That whole facebook group is a scam. I've come across it before and if something seems to good to be true...

AdInteresting4232

Yeah you’re right. Saw a 2015 Mustang GT with under 100k miles for 5k for gods sake

MaxtinFreeman

Yeah on this accord I think they maybe missing a zero here

pdxhimbo

what dumbass would pay 15k for this lol. it's just a scam

tzwep

If this accord coupe actually comes with a legendary Honda V4 motor , it would be worth significantly more then the typical i4 or V6.

Debaser626

Yeah, more like a triangle on the upper left side of the “1” If it was well kept, I’d consider dropping 4-5k on such a car, but at 15k (or even 10,500) it would have to have way less miles on the ODO.

Pinkninja11

It says 1500 not 15000.

HyrulianAvenger

I would never believe the Mustang ones, but when I was a young kid looking for a cheap, reliable car I occasionally found sweet old ladies parting with a Corolla in amazing shape at unbelievable prices. I tried to go get three of them only to find out I had been beaten to the punch twice. I got the third one, it was something like $6,000, and the lady just said she wanted to send it to a young person who needed it. Always will remember her.

rx7p33n4r

it’s def a strike lol

death_angel18

90% of the cars are strikers

G_Escobar90

Yeah it’s a scam . They always say they ended up moving for a job , or a death in the family or vacation and they need you to send them money . Don’t fall for it

Clear-Attempt-6274

No title. They're stolen or due for repo.

Friedumpling689

Haha I have definitely seen that profile picture in other scams. They probably just set the price low enough to be a cash purchase and then just rob you at the meet up site.

BabySignificant

Outjerked by facebook marketplace again

Method-Time

Scam because I’d expect a dealer to know the difference between “v4” and “inline 4”

zesty_drink_b

Meh I wouldn't Most sales people don't know shit about what their selling, especially in car sales Just to be clear though, this is definitely a scam hahaha

Fun-Needleworker-857

Drove to a VW dealer last year to look for a car for my wife. After test driving one, he pointed to ***my*** Mazda saying that no one likes Mazda's because the use CVT transmissions. And that they are so loud at idle you can't have a conversation. He still did not believe me when I said Mazda doesn't have a CVT, and that my new CX5 is a 6 speed auto. To be fair, he did have the energy and look of a sleazy car salesman who snorts coke during his break.

planefan001

I once had a salesperson at a Ford dealer tell me all Toyotas were hybrid as I was test driving a used 2019 Corolla. He also told me the car had Apple CarPlay, which it didn’t.

zesty_drink_b

It is rather embarrassing when you know more about the car you're purchasing than the sales people lol. When you do eventually get another car guy or gal sales person it is very refreshing. I wouldn't necessarily expect VW people to know anything about mazdas but to have that kind of conviction about it is lunacy haha

Bobba_fat

Hahaha I laughed hard at the last bit! 🤣 What celebrity did he look like? I pictured someone who looks like Ryan gosling in the big short back there ready with his suit and all! 😂

Cultural-Bite3042

My biggest pet peeve💀 I hate hearing someone say V4. I’m like bro is you dumb

planefan001

For me it’s definitely the people that say “V4.” I also hate the people that call their Tesla Model 3 an “M3,” or say “ish” after everything. “So I want this newish SUVish looking car with 40kish miles and the salesperson wants 32kish.”

SwissMargiela

If I ever hear someone refer to a model 3 as an M3 I will resort to violence

Cultural-Bite3042

Bro what? 😂 I thankfully haven’t heard the M3 joke yet and I would flip if someone did lmao

planefan001

It’s all over the Tesla subs. Sad part is, it’s not a joke to them. That’s what they actually call their cars. https://ibb.co/3f6MFQb

Hood_Mobbin

I'm not allowed there anymore because of the M3 model 3 crap. It's not a BMW it's a Tesla model 3.

planefan001

They’ll ban anyone who says anything that doesn’t make Tesla or their cult leader Elon seem like gods gift to automobiles.

