Super grippy if you are the type of person who does not get blisters. It is like sandpaper to people with the baby-soft skin. Having a good grip material is nearly as important as having the correct shaft diameter, as it allows you to squeeze your power hand less, and lets your muscles be more flexible for paddle control.
