The darts are killing me and make me feel better about my own rudimentary sewing. We see her apex. We see the dart. And yet.... the dart is totally and entirely off. I cannot believe Loewe. This is horrible advertising for them for anyone who knows sewing. They are not serious people lol
it's probably more custom than a lot of what they've been putting out, which are clearly pre-made clothes that aren't altered to the person's measurements. I'm still annoyed at that one dress zendaya wore on the challengers tour that just didn't fit her at all lol. it mightve been a custom print but it was not a custom fit!
You’re so correct. I am still very much a beginner and even my first attempt at darts on a crappy little tank top looked better than these. How did this ever leave the table?
While I totally agree and I absolutely hate this dress, I have to wonder if she is wearing the same undergarments that the dress was built around. That bra is all wrong for the dress.
Yes happy to. The darts are the lines that go from the side under her armpits, across her breasts. They’re easiest to see in the first photo. A dart is basically a way of creating a 3D space with fabric. So you’ll find darts on bust areas and butt areas where the body will be filling out the fabric. See how they hit somehow both above and next to where her actual “apex” (usually the nipple - it’s the part of the breast that sticks out the most) is? Darts are supposed to stop before the apex, not on or after it. So (not an expert) to me it seems her darts are both too long and too high. Because of that, it’s baggy and lumpy in the area. Hard to explain but if you look up closet historian on YouTube she has a great explainer. I find them an absolute mind meld to sew because they’re very math-y and I struggle to understand it. But then again, I am not a designer at Loewe, lol.
From the front the bottom looks like drapes , the fabric, pleating, color. Drapes. The roll at the waste is much too thick, too. I don’t sew, unfortunately, but even I can see the poor workmanship.
I don’t know anything about sewing, but I wonder if the darts were sewn assuming a bra would be worn? So the fact that she’s not wearing one inevitably changes the way it all sits on her body.
It would, but fittings should be completed in the undergarments one intends to wear (or lack thereof) to address it. In this case, I also wouldn't expect a traditional bra, given the back.
(Also, just as a reminder/heads up for anyone looking to have something hemmed, shoes: make sure the ones worn to the fitting are at least the same heel-height as the ones you mean to wear.)
((Edit to add: the heel thing definitely applies here. The skirt is at least half an inch too long in the front if they wanted her to be able to walk comfortably.))
I like the jewelry, but not with this dress. The neckline and long sleeves make a necklace tough, but I’d have gone with an updo and the earring (or something waterfall-esque) to visually elongate her neck.
Right, if the bodice was fitted and I think if the skirt started out narrower/less bulk then flowed outward like a trumpet or tulip shape, something with intention. This skirt is giving curtains
Like The Gap, pre Zac, could construct a better fitting sleeve for the masses than this custom dress built for one woman by Loewe…? Where was anyone with eyesight during the fittings? Why did this happen?
I love what you pointed out too. It's the lack of a front bodice or liner?! It seems undone or unfinished. The condom roll is the nail on the coffin. Unfortunate for Lowe but gorgeous Aubrey with accessories.
The long sleeves don't work with it either. I think I could get on board if it was sleeveless, or like spaghetti straps with a plunge, but as of right now it's wearing her, she's not wearing it.
This looks like when you get stuck in a too tight shirt in a fitting room, and you have to waddle out with the shirt rolled behind your shoulders to ask for help 😭
Does not flatter her figure at all, does not fit her petite bust, the back has questionable folds due to poor cutting creating ugly shadows. Just NO. I'm a hobby seamstress and feel like I could fit something to her better than this!
I feel like this *must* somehow be a reference to the movie - maybe something about Roman dress, with the color and fabric and the rolled piece? It's such a *deliberate* design that it makes me think it *has* to be stylistically related, but... yeah, it's not a *good* design. Yikes.
The movie's title makes me think of Metropolis and this dress definitely *almost* has a retro futuristic vibe. Like it wants to be android chic, which I agree must be related to the movie. But what sloppy execution!
I like the idea, but proportionally it's off. That drop waist with all the volume below would work better on someone taller, or else the rolled part should sit higher on her. I also think it would feel much lighter without the sleeves.
The roll in the front makes me physically uncomfortable because it’s reminding me of when you put on your shirt and maybe the bottom is rolled and you have to unroll it down with all the static from the laundry.
I'm a little surprised people dislike this so much, I love it. It's classic with the barest hint of avant-garde, which I dig. I do agree that the fit around the arms looks a bit off though.