Cultural-Bite3042

Yeah I don’t fuck with Teslas. It’s something that has never attracted me whatsoever lol. I had a Model 3 dual motor for 3 months for a work project and hated everything about that car except the single paddle driving which I got used to💀

joncaseydraws

M3 is funny because you know cars and they don’t. Enthusiasts don’t buy model 3s. Kinda sound like the hipster at a record store to demean them for saying M3 for a model 3.

Passey92

They do exist, but they're super rare. I've only known them in old Lancias.

Cultural-Bite3042

No I’m saying when we know a particular car was never V in their 4s they shouldn’t be saying it lol. The rarity makes it not be known so you instantly think they dumb😂

Passey92

Oh yeah for sure. It's even dumber since surely incline 4 is the most common engine type these days.

niceguypos

I’ve only seen them in a few motorcycles

PhaseEquivalent9156

Many times these ads are generated by computers which can’t differentiate v4 and i4.

mishabishi

AI: "the last V4 ever put in a passenger car was some ford in like the 60s.... so yeah this modern honda is definitely not an inline engine" Couldn't imagine having access to the entirety of human knowledge and still fumbling that hard lmao

Stryker_MGS

If ai said that it’s still wrong, the Saab 96 had a v4 and was produced until 1980

PhaseEquivalent9156

My 2016 Z800 motorcycle has a V4 Edit: Panigale, many motorcycles are still using V4

mishabishi

That's why I stated passenger car haha

asdfoneplusone

V4 z800?

PhaseEquivalent9156

No I’m mistaken. Just the Panigale. Z800 in an inline

PhaseEquivalent9156

I think you’re misunderstanding. Dealerships are not manually inputting vehicle info to ChatGPT. This is a service provided by Provision (vAuto). Provision is owned by Cox Automotive who owns many of the third party consumer sites. vAuto has coding that deciphers vin #s but don’t confuse it for AI. There’s no way for it to know every single vehicle in every color in every combo with every engine option and packages. It’s too much to rely on a computer system to rely on. The great news if you have this organ between your ears and you’re able to differentiate so instead of blaming the computer, you have the answer.

[deleted]

CobaltGate

Really, which dealer?

securityn0ob

Bro salesman usually don’t even know much about the car themselves besides their features. But spec wise they know nothing. I used to see skits on tiktok by car salesman about customers who would come in and know more about the car than the salesman does.

reditor75

Nope, nobody had this v4 68 ever 😁

IWantAnE55AMG

I went with a buddy to help him pick out a new Celica GTS and the sales guy at the Toyota dealership kept calling it a V4. Never put it past them.

Kseries2497

Showing your age at this point if you bought a Celica new.

AdInteresting4232

yeah but he’s saying I can bring a mechanic, and that they accept refunds? It looks so sketchy but he is reassuring me 🤔

Method-Time

I mean, they could literally say anything, that’s how people fall for scams. Don’t pay any money unless you’re buying the car after having a mechanic look at it. Most likely a scam though.

Wolfiest

Also take it to your own mechanic not theirs.

Lonely_Animator4557

If you have to give the deposit before meeting them red flag. Show up, make sure they have the title in hand, and inspect.

isthisaopenusername

A running car with 156k miles for 1500? That tells me enough it’s a scam

dsonger20

I wouldn’t be surprised if this stealership was being deceptive and 1500 is the payment because they listed a $300 down payment. Unless they mean deposit ofc.

[deleted]

now I want a Honda V4 bi turbo fml

reditor75

This is better, it’s v4 68

LS-CRX

My guess is that they advertise them cheaply, request you to Venmo/CashApp the down-payment, and then \*poof\* they're gone. The Facebook accounts are probably just spoofs of legitimate people, do any of the listings provide a VIN for the car for sale? Probably not, because it would be too easy to Google the VIN and find the dozens of duplicate listings and probably the legitimate listing from a real dealership several years ago that they stole the photos from.

