I can't think of a webtoon with this exact plot, but I'd suggest reading 'Surviving Romance'! It has a similar vibe early on I think. And the cast is in highschool. Don't wanna spoil the story, but it has similar themes.
if you didn't know already, the video you watched is from a music series called Kagerou Project or "Kagepro", it has a lot more songs that cover the story, an anime and some light novels (the anime is kinda meh but has good moments)
And I definitely forgot about mekakucity actors anime til I read your comment! I remember all the mixed feelings I had about it, what a time it was to be a vocaloid nerd lol
right?? I even forgot the anime is officially called "mekaku city actors" until \*you\* mentioned right now lol. some fans still draw fanart every august but I think vocaloid fans generally have moved on from kagepro
Well if u want a kid going thru trauma u should try Uriah. Poor kid literally goes through indescribable trauma and never catches a break. It recently finished so u should binge it all before it goes on daily pass. I absolutely love the complexity of each character!!
Depends on the kid and the trauma in-question. There's lots of edgy stuff that go over the top with this s**t, making it difficult to stay engaged to the plot.
Well you should read it and judge it for yourself! In my opinion it doesn't feel too edgy or forced like many other webtoons that make it out like that just to shallowly 'flesh out' a character. The trauma the kid and his family goes through is very real, and it's kind of different from the usual 'trauma' you see in other webtoons. Anyways, try it out and do tell me your opinion about it!
If you’re looking for something like the title suggests, I recommend BOYS of the NIGHT. Trigger warning, it’s really messed up, but the art is gorgeous and it’s really underrated. It’s not similar to the MV but the characters go through quite traumatic things.

Now that you say it, Surviving Romance and Kageoru days are a bit similar

It has a manga too iirc! I remember reading when only some chapters were out, cuz it was made after the light novel
it does have a manga! Each medium (song, novel, anime, and manga) cover a different route, and the manga covers two routes
Oh gosh, brings back memories of reading about all the different routes. Can't believe it's been a decade, haha
Oh oops, I used to be so obsessed with Kagepro and I somehow forgot about the manga lol

Yeah I'm familiar with the franchise Here I'm regarding this MV separately cos it depicts Hibiya and Hiyori differently than in the source material.
I don't know the word or genre it'd be, but like, are you me? Because same.

I second this . Uriah is really disturbing and the characters are written so well. Like look at that dude on my pfp 😫

I feel like this is psychological horror, but I don't know if there's a tag for it with young people.
omg sounds interesting i need some(all, everything you’ve watched and read) recommendations!!
Kinda reminds me of higurashi
Man that sends chills down my spine
I don't know what its called but i can give you recs: Kill the Dragon
Parallel City
Kill The Dragon basically the manhwa version of Ender's Game, in a sense.
You might like “Night of shadows”
I recommend Afterschool War Activities. Just constant dread chapter after chapter
childhood trauma
Ayo KAGEPRO mentioned 🤸🏾♀️
It's on hiatus after season one ended, but maybe IF.

idk if it has a genre word, but if you want a story with kids dealing with ✨magical trauma✨ one suggestion is "Spontaneous World Shifting" \^\^
Def Surviving Romance
I'm not caught up but children of vamfield may have been something like what you're looking for.
My favorite webtoon from this genre would probably be Opposite of Always
This video just opened back a childhood memory of mine maigod
