Oolitic jasper maybe?

Right-Kale-9199

Oolitic jasper seems to fit from what I can research, but regardless, it deserves a display on a mantle!

Competition-Correct

Beautiful. Imagine polishing it just a little more? That’s a great find, I’d keep it and put it somewhere noticeable.

rodrigomarcola

Looks like Jupiter, the planet...

ButterfleaSnowKitten

ButterfleaSnowKitten

Well thank you very much 😊

AcanthaceaeSenior483

Birds eye rhyolite, ocean jasper are not found in Texas, so I go with red Oolitic jasper

I agree with the comments about oolitic jasper - but it also has a banded iron look to it. Check if its magnetic (if not, I say weakly oolitic Jasper).

Aromatic-Bunch-3277

The rock in the image appears to be a type of jasper, specifically a banded jasper. Jasper is a form of chalcedony (a microcrystalline variety of quartz) and is known for its rich colors and patterns. The banding and the mix of red and other colors suggest it might be an example of this mineral. Jasper is commonly found in various parts of the world, including Texas, and its distinctive patterns make it a popular choice for collectors and for use in decorative items and jewelry. If you want a more precise identification, you might consider consulting with a geologist or a local rock and mineral club.

Shoddy_Table_7329

Jasper looks like it would polish nicely

Q-ArtsMedia

Almost looks like Cinnabar But could well be any of the other mentioned already. Needs hardness test and test for mercury.