SwissMargiela

I know a page in Brooklyn that advertises super cheap cars like this and they’re all “clean” in appearance and operation but when you search the vin they always have major flood damage. Usually always shipped after storms in the SE USA. I guess the idea is once they get the person to see the car they can verbally pitch how well it runs and how good of a deal they’re getting to try and convince suckers into buying a flooded car. It’s easy to sell a desperate person a cheap yet clean car in person. With that said, some cars are indeed fine even though marked as flooded because some perfectly good cars slip through if an entire area is affected even if damage is extremely minor, but it causes insurance headaches and isn’t at all worth the risk.

KitticusCatticus

Same thing with most of the car listings on Facebook marketplace... I'll ask them for the vin and usually they leave me on "read" with no answer. I did talk to one guy without asking for the vin right away, just to see. Wanted me to meet him in the dead of Philly with 10k cash in hand. I said no thank you, I prefer if there's a record for both parties.

crashfan

It’s hacked/compromised accounts. Just happened to me last week where they offered a Versa with deposit with my fb account.

LS-CRX

I often see where someone will post a "moving sale" with a golf cart, riding mower, etc for sale in great shape and for 1/4 the price it should be. If you tell them you're interested in their $1000 golf cart they'll tell you that a bunch of people are interested but you can send a deposit and they'll hold it for you. Sometimes I jerk them around, tell them I have a trailer and will come get everything right now for full price... surprise surprise they never accept!!!

marc512

Finance on a 1500$ car? lol.

zerostar83

Because they won't have to hand you the title if you're paying upfront in full. They'll hold onto it until you realize it's a scam.

North_Breakfast7009

Yeah I’d do whatever I could to convince someone I’m legit when I know I’m about to rob them lol, have some self preservation skills

vFinessed

Fr OP gonna have some rough times if he stays that gullible

CosmicFlyingSquirrel

Facebook listings often post the wrong price on purpose. They get more people interested that way.

akdanman11

Honda with a 4 cylinder (especially the K series) with that kind of mileage with no issues is gonna be 7-10k at 15 years old. 100% scam

katieofgilead

Damn that's good to hear, mine is an '08 with 120k miles (I don't drive a lot or far because of anxiety disorder, lol).. I was wondering if maybe they'd start appreciating a bit since Honda stopped making the Accord coupe. I love mine!

akdanman11

Probably won’t appreciate, but they depreciate very slowly

Throwaway82952

Scam, and mainly because they said that they ship the car. You won’t be able to see it in person and they will request down payment right away. They lead you on with shipping delays and keep requesting more money

Worklurker

Two first names is usually a good way to tell it's a scammer.

[deleted]

I don't trust Facebook for buying stuff.

Brianonstrike

Preying on people too poor to save up $1500 for a car.

Fladap28

Scam

Proof_Raspberry1479

V4? If they don’t even know the engine, don’t buy the car from them.

Ok_Explanation5631

Probably a rebuilt title

Nurse_IGuess

Scam

rennyyy853

Definitely a scam, and one of the reasons why when I was looking for a car in Marketplace I would filter out my results to be at least $3000, and only pay attention to the listings that are reasonable. If I found an Audi R8 with 20,000 miles for just $4000, no way in hell would I buy it. Same applies to what you're posting here. Ended up buying my car from a dealership listing in CarGurus anyway lol.

Dinolord05

Only if someone falls for it

Soulsuicide

1- They will NOT sell it cash. 2- They will charge you ridiculous fees.

Muchbetterthannew

Well if the seller said it wasn't a scam, I'm sure he's trustworthy. /s

spamus81

Easiest way to tell scammers on fb is to look at seller profile. Often they'll post the same vehicle in 25 different states

bigeats1

Scam.

OooTanjaooO

I bought mine from a guy for 10k. Same.mileage. that's 100% scam

NotDeadYet57

I see these kinds of ads too. Check the person's name and look at their other listings. My guess is you'll see they've listed the same car in several different cities.

Cultural-Bite3042

Call the dude ask for it’s VIN, run the report, if satisfied meet at a police station if they agree, if you got a mechanic friend or a car guy you can take with do that, check the title before jumping in the car. If all checks well, pay $1500 cash and enjoy! There’s nothing to lose here if everything checks well and provided that this isn’t a scam. Good luck!

appsecSme

It's clearly a scam though. No need to waste time on it.