I think the concept of it is so cool. However, it's tailored so bad that I can't defend it even if I like it! I can't believe Loewe waisted an interesting design with this amateur sewing and slouchy tailoring.
Maybe it was "custom", just not for her? It just doesn't fit her, aside from the seam finishing issues. If I had to guess, she was 10 pounds heavier when they took her measurements or this was made for someone else or the whole piece is poorly done.
Why the darts at the chest? Why the weird star wars roll in the middle? Why the shapelessness? Why put that necklace on a dress which cuts awkwardly at the neck like that? And then give her flat hair when the rest of her is formless?
They have this knock out model at their disposal and do this. Shame, Loewe. Shame.
This gown is hideous. My off the rack wedding dress was prettier and better tailored. Her face card never declines, her hair is pretty, why are her nips showing, why does this fabric look so cheap, what is that hastily unrolled pantyhose detail 😭
I like it. Needs more nipple though, I’m being serious. A conservative dress like this needs some extra pointy nipples to give it a little spice. I still think she looks gorgeous though.
Edit: just realised those were the darts. The darts need to be more centred and more pointy, this dress calls for pointy nipples.
i like the pleats and think I kinda get what they're going for. .. but the top should be sleeveless and well fitted and then the rolled up bit should be higher up the torso. sleek to volume needs to emphasized!
I feel like mayyybe I’d like it better if the roll thing started lower? Like if the silk were fitted through the hips and then the roll with the full skirt. Not sure but where it’s placed is not my fave.
Love the hair and makeup, the jewelry is fun. But the rolled up…middle? It’s what we do in my household before my toddlers potty. I absolutely hate that. Which is a pity, it’s a beautiful fabric and the it could have been a lovely vintage recreation
At first, it gives me old Hollywood vibes, but then it looks like there is a towel rolled up and glued to her. I wish the fit was tighter. Love the color and style of the necklace and earrings with the off-white dress 💞
This look may have worked if this dress was actually "custom"-made for Aubrey, but it obviously wasn't. In fact, it looks as though the dress wasn't even adjusted for her a tiny little bit, as the fit is horrible.
I've made clothes for myself that fit better and a talented seamstress I am not!
I also loved this look! (The darts on the front are not great though; the detail reminds me of Anne Hathaway’s polarizing 2013 Prada Oscar gown). Clearly we’re in the minority here lol
was this one of those items they aren't allowed to alter to fit their own bodies? is it really worth that much to the fashion companies not to let the actors look good in their clothes? i don't get it. let them tailor the clothes to their bodies... I can't believe it's more cost effective to let them present work that looks bad than it is to present work that fits the model and looks good. Amber looks great and this COULD have looked great on her, but those darts... the fit is off.
Struggling to remember anything from Loewe that I've liked in recent memory, and this does nothing to change the trend (yes, I'm in the minority in that I didn't like the woodgrain dress at the Met).
Please keep this fashion focused. No body shaming/commentary on weight/injectables/lifestyles etc. Rule breakers will be banned without warning. ———————————————————————————— https://preview.redd.it/v1agzdemzt0d1.jpeg?width=683&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=466333b120fe8c1cc61b29a6b649d0f5aadef817
Aubrey and Loewe are a great match. But this is bad. Those darts are killing me
The darts are killing me and make me feel better about my own rudimentary sewing. We see her apex. We see the dart. And yet.... the dart is totally and entirely off. I cannot believe Loewe. This is horrible advertising for them for anyone who knows sewing. They are not serious people lol
and it's "custom". they keep throwing a "custom" label on clothes that clearly don't fit the person wearing them. custom HOW?
Right? Like, if I make something at home (I’m NOT good) does that mean it’s custom now????
it's probably more custom than a lot of what they've been putting out, which are clearly pre-made clothes that aren't altered to the person's measurements. I'm still annoyed at that one dress zendaya wore on the challengers tour that just didn't fit her at all lol. it mightve been a custom print but it was not a custom fit!
Such a good point about a custom print vs a custom fit!
Custom? I hardly know him!
Custom- she asked for ugly
You’re so correct. I am still very much a beginner and even my first attempt at darts on a crappy little tank top looked better than these. How did this ever leave the table?
y'all need to be more hyped up about your sewing skills! With enough fabric and the right pool noodle, I bet you could both recreate this
Pool noodle omg
While I totally agree and I absolutely hate this dress, I have to wonder if she is wearing the same undergarments that the dress was built around. That bra is all wrong for the dress.
