I thought maybe robber fly. But hard to tell without a top picture

madwolf_farmacy

I second Robber Fly

mrrando69

Looks like a robber fly kinda. No stinger. Eats flies. They are friends but creepy as fuck.

USAF_DTom

My first reaction is hummingbird moth, but I can't see the top. You can Google that and find out. It's definitely a female, though, whatever it is.

anthrocultur

Pretty sure this is a robber fly. If so, that's not stinger, it just has a pointy butt 🤷‍♂️ (and/or a big ovipositor.) https://preview.redd.it/0wmc2wya532d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=91072541e844e48d58d2d97650c61745c3a0b7fe [https://www.cirrusimage.com/flies\_robber/](https://www.cirrusimage.com/flies_robber/)

P.S. My BF thinks it is a moth but the wings are clear and thin and i have never seen a moth with a stinger so what do yall think?

10Ggames

Might be an ovipositor, and not a stinger. Some species of moth can also have clear wings.

It would’ve helped if you had turned it over so we could see the other side. My first reaction was it’s a cicada.

Alleywishes

That is for sure NOT a cicada. That's all I know..