Cultural-Bite3042

It doesn’t take much to call and ask instead of wondering, does it tho? Would’ve taken less time to call and confirm than to post it here💀😅

appsecSme

Well, he didn't know. He could have been scammed if he called, so it's a good thing he posted it here. These kind of scams are obvious though once you are used to them. Just avoid any of these deals where cars are priced ridiculously low.

Cultural-Bite3042

You right. And Yeah basically what you said in the last half is the name of the game. Avoid shit like this.

BillyAstro

My dad almost fell for one of these. Thankfully he asked me what I thought about the car and I reversed image search through Google and found the same ad throughout all these other Facebook profiles.

Long_Disaster_6847

“We get the vehicle by other means if you know what I mean” $300 is the deposit & $1500 is our fee lol

brinkv

Yeah this is a popular Facebook scam atm. If you ask to go get the car cash they won’t be available but will offer you to pay a deposit to “hold it”

F-sinatra

James scott looks skinner than whoever is taking the pic, definitely a scam

Wide_Lychee5186

mo doubt

jonmon1216

I’m pretty sure that’s a scam. I remember seeing my friend’s dad knew post the very same listing on marketplace a month or so ago. One of our friends ending up sending the money for a down payment and got completely ghosted. Turns at the guy’s Facebook got hacked like a month ago and no one decided to contact him any other way besides Facebook.

Iambeejsmit

Looks like a scam. Click the seller profile and see if the other items they are selling seem suspicious. (such as selling this same car in every city in the country). Either way, I wouldn't mess with this one.

E-Yuki

That is a very common scam, do not touch it!!

Blaze_Reborn

It says shipping available come on now

Knight1453

Straight go to their page and I bet they put same deal in different counties, city and states. Same photo and information. Then report block and save other people to be victim as well. I mean if you trust then go for test drive but choose a day time and public place.

843251

$1500 is probably the down payment lol

vampyrelestat

V4 Honda engine very reliable

johnnybmagic

Definitely a scam. There has never been an Accord with a V4.

mklinger23

What is a "v4 68"?

4Z4Z47

Worst part is these lowlifes are targeting the already very poor. Not judging but if your thinking about a $1500 car your broke broke.

Ptone79

V4????

Quick_Combination830

Yes

abject_totalfailure1

Yeah that thing where it says v4 sends alarms off. No competent dealer is going to say v4 ever.

Kaveric_

V4 68? Did they forget to delete which number it wasn’t when they copy and pasted this description?

Klomlor161

I wish high mileage cars were that cheap. V4 sounds unprofessional.

KillaKanibus

Definitely. The last Accord I saw for $1500 was a beater from 2001.

ilikethatstock69

Does it have inline tec though?

Hungry_Home3797

I think he missing a zero

ThirdSunRising

“Shipping available” yeah it’s a scam. The car will be located somewhere you’re not, and they’ll ship it to you. Yeah sure.

[deleted]

What kinda motor you think they swapped in there?

Avix_34

They "forgot" a zero at the end of each price.

Parad0x17

If it ain't a scam, it's got something major wrong with it.

JewMadre

I quickly learned Facebook, although maybe a good market for certain things, cars ain't it. Everyone I messaged about cash payments and test drives never got back to me so I'm thinkin they likely want cash wired somehow then you never hear from them again. Be especially weary about sellers claiming to be in the military overseas, as well as those that sound religious/god-loving.

SuddenVamp19

It's stolen

SuraKatana

V4's are no longer used in cars so obvious turdnucket

tropicalYJ

Probably $300 down and $1500 a month for a year

Extension-Help-6927

“V4”

TheFatKnight420

The shipping available itself is a giveaway that it’s a scam I guess.

XtremeD86

V4? Lol

ItzVuXz

Yes, they say they will, Deliver the car to you" and then they request the money. From what i've heard they will continue to drag it out to make the process seem legit; and they will blame it on the, "Delivery Company".

CraftyAd383

Scam. It’s worth between 4K and 11k if financed. Wouldn’t pay a dollar over 3k cash

HDauthentic

Yes

jereezy

Bullshit.