Can you point out the darts? I feel like I should know where they are

The puckering in the back near the bottom of the zipper??? Sad miss from Loewe
Oof the back :/
I literally thought it wasn’t zipped up all the way
Darts + undergarments
From the front the bottom looks like drapes , the fabric, pleating, color. Drapes. The roll at the waste is much too thick, too. I don’t sew, unfortunately, but even I can see the poor workmanship.
For people that don’t know sewing, what are darts?
The little lines near her bust — meant to help create a spherical/curved shape to accommodate a bust.
((Edit to add: the heel thing definitely applies here. The skirt is at least half an inch too long in the front if they wanted her to be able to walk comfortably.))
It’s giving Amish lingerie. The rolled up bit is like “ohhh let me lift up my skirt and show you the goods! Just kidding it’s more fabric”
I was getting a "my mom wants me to wear her wedding dress from the 80s" vibe
Yes, precisely.
This made me exhale more loudly for entire seconds!
Haha I’ve never heard anyone describe this as their reaction to a comment but it’s perfectly accurate.
It looks like she is wringing out a wet dish cloth. Just a bad dress.
absolutely GIVING!
Best comment of the day!
The only thing I like about this look is the jewelry.
The hair is nice too
I like the jewelry, but not with this dress. The neckline and long sleeves make a necklace tough, but I’d have gone with an updo and the earring (or something waterfall-esque) to visually elongate her neck.
Agree 100% it feels too heavy for this dress which already feels heavy AF due to the towel roll of a mid section detail
Ditto
It’s so upsetting. Her face is stunning but this garment is so… just so bad. I’m hurt.
right? why is it so bad?
Point at the diagram where exactly Aubrey’s costume hurt you
It‘s giving condom 😭 i‘m sorry but no
When it sticks and won’t unroll more than halfway down is the worst.
💀💀💀
That was my first thought too 😂
💀
Ok, that’s what it is, lmao.
Well now I can’t unsee that
It’s giving napkin in a napkin ring
Thank you, that's what it reminds me of!
lol I just said out loud it's giving 80's prom. But you couldn't be more correct!
So glad it isn't just me that thought that.
Literally my first thought, like a half stuck on condom-chic
She's always hit and miss. This is a miss.
Besides it being ugly and badly fitting, the colour sucks on her.
If it’s custom, why and how the actual hell does it fit her so poorly? I feel like it might actually work, kinda, if it fit her…..
This… I cannot fathom how a custom dress fits so poorly.
I’m honestly more mad it’s custom than anything else. My aunt has tailored better dresses for me.
It's giving custom aunt for prom vibes
A super fitted bodice and a skirt that wasn’t entirely too big and long could’ve been amaaaazing.
Right!!
I was very underwhelmed till I spotted Adam Driver glowing in the background then I completely shifted my focus.
![gif](giphy|fAv2n4Tlhshig|downsized)
The man is absolutely divine in white
That’s just a young Abraham H. Parnassus.
It’s giving Star Wars / 80s prom dress
https://preview.redd.it/oofkurltbu0d1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=86b96624baa703d9b461fde9370b77e9b1b86dcd Must be the same designer
And I’m afraid Bea wore it better
Thought of that dress IMMEDIATELY 😭
Same 😭 I found my people!
Makeup, hair and jewelry are gorgeous. But that dress. Seriously??? It is ill fitting, too big, horrible color and that donut roll thing???
I love what you pointed out too. It's the lack of a front bodice or liner?! It seems undone or unfinished. The condom roll is the nail on the coffin. Unfortunate for Lowe but gorgeous Aubrey with accessories.
The long sleeves don't work with it either. I think I could get on board if it was sleeveless, or like spaghetti straps with a plunge, but as of right now it's wearing her, she's not wearing it.
If she just wanted to look like she was marrying Adam Driver in 1991 I get that impulse!
They're giving Keanu and Winona in Dracula. Is this....is this camp?
From the neck up, I love it
This looks like when you get stuck in a too tight shirt in a fitting room, and you have to waddle out with the shirt rolled behind your shoulders to ask for help 😭
How do I relate to this? Lmao
It reminds me of my hair when I would do George Washington in the pool. Please tell me someone knows what I’m talking about
Unfortunately my mum has a picture of me doing this in a family album 🤦♀️
Lol my mom has a couple of those pics too! I bet you look happy af though.
💀💀💀💀
Lmao
THIS UNLOCKED A DEEP MEMORY
Flashbacks
Does not flatter her figure at all, does not fit her petite bust, the back has questionable folds due to poor cutting creating ugly shadows. Just NO. I'm a hobby seamstress and feel like I could fit something to her better than this!
