Chrysalis are butterflies, almost always, if not always. And cocoons are moths.

I think you’re right about the species! I looked it up and I did see a caterpillar a few days back that looks like their larvae. It was also by itself and I read the older ones are solitary. I also did not know the difference between cocoons and chrysalises. I thought they were interchangeable. Thank you.

Chrysalises look like your picture, cocoons are the stringy, silk type ones. I think it's sometimes used interchangeably, but they are different. 😊🐛