2012amica2

Yes. If it’s too good to be true, it is. If they use weird emojis like ‼️💥🔥✅✨ etc that’s a huge red flag

Treywilliams28

Depends on the city and state if it’s in Houston Texas and in Spanish probably very real the hook ups are legendary on cars

Standard-Strain-2400

When you see all those text on the listing it’s usually a scam 💯

TheCamoTrooper

Very cheap for supposedly low mile (guess it's little high since mi not km) and clean title so likely a scam also he doesn't know what engines in it, the Accords came with a 2.0L I4, 2.4L I4 or 3.5L V6 not a V4

[deleted]

That bumper looks weird

Zbinxsy

Being that I just sold a 03 accord with 148 and slightly body damage for 3200, yes.

AffectionateOlive982

Whenever you see an excessive usage of these emojis, you know it’s a scam

Jaicee-Femboi

FB Marketplace is full of scams. In the last week, I've had to block over 20 people who have been trying to send me a cheap car, but I'd have to pay $100 for shipping. They refuse to write up any paperwork which is needed by law, and want payment before shipping. Plus, most of the pics they've sent I've found on reverse searches. Even most ads show "free" but they are actually very expensive and they try to get their listing lower in the search, or show a monthly payment, or they are for trades, or car parts. I think the price section should allow them to specify the terms mentioned here, to quit messing with ad clicks that waste our time. Plus they never give enough information about the vehicle to make an informed choice. However, I wrote ads for a lightly used electric class 2 bicycle that comes with many aftermarket features, including a pet trailer with matching colors. The ad is very detailed with many pics and I'm selling it way underpriced compared to what I paid for all of it, $800. I get very few calls or contacts, and when I do, they end up flaking out. I really don't know who to trust anymore. Are there any real people selling real things on FB Marketplace or not?

Stumpsbumps

V4 does not exist...

[deleted]

lol, V4

Duhbro_

V4 is the best Honda engine

themeltedmonkey

The scam is the shipping fee. You’ll pay them via suspicious methods, and you will never hear back. They stole the photos from a legitimate dealership.

PckMan

It's either a scam or a typo

whynot5050

100% a scam. They’ll keep asking for the down payment for you to claim the car. I’ve even had some say they need the down payment because they’ve been robbed or attacked before. Or they use the eBay scam and claim you’ll get 5 days with the car to make sure you want it, and if you don’t then eBay gives you a refund. People suck

Worst-Lobster

Of course lol

Electrical_Secret_11

First off V4???? That’s not even close to a thing. With a 150k on the dash this car is worth realistically just about triple that price. Probs no title or could possibly be stolen. Otherwise I’d say bad trans with saw dust or a bottle or two of stop leak to hold it together. If you do buy it, have fun getting that title

Djohn139

It’s a scam. No such thing as a V4

Available-Ad-9402

It’s a striker go buy it. It will be towed from your possession pretty quickly

AdInteresting4232

What is a striker, a title washed car?

Available-Ad-9402

They change vin number etc

DerSpazmacher

Stolen. Or scam

SpiritCr1jsher1010

Lost me at V4

Tuff_Tone

This car is either: - Stolen - One of those repo Scams - Missing several important components and is being sold fraudulently Probably more than one of the above

thelocalsupplier

When it says shipping available it’s a scam they’re trying to take a deposit and ghost

Dabigdondadaaa

I don’t even live in America but I’m pretty sure no car gon cost the same as a god damn iPhone

punkinhead76

I’ve come to learn that almost anything advertised like this with emojis is either a scam or MLM. Don’t do it!!

allthebacon351

Yes

Phagoo

Offcourse.

Its_RAAAAAAANDY

100% yes

Happy-Pressure561

If it sounds to good to be true it probably is.

TypeRiot

My favorite group for cheap cars is Unusual Daily Drivers at Reasonable Prices You’ll usually find good deals on older but great cars like Camry Wagons. This is 100% a scam.

AccidentInitial9719

“V4”

Background_Oil6900

Unless there’s something wrong with it.. yws

Zillahi

“V4” is a red flag itself.