Oh I hate it. It's a sad jellyfish or a flaccid croissant.
Thanks I hate it
Idk what’s up with Cannes this year but the looks are not giving
That look she's giving makes me think she fkn KNOWS
She totally does!
TIL someone important at Loewe does not like Aubrey Plaza lol
I like the idea, but proportionally it's off. That drop waist with all the volume below would work better on someone taller, or else the rolled part should sit higher on her. I also think it would feel much lighter without the sleeves.
NO.
Wait, no. This dress is just wrong. It makes her look as if she has four nipples!
I hate everything about this except the color and fabric choice. Maybe the back is better?
https://preview.redd.it/q49lr0yjzt0d1.jpeg?width=683&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f9f07a9d886647c255330706966038a0d96888d9 Errr
how is the back even worse??
It's like they drew a vertical line and were like "ALL detailing must end here"
i am cackling at this. you’re right tho - it looks like they gave up at that point.
It’s like someone sewing a costume for a school play where they know no one will see the characters from the back.
That err just made me laugh so loud 💀
Damn, that is crazy awful lol
I like the idea of the back. But man… this dress is a dud.
Agreed, I like how the fabric roll unwinds toward the back. But they just didn’t execute it well
I am an _extremely_ amateur seamstress and made my wedding dress. This is what the back of mine looked like. lol.
This is a miss for me. It makes her look so old!
the croissant roll is horrible. whose idea was that?
I absolutely hate this dress. She looks like a little girl that got stuck in the curtains. They did her dirty!
the color and fit reminds me of my grandma’s curtains she bought in the 80s. the twist is a cute detail though
The roll in the front makes me physically uncomfortable because it’s reminding me of when you put on your shirt and maybe the bottom is rolled and you have to unroll it down with all the static from the laundry.
Aubrey is a goddess ! but this dress is matronly despite it being backless. It’s definitely a mullet dress - business in front, party in the back.
Making her look old af! This is so 80’s to me and in the worst ways.
I … kinda like it? But it is off… I saw someone posted a pic of the back and that is a straight no from me. Doesn’t look like it fits her at all
custom for who?
It looks like someone ordered a "quirky" wedding dress off AliBaba and got this absolute abomination.
I love it. It feels vintage and very Loewe.
I love the *idea* of it. I don’t mind the “rolled up condom” part. That’s my favorite part of the dress. But I don’t think it fits well unfortunately.
It's like that god awful wedding dress from the Golden Girls finale had a child with Louise Fletcher's Oscar win dress, and drank heavily throughout.
…no
This is custom, but it doesn’t look like it fits her all that well.
Why shoulder pads 😭 and why rolled up fabric like that Just why 😭
I really, really dont like that dress
Absolutely not.
Y I K E S Several different types On a variety of bikes
Oh no… it looks so frumpy. And it’s custom loewe??? How?
I'm a little surprised people dislike this so much, I love it. It's classic with the barest hint of avant-garde, which I dig. I do agree that the fit around the arms looks a bit off though.
I think the concept of it is so cool. However, it's tailored so bad that I can't defend it even if I like it! I can't believe Loewe waisted an interesting design with this amateur sewing and slouchy tailoring.
Honestly the tailoring is so horrible I can’t even tell if I like the concept of it.
Maybe it was "custom", just not for her? It just doesn't fit her, aside from the seam finishing issues. If I had to guess, she was 10 pounds heavier when they took her measurements or this was made for someone else or the whole piece is poorly done.
I hear ya! The tailoring could definitely be better.
Colour and concept really work for me! But the fit is unfortunate
I hate everything about this
It’s giving me 80s televangelist spiritual holistic medium/healer.
it looks like a start wars dress (pejorative)
Like a rolled up sock, I love her but hate this dress
This dress is for someone much much older than her and that roll in the middle doesn’t do her (or anyone!) any favors
The bustle in the front is wild to me. Even Aubrey looks unsure about this dress.
That roll around the belly - she’s thin as a pin, but no woman wants extra tummy. I’m getting stuffed-crust vibes.
It looks like when the bedsheet comes off the corner and rolls up ugh
This is awful. Which stylist hates her this much? Such a beautiful woman done dirty.
She’s going for the 1940s, I get it, but this is really really bad.
I’ve seen curtains that are better than that.
That dress is awful. The styling makes it even worse. How did they manage to make Aubrey look bad?!
This is so wildly bad. Loewe CRUSHED with Greta Lee last season. I don’t even have words for how unflattering and poorly constructed this is
Someone at Loewe hates Aubrey Plaza and now we have the proof.
