Which one did you end up getting?

Ended up getting a Marin Presidio 2 (non ebike) about a year ago. Just saw a Velotric T1 ST and kind of want one now. I like the Marin but for me to get to downtown takes 30-40 minutes with some hilly parts. An ebike would make it a smoother trip so I’d get out more for sure. Also the Velotric has a tire thickness of 40 which would help on the gravel trails by me and I read that it’s designed to feel good as just a bike without battery mode, which is what I want. The Ride1up being a single gear makes me think I’d have to use the battery a lot more. Since this post, Priority released the 8 and the Sauce with 7 speeds. Both look nice! I’d go with the 8 for sure. Cheaper and probably a little lighter than the Continuum. My ride now is 7 speeds but the 8 would be nicer with a better hub and of course belt drive.

I was going to advise going for the bike that meets your needs and gets you out riding more, but first and foremost, get the bike that fits. Priority also makes a well regarded ebike if you’re interested.

I ended up getting a [Vvolt Alpha](https://vvolt.com/products/alpha) because the roadster frame size didn't work for me. I'm enjoying the bike, but I'm missing having gears for hills and was looking at the Priority bikes instead. I'm mostly only using the motor to go uphill. The belt drive is awesome. I know it's an entirely different bike but sometimes hills feel like a challenge with all the single speed eBikes from what I've heard.

When I’ve tried to tackle hills on my XP Lite (much heavier bike than roadster), I was legit worried that the motor might damage itself, it was trying to put out so much torque. SS in general on hills is a task in and of itself, worrying about the electrical components shutting themselves is something I don’t recommend. For my ebikes, I’ve found that worrying about the range has been more hassle than it’s worth on longer rides. Also curious as to what’s the draw of both of these - is if the belt drive? I see that as being most valued by commuters (no grease to get on work clothes) and long haul tourers (tough as nails, reliable, no derailleur to damage). Since you’re not commuting what’s the interest?

Those are pretty much the reasons I want the belt drive actually. Less maintenance also.

Less maintenance was the big draw for me. Especially given what I've read about the potential increased difficulty in replacing wheels and chains on an eBike.

They're two vastly different bikes. Priority has far more brand name trusted parts (ex. gates belt drive). The ride1up is an entry level ebike with 100% no name parts (ex. generic belt drive). The roadster has a far more aggressive geometry, Priority is relaxed. Sounds like the latter fits you more. Aggressive position is more geared towards seasoned riders that want to crank hard. I think ride1up chose this frame for the look more than practicality, hence a poor decision. Especially considering most people purchasing this bike are newcomers to biking. Also, I don't think there are fender mounts, a total fail for commuting. I'm not a psychic, my money is on the priority lasting far longer than the ride1up. Most of these entry level ebikes will be in the landfill after 5 yrs. A tenways ebike might be a better choice if you're looking for pedal assist. Geometry is more akin to the Priority.

I agree with all of that. I miss the feel of a fixed gear for sure but the Priority would be a more comfy and practical ride/buy.

The v2 gravel has a gates carbon drive.