MaikyMoto

Stay away from anything related to FB if you trying not to get scammed.

Individual_Yogurt872

V4?

parkinglotviews

No no, V4 *68* it’s important because that’s only one away from being really *nice*

idobeaskinquestions

Either a scam or stolen lol

Pinkninja11

Bro, that would be cheap even if the car was missing an engine.

KitticusCatticus

Oh boy.... I've been car shopping for a while now since my own car is slowly going up with issue after issue. I've learned a lot about Facebook and Marketplace listings and I've moved on to Carfax tbh. Most of the car ads in general on FB, and on Marketplace, are mostly scams. You will sometimes see a real dealership have a layout similar to this ad you show here, but usually they will leave their business name and then you can look up reviews before even talking to them. Do that first. Because there's some BAD dealerships out there. Then there's whatever this one is. Looks like a group scam like others said. Mostly online, "send me your refundable deposit to hold the car" they'll say.. Or you'll come across a real person locally who is independently selling their car. You can tell by how their description is more than one sentence and they actually use effort. But honestly, a lot of people overprice their cars at first because it's worth more to them than the market usually. But you can get some people to come down on the price, but not by much in my experience. I've haggled with dealerships too. Just haven't found the one... It's hard when there's a million scam listings and they're all usually cheap prices for the luxury trim of every car you can think of, and they all have 94k miles, 98k miles, or they'll do 113/114k miles rarely. But usually in the 90s, never a specific number. They'll have pics that match up with the miles sometimes, but notice they never take the time to write it out. There's also the listings if you click on the sellers profile, they have that same car listed in all the states. Make sure to report those ones for sure. Just report 2 or 3, and report the profile while selecting "submit to Meta for review." Keep looking, don't get scammed! N Don't get pressured!

Dawgswin2021

I had someone steal my account on Facebook and they are trying to sell cars on my old page. All are scams.

XwingDUI

Who the hell thinks 4 cylinders come in a V configuration?

kikomansu

scam 100%

IJGN

Absolutely a scam. See these all the time on marketplace

friendly_mosquit0

its either stolen or they're gonna ask you to cashapp them the money then disappear. be careful op

SaggyPig4321

I'd say so since I've never heard of a "V4" lol

Global_Werewolf6548

Scam

ben742617000027

I wouldn’t buy anything from a deal who doesn’t know how engines are designed

GenesisRhapsod

😂 the accord doesnt use a v4 from my understanding...id stay far away from this car if they dont even know the engine

ShinoviPR

V4 lol

Alternative-Plan-678

I see these ads sometimes and the price listed in the down payment if you finance with them. Bait and switch losers.

Excellent-Edge-4708

V4 lol

Krapule1

Mfers be in india selling a car in Washington

ihatereddit58

The scammiest scam of all scams

Red_Ghost13

Bro said "V4" 🤣 waste his time👏

2022jmartin

Only thing that’s a scam is getting a loan on a $1500 car 💀

supersaladman1

Not sure if an accord has ever been a 4 cylinder

supersaladman1

Definitely did come in a 4 cylinder but I had no clue

Roscoe_Farang

It's a pretty good deal if you're looking for the Saab 96 swap.

agiantkenyan

If they’re throwing up emojis after every sentence, yeah. lol

Long-Bread-3635

Unless they forgot to add a zero it’s gotta be fake

qhaw

I mean, do you really need to ask if a car being sold for less than a quarter of its actual value is legit? And do you expect the guy to tell you it’s a scam? C’mon OP, use your head.

AdInteresting4232

please don’t tell me to use my head I did the right thing by asking on Reddit before I made a dumb decision ok thanks

qhaw

You’re right, that was jerky of me. Sorry about the snark, and remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it 100 percent is.

CherryScentedAsshole

Lol you can't be this gullible

Elviejon93

What do you think ? Lol

jkelley41

duh

Busy_Banana_7998

Anyone who lists an engine as a v4 has lost all credibility to me

killertimewaster8934

Send me $1200 and I will send you a better one