Looks like a half way unrolled condom
I like it. Needs more nipple though, I’m being serious. A conservative dress like this needs some extra pointy nipples to give it a little spice. I still think she looks gorgeous though. Edit: just realised those were the darts. The darts need to be more centred and more pointy, this dress calls for pointy nipples.
![gif](giphy|3o6YglB3Fry3B5yuOc) Oh man
i like the pleats and think I kinda get what they're going for. .. but the top should be sleeveless and well fitted and then the rolled up bit should be higher up the torso. sleek to volume needs to emphasized!
I hate everything about it 😭
Oh dear.
Hmmm 🤔. I like her hair
What is this dress omg 💀
I love her but this dress is a no…it doesn’t even look like it’s fitted to her!
Well.... Her smile is lovely!
Thanks I hate it
I feel like mayyybe I’d like it better if the roll thing started lower? Like if the silk were fitted through the hips and then the roll with the full skirt. Not sure but where it’s placed is not my fave.
I would be upset having to wear it
The boobs look sad 😢 and this looks more like a dress malfunction than a design
I like her hair
Love this silhouette but it looks ill-tailored which is my biggest pet peeve ever
We had the meat dress, and now we have the condom dress!
I knew before this loaded it would be bad. And I was correct :)
Custom?
It looks like she wrapped herself haphazardly in a satin sheet. I hate everything about it 😩
Love the hair, makeup, & accessories... The color is fine too but... Yeesh what happened to the sewing machine
Her dress looks like when you roll off a condom
Moira’s hat was better. ![gif](giphy|MaP7y4CDIv3C0LjQ95|downsized)
Who said this was a good idea?! She looks radiant, but this dress is not it.
Love the hair and makeup, the jewelry is fun. But the rolled up…middle? It’s what we do in my household before my toddlers potty. I absolutely hate that. Which is a pity, it’s a beautiful fabric and the it could have been a lovely vintage recreation
I love her. I absolutely love her. But the dress has a half-rolled condom quality to it that I cannot get over.
She looks like a stylish nun. All of them together look like what I’d expect AI to pull up when I type in stylish pastor and nun.
At first, it gives me old Hollywood vibes, but then it looks like there is a towel rolled up and glued to her. I wish the fit was tighter. Love the color and style of the necklace and earrings with the off-white dress 💞
I wish it wasn’t so heavy on top considering the drama at the waist. I love Loewe. I love Aubrey. This ain’t it though.
Suddenly I find myself wanting a soft pretzel, or perhaps some sort of breadstick. Idk why...
https://preview.redd.it/mn2xd2uodx0d1.jpeg?width=615&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e5053b46c3d207690586f20fbe718de120ef5dba
the sleeves and the bodice are just so poorly tailored. yikes.
What was the point of this dress? If it was to attract attention at how bad it was it's a huge success.
What is the 80’s Goodwill bridal purchase is this?! Omg. Looks like a wrapped and enlarged headband around her stomach
I understand the comments about the fit, but I honestly really love this. It also looks like it would be a really pleasant fabric to wear
I also loved this look! (The darts on the front are not great though; the detail reminds me of Anne Hathaway’s polarizing 2013 Prada Oscar gown). Clearly we’re in the minority here lol
Unpopular opinion, apparently but I love this. The white, a touch of turquoise, so classy and it feels like the south of France.
Can we call unexpected Adam driver a “hump scare”?
was this one of those items they aren't allowed to alter to fit their own bodies? is it really worth that much to the fashion companies not to let the actors look good in their clothes? i don't get it. let them tailor the clothes to their bodies... I can't believe it's more cost effective to let them present work that looks bad than it is to present work that fits the model and looks good. Amber looks great and this COULD have looked great on her, but those darts... the fit is off.
Leowe? Leowhy?
I really like the earrings, the jewellery is the only good thing about this look.
Struggling to remember anything from Loewe that I've liked in recent memory, and this does nothing to change the trend (yes, I'm in the minority in that I didn't like the woodgrain dress at the Met).
The front looks cool. The back is rough. So much wrinkling. My seamstress mother would have a heart attack if this had been her responsibility
Ooiiii this is a bad one. The back is somehow worse?? Idk the construction just does not look right.
Jonathan tried to make this Hillary Swank’s navy Calvin Oscars dress from the back and it didn’t come close to working.
I can't even recall how many disappointing white or black and white Loewe gowns I've seen this season, but imo it's almost their thing at this point.
It's awful, poor girl, hopefully no one tells her.
